I love the different personalities of these two guys. Nick Matthew, the tough, dour northerner versus Greg Gaultier, the passionate, mercurial frenchman. Rivalries don't get much better. I think i heard somewhere that they first met as juniors and Gaultier had a wild haircut and Matthew bageled him in all three games.
Very entertaining, was always so close between Nick and Greg. Thank you to the PSA for entertaining us during the lockdown. I am really missing playing.
Great players and great rivalry. Head to head ended 19-17 in Gaultier's favour. This compilation could suggest Metthew had the advantage.
Feels like Matthew has always been more calm and composed than Gaultier, especially regarding emotional control and how it might affect your concentration and game quality ...

@@L536775 Yea, Gaultier had much better movement as well. Matthew has to be admired as he had no particular tricks or big weapons on court. Shows how much can be achieved by keeping the ball tight and a never say die attitude.

I miss squash. Some brutal matches there.
Interesting, Gaultier has often crushed opponents out of the gates whereas Matthew of course loved to win in the 5th, but here Matthew tended to have the advantage in the early games.
