Wow man! Never would have thought you to be a Lighting guy! When I worked at the local ford dealership in town where I live in my previous career, I drove a few and really enjoyed them. Although those were straight from the pages of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords though. The owner of the dealership was good friends with a guy at SVT. Pretty cool though, look forward to seeing the progress bud!
Lightnings and mustangs are like ham and cheese. Perfect combo. Ive wanted one. I’m a big guy 6’4 360ish lbs so I fit in trucks better, so naturally I want power and style in truck form. I had a 99 step side v6 but I didn’t have it long enough to do anything with it. It was emerald green. I had plans for it like with all my vehicles. Keep it green cause I love that color, slam it down but instead of cobra motor I wanted to put twin turbo ecoboost. So emerald green lightning with twin turbo ecoboost. i know they're not the same but i had a chance a while back to get a lincoln blackwood but i couldnt jump on it fast enough. they have the 4 valve tritons in them. that would have been a neat project. slap a supercharger on it. id only ever seen one in person until that one.

1st gen lightning are really fun. Build one up and its a blast to drive, they handled better than mustangs in 93-95 surprisingly. Have a 94' in red bored to a 383
You will love it. Bought my 2002 Lightning last fall. Getting seat time in. Don't regret buying it at all!
I had a dsg lightning with full bolt ons! She was loud and fun and would blaze the tires at will!

That's cool you have a Lightning now. My cousin has a 99 with a 4/6 drop on the factory 18s that our Grandpa bought new in 99. I just wish I would've had the money to buy it from him years ago.

Always wanted a Lightning but it just wasn’t practical with having kids and back then I couldn’t afford several different vehicles but now that they are grown and gone hey it’s definitely a possibility. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.

Congrats on lightning! 99-00 know to have leaking intercooler. Should had a recall back in the day to replace it. If gives any problems , i got one out of my 03 I'm not using.

I had a black 2000 Lightning, it was my favorite car that I ever owned and was my daily driver. I regret selling it.
Had an 03 DSG that I miss terribly. Also had an 04 mystichrome vert I regret selling.
I had a 2004 gunmetal truck that being said.... Your going to have a blast! 5k truck that could run with and surprise alot of ss Camaro owners. (2010-12) and mine was LOUD too hence her name THUNDER!!!!

An X-pipe with twin round Magnaflows or Bassani mufflers was a super popular combo on the Gen2 L's. Mine had the setup with the twin Magnaflows and it sounded very similar to your video

One thing on the saving money part. The older i get the more i see it this way- if something is 10k and you get it for 8k..you didnt save 2k..you spent 8k.
Spectacular truck, rough project. To do the stuff that fixes factory defects/raises power ceiling, you gotta do the heads (trickflows if they still make them) but that means you gotta pull the cab. Alot of repairs require the cab to be pulled.
Ford does pull the cab but I pulled, built and stabbed my L without pulling the cab. Had to strip to a long block and remove the motor mounts if I remember right.
yarbrouc1 totally believable, but that still sounds like a bit of an undertaking. I was lucky enough to have been a panther guy, so lightyears of clearance everywhere. (Except for framerail to exhaust manifold inexplicably). 1993-2002 cars were extremely obnoxious to put headers on.
I was told to pull the cab but thought that would be more work. If I had to do it over I’d probably pull the cab. The Lightning is probably the reason for locking, swivel spark plug sockets lol

I miss my old 2000 Lightning dearly. I know Coyote technology and aluminum bodies have outdated them a bit, but there's just something absolutely magical about them. I miss the L more than any Mustang I've ever had. I look forward to your Lightning content!
Sweet buy BREW2L. I had a regular cab short bed 2011 f150 in Tuxedo Black. Always thought that color would look sweet on a lightning or a Fox.

I’ve had two 2valve mod motor fords. Both with head problems that happened later down the road. Did the ford racing updated PI head and cam swap on both motors, the 5.4 and the 4.6. Never had an issue after. Sounds great btw, love 2 valves! Check out modular head shop too. They use beastly time serts and do great port work!
