@@raycon8765 it’s called west coast technique. Differs vastly from east coast style. They play with a very open and relaxed approach. I knew a guy who had clean chops with west coast tech. Every note he produced on the marimba was crisp and clean. His mallet runs were tight. I on the other hand grew up east coast style but whatever floats your boat ya know
Fantastic! these kids are amazing... I love Drum Corps and all the talented musicians (and guard) who perform their shows on the field for my viewing and listening pleasure every year since the early 1970's when I first saw a show in Bayonne NJ... Can't wait to see more in 2012
I'm a freshmen, and I'm the second Vibraphone player in my school's front ensemble, and I struggle so much at just remembering the chords for that 7/8 piece. I'm 100% sure that I won't be able to play that in sixteenth notes xD
Basically a pattern that starts in F. Go up in F then up in F#, Down in G then down in Gb, Then keep going up up down down in ascending chromatic keys.
hi! im second marimba for the ensemble i play in and i havent been able to find any sheet music for the 7/8 chords so if you can please send it to my email. flurgen9009@gmail.com
section leader isnt always "center" or best player, it usually is but having the ability to lead is a huge part too
(deciphered from ear; not necessarily accurate), the four mallet warm-up chord progression:
C min 7 sus 4 --> Eb maj 7
(Repeat)
D min 7 sus 4 --> F maj 7

E min 7 sus 4 --> G maj 7

F min 7 sus 4 --> A maj 7

G min 7 sus 4--> Bb maj 7
(Repeat)
A min 7 sus 4 --> C maj 7

Bb min 7 sus 4 --> D maj 7

By far the sexiest pit in drum corps history
phantom, regiment...
Still use a lot of arm tho.

RealTEdits musescore
Devin FitzGerald would you send me the music too?

Basically a pattern that starts in F. Go up in F then up in F#, Down in G then down in Gb, Then keep going up up down down in ascending chromatic keys.

Most corps pits us Steven's. Some may use traditional but I don't think many do.
We do it at spartans, and we just call it 7/8 chords. I can send you the music if you'd like.
