According to some web sites, there are about 20M people playing Squash around the world. On the other hand, 87M people play Tennis all over the world. Bottom line, this is all about the ratings.
Obviously an amazing game and match but I gotta say, I know they were tired and I respect patience and a good line, but all the backhand wall plonking took me right back to 1990s squash... Big kudos to the ref though for getting every one of the 37 decisions right! (Unlike the players)
This match and ashour vs mo elshorbagy in 2014 world championship final is the most epic I've watched. The level of squash they played were truly amazing.
loving it .....the best set i have ever seen ... how long was the all match? the fittnes levels are outrageous games like this are just realli inspiring like you have in a concert ...good buzz
The last time I saw this much beef between the players, it was with Nick Matthews vs Gregory Gaultier or Marwan El vs Gregory - pretty much any of them versus Greg haha. How about you, PSA?
now proven to be physically the toughest game and yet unlike the many "soft games" these athletes have to give up sleep in order to start recovery operations on their broken bodies because they have to play the NEXT day ... shame on the IOC cocooned in their sherry parties far away from real sport
Seemed like Rodriguez tried to hit Rösner a few times with his shot selections. I don't believe I've seen any other high level player try to mix it up like Rodriguez was doing. Why would Rodriguez purposely play like that?
I felt Rösner were standing in the way on purpose a few times. I'd like to think Rodriguez didn't try to hit Rösner as much as letting him know he might if it Rösner keeps it up. I don't know :)
@@Artefact41 I started to write a novel but really these guys are so damn good I decided to delete it. I hope they play against each other for many years. This rivalry could breathe a lot of life into the game of Squash. The most interesting players in the game...
Sometimes Rosner was not in a hurry to clear on the backhand rails. Rodriguez was being a thug, running into Rosner to make his point. Mostly Rodriguez did the pushing, but Rosner did some also. *Part* of the problem was the ref was not giving lets when the call was marginal. I did not disagree with the commentators & the decisions of the ref after the video reviews. But when it is a very close call a let decision rather than stroke / no let would have helped reduce the temperature. If as a player you think the ref is unlikely to give a let in a marginal case then it creates an incentive to push for greater access, causing collisions. Although exciting, I thought it ended up being a brawl, and not a great advert for the game.
58:57 "Nice to see the Colombians cheering supporters cheering just as loudly as if Rodriguez had won". If I know Colombians this is definitely not true...
The problem with current trend in refs giving strokes and no lets for 90%+ of decisions is in the situation when it's a genuine, simple Let the ref bottles it and puts everything to the video ref. It slows the game down massively. I get that strokes and no lets are supposed to improve the game from a spectators perspective but it's having the opposite effect at times. I'd rather see a Let ball and replay the point immediately rather than waiting through 5 different camera views of an uninteresting rally.
Ive been playing inner club squash for 20 years and Lets/Strokes are still a dark alley for me. As well for a lot of advanced players that I Know. Is there a Squash Bible that I need to defer to?
Definitely hard to enjoy as a non-squash player but usually they indicate a poor shot selection so they can be quite satisfying to watch if you've played
Why on earth is Squash not an Olympic sport? This is athleticism, drama and skill of the highest order.
there's too much chance and referee interpretation for it to be considered serious sport
@@maripyter nonsense
100% agreed
true

PSA, thanks for this! Please break these rules more often.
This is perfect squash!! I was there watching it.
whaaat! lucky you
42 minutes ? Great, free match friday ! Euh, wait a minute...
Thank you Squash TV you made my day!
One of the best Squash games I've ever watched !!
4:43 "What d'you think, tiebreaker in the fifth?". And thus, the commentator's curse was unleashed once again.

Awesome!! Thanks for sharing it, SquashTV!!! Much appreciated 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
What a match !!!
How could they miss the opportunity on giving it the title "we're not done LET!"?

Rally at 19:57 is simply amazing
Great game, no doubt about it. But I feel like Rodriguez is hunting those strikes quite a bit.
He knows he can get them and rosner is not clearing the ball as readily as him
True but in the 5th game, the players are a little bit fatigued and their movements will be slower...so there is bound to be more let’s and strokes
More commentary from Lee Drew across the season please!
Not only that but he's the only announcer I've ever heard pronounce Roesner's name correctly.
The last time I saw this much beef between the players, it was with Nick Matthews vs Gregory Gaultier or Marwan El vs Gregory - pretty much any of them versus Greg haha. How about you, PSA?
Yeah, it really looked like Rodriguez was trying to get into a punching match. Have never seen Rodriguez play like a hoodlum before.
Amazing game!

Phil o'Macc I read that as 'sherry panties', now there’s a marketing opportunity...
What a terrific game! Incredible...
What a game! Gaaanz starke Leistung Simon! Mental stark geblieben! Beeindruckend.

Fantastic squash!
여태껏 본 모든 프리게임 중에 가장 쫄렸다 ㄷㄷ
진짜 내가 하는것도 아닌데 다 보고 나니까 식은땀에 다 젖었다 ㅋㅋㅋ
Super squash. Good sports man ship by Columbia's.
Hope that's the automatic typing corrector
Not sure about that, deliberately running into Roesner multiple times...
That was great!!!
58:57 "Nice to see the Colombians cheering supporters cheering just as loudly as if Rodriguez had won". If I know Colombians this is definitely not true...
Exactly, in their minds they probably think Rodriguez won in spirit which is what really counts...
No, they would have gone insane if he'd won, but they were fair play to cheer and remain happy despite the loss
Squash redefined. Salut‘.
Show me a game of tennis more exciting than that
There never will be.
you must run much more in squash
Watch Nadal Vs Federer Wimbledon 2009, ul find plenty of games.
Completely irrelevant comment.
Impossible and it’s not a irrelevant comment
Epic game. Best of the season so far?

who are the commentators? they're the best
Lee Drew and Vanessa Atkinson
Rodriquez should be ashamed for not calling that double.
You don't always know.
Epic !
@PSASQUASHTV who is the female commentator?
It's Vanessa Atkinson, former World n°1.
Those infinite let/no-let/strike-decisions are driving me nuts. Although, of course, unavoidable, they're definitely my least liked part of the game.
Definitely hard to enjoy as a non-squash player but usually they indicate a poor shot selection so they can be quite satisfying to watch if you've played
Great Colombian fans. Good sports.
wow!
WOW
central ref is not the best..
At least there is cheering from everyone, some events they only cheer for certain people :/
Miguel is really irritating Simon Rosner.. Very sad to see him do like this.. Rosner was gentleman in this set.
Didn’t go to 20 points :(
Hi
Isn't that a foot fault at 0:46?
They're fairly lenient on foot faults, unlike tennis, probably because you don't gain much advantage on the serve anyway
why Rosner lost point in 4:34 ?
he hit the ball before Rodriguez did
Down perspective view is better
Klo bsa d ambl d ambl lah mostopaaah jan mnta terosss....emosi ak bah....😑
4:00 how is that a yes let? He was no where near him
Hes afraid of hitting him

레프링도 그렇고 로드리거스샷도 그렇고 여태껏 프리게임중에 가장 보기 껄끄러웠다
레프링 진짜 최악이였다
로스너가 빡이갈만함 나였어도 짜증날듯
Not the best decisions by the referees.
I think they got everything right
I play sqwash
i do too
