I put in twists and wash because I do feel like my hair gets cleaner with twists as well. After deep conditioning and any other treatments, I rebraid my hair and do this over again. I wash every two weeks.
      I love her routine and had to just tween it just a little to make it work for me. Sounds like you did the same!!

    Thank you for the video. I will try this because when I wash my hair in twists, they unravel, which can be very inconvenient.
    In addition, when people say washing their hair in braids doesn't work, my firm belief is that it all depends on the products the individual is putting in their hair for this washing method not to work for them.
    Furthermore, our hair requires fewer products that are of good quality, such as:
    Shampoo
    Conditioner
    Leave in conditioner
    Natural oil/s for hot oil treatment, and lastly, a non-alcohol quality gel to hold the hair for a week without manipulation until your next wash day.

    Am trying braiding for longer but I'll be straightening my hair prior a little bit. So I think I'll prefer to just refresh it after a week, then wash it AFTER I remove and detailed the braids then rebraid afters again. Looks like it will tangle like crazy especially if it's natural. And looks like the washing just makes it more unruly and undone. Tyfs. Definitely helped me out.

    How often do you refresh (pull out and re-plait)? I have my plaits in since April 17 and I have washed once and refreshed once because the root areas looks like mini bird nests😣 because I realize your root at the plait is still neat after washing. Thanks.

    • @BarbaraBirungiSunflower
      @BarbaraBirungiSunflower  3 года назад +15

      I refresh them every after two weeks but I wash my braids every week as I would if my hair was out.I moisturise every after wash. I re- moisturise one every week without removing the braids-just on top of the braids. After two weeks, i wash and redo my braids to keep them neat and my scalp clean and avoid frizzy roots or tangles.

    So I’m 4c and have been having issues with breakage. I was getting hair trimmed every 6 months and thought I was taking care of it.
    Would moisturize once a week LCO and pull It up in a bun for a week and repeat every week.
    I just started getting into deep conditioners
    Do u have any recommendations... I use Aussie moist for shamp/condi and I use Cantu and an oil for leave in if I don’t deep condition before
    Seems like everytime I got a trim there was growth but bad breakage to where I had to get it trimmed back up to where I started.
    I’ve yet to see any real growth
    Is it the ponytail with weave for the week

    • @BarbaraBirungiSunflower
      @BarbaraBirungiSunflower  3 года назад +7

      Hey Rita. Nice meeting you darling.
      First, moisturising every week with LCO is great for 4c hair.It is enough unless your hair gets dry quickly then you need to UP your game on your LCO method.
      Hair breakage issues can be caused by many factors but my assumptions Is if your hair is dry, not moisturised well, if you don't use deep conditioner every wash, your hair will break(at least that's what mine does)
      How to stop breakage? Moisturise the ends of your hair, use heavy butters, grease or oils to seal the moisture and deep conditioner weekly to strength your hair stands. Detangle your hair well to avoid tangled knots which causes breakage. Put your hair in mini braids or twists( I prefer mini braids because they keep my hair stretched and protected) until wash day. Try using a tea rinse every time you wash your hair after wash. You will notice a huge difference in the breakage after a couple of weeks. Check out my video about it if it helps.
      Yes! Start using deep conditioner after shampoo every time you wash your hair. Get a deep conditioner that can be left in for atleast 1 hour ( Again if you have 4c hair that comes in handy so go for it and your hair will thank you)
      All products you are using are good! just add a deep conditioner of your good sis
      Lastly, please reduce on the trimming. Trimming is great and you should do it but take it slow. Try dusting your ends and pay attention to those ends when moisturising your hair. The truth is we retain length on the ends of our hair so care for it more.
      Thank you so much for journeying with me. You can do it girl.

    • @irulan9161
      @irulan9161 3 года назад +2

      I love to use Cantu as well but I would experience breakage when I used the Cantu with argan oil because it has Isopropyl alcohol which is very drying for your hair. Not all alcohols are bad for your hair, but make sure you read the ingredient labels on products and do your research!
