Even without the 78% of your face becoming a birth mark, I think having a tail is generally just better, it may not be as useful as having an extra arm but most animals with tails use them to stabilize themselves and some monkeys (Spider monkeys) even have tails that are strong enough to hold themselves by a single branch. So having a long tail can just be a quality of life if you don't make it your whole personality or hide it completely like a weirdo.
