    If I may offer a correction regarding tide times. One complete tidal cycle of high water to low tide and back to high tide again is a little over 12 hours; it flows out for around 6 hours and in for 6 hours ( not 24 hours as you intimated ). There are typically 2 high tides and 2 low tides in a 24 hour period. So if the safe time to hike at low water is at 1 am and you prefer not to hike in the dark, risking injury and missing the views, then you only need wait until around 1:30 pm for perfect conditions.
    ( The 12 hours is actually a simplification. 12.5 hours would be closer. High tide is around 1 hour later everyday ).
    Please check tide times everybody and stay safe. Too many folks get cut off by the rising tide.

    • @JupiterHikes
      @JupiterHikes  4 года назад +2

      Looking at the tide chart, you are correct there are two low tides in a 24 hour period, but one is significantly lower than the other and so many of these sections there was already a tight window of opportunity the 12hr tide wouldn't be enough and 24hrs would be how long we'd have to wait.

    This might be a weird question, but where and how often do you get food from on a hike like this?

    • @JupiterHikes
      @JupiterHikes  4 года назад

      It depends on the trail! Most out there have resources online that'll give you an idea of how many miles between towns. On this hike specifically I was carrying upwards of 200miles of food at a time. Given your pace the amount of days can vary, or if you want to go into towns more frequently you could usually find some road to hitchhike off of. Depending on the trail it can be as frequent as every day or an entire week+ between stops
