      According to some web sites, there are about 20M people playing Squash around the world.
      On the other hand, 87M people play Tennis all over the world.
      Bottom line, this is all about the ratings.

    Seemed like Rodriguez tried to hit Rösner a few times with his shot selections. I don't believe I've seen any other high level player try to mix it up like Rodriguez was doing. Why would Rodriguez purposely play like that?

    • @Artefact41
      @Artefact41 5 лет назад +2

      I felt Rösner were standing in the way on purpose a few times. I'd like to think Rodriguez didn't try to hit Rösner as much as letting him know he might if it Rösner keeps it up. I don't know :)

    • @CollaterlieSisters
      @CollaterlieSisters 5 лет назад +2

      Sometimes Rosner was not in a hurry to clear on the backhand rails. Rodriguez was being a thug, running into Rosner to make his point. Mostly Rodriguez did the pushing, but Rosner did some also.
      *Part* of the problem was the ref was not giving lets when the call was marginal. I did not disagree with the commentators & the decisions of the ref after the video reviews. But when it is a very close call a let decision rather than stroke / no let would have helped reduce the temperature. If as a player you think the ref is unlikely to give a let in a marginal case then it creates an incentive to push for greater access, causing collisions.
      Although exciting, I thought it ended up being a brawl, and not a great advert for the game.

    The problem with current trend in refs giving strokes and no lets for 90%+ of decisions is in the situation when it's a genuine, simple Let the ref bottles it and puts everything to the video ref. It slows the game down massively. I get that strokes and no lets are supposed to improve the game from a spectators perspective but it's having the opposite effect at times. I'd rather see a Let ball and replay the point immediately rather than waiting through 5 different camera views of an uninteresting rally.

    Rodriguez ist ein sehr unfairer spieler und in den letzten tunieren wurde es immer schlimmer. Er verhält sich rücksichtlos und aggressiv gegenüber seinen gegnern! Ich hoffe, dass einer von den schiedsrichtern ihn doch eimal an die fairness im squash erinnert. Er hat die divings eingeführt. Ich spiele seit 42 jahren squash in der liga und habe noch nie einen diver gebraucht um bälle zu erreichen! Nach meinem regelverständnis ist ein diver ein sturz und eine störung des gegners und wird mit let oder stroke geahndet! Simon Rösner hat eine überragende leistung gezeigt. Nicht nur sportlich sondern auch charakterlich!!! - bei einem solchen gegner. Ich wünsche ihm mehr vertrauen in seine fähigkeiten, dann würde er sehr viel öfter das halb- und finale erreichen.
