Man! I'm a beginner/intermediate guitar player, and I think your take on guitar playing (and learning) is sooooooo good. The listening by ear thing is so important, and I'm listening to my guitar as much as I read the chord changes etc. And I do use your capo trick to quickly get in tune with a particular recording. Also I found, once I went through the chords a bit on my own, that to play along with you and watch your hands was super practice! And I think you showing how the chords are actually played (live) really gives you a fast track insight into how someone really would play the song. You're the best! and I love your musical tastes as well. Best guitar lesson site ever :)
Perfect tutorial. A player’s teacher, if ever there was one. No elitist bullshit here! Just the goods. Anyone who hasn’t heard the version of WMGGW Live In Japan, RUclips it at once! Unreal. Clapton is in fine form. The band is hot. Purely a magical performance! 🕊
Absolutely love your progression! I've played this song for years, in a few different ways, but your method sounds better than I've ever heard my acoustic play. Another opportunity to say "THANKS" James! Please continue to feed us your lessons and "Your" approach. It's all about the music, and you have been the most admirable resource for 'guitar joy' in my 50 years of playing.
I learned this song when you first uploaded it to the PP channel. Great tune. I believe George Martin recorded strings on that strip version for the LOVE album.
I love your posts on these songs. I always play the F Barr chord on the drop but the Dim really shines the way you do it. You have a recording engineer's ear for these things.
I’ve enjoyed your covers/lessons for years. Thanks for sharing. About your SJ-200… The tone is so much brighter than that from mine. - Does your tone sound as bright in real-time as it does on your recordings? - What strings and picks do you use? Thanks and Regards
Yes, the maple body gives it some brightness, which it really needs with the massive size of it. I tend to put fatter strings on this one than my other acoustics, mostly because I don’t do a lot of fingerpicking on it. It deserves to be played more.
Nice version, I'm going to give it a try. BTW you've got 3333 view as now (and will be going up of course) Thanks James. Greetings from Vancouver Canada
@@vincentalmerico6165 Nope sorry. That original version was groundbreaking, as it was the first time anyone outside the band was brought in to play on a Beatles track. Clapton himself said he was nervous about it. Clapton's solo, along with George's vocal turned it into a very heartfelt classic song. I'm sure everyone knows the story that George claims John & Paul weren't taking it serious the previous session, with the 2 of them goofing around. George felt slighted. When he brought Eric in the next day John & Paul snapped to attention and performed like they would on their own songs.
Yes. And plenty of other songs do it with D major, e.g., More Than a Feeling, Taken at All, White Room/Brave Ulysses, Sweet Home Alabama, and many others.
Come back man you are needed now more than ever.
my good sir, your taste in music is absolutely sublime so it is no surprise that you prefer this version over the original produced version.

Love this as much as the White album version, George loved his D shape

Tanks sir your,,,utobe,,more viboe sir
Like the T shirt
Better than the version with Clapton fight me
Studio(1968) or the Concert for George ? This one is far more spiritual I M H O . 1st time round usually is more poignant .
@@jimfritz9503 white album I meant, totally agree though

Interesting that this song uses the same descending motif as "Dear Prudence" but in a minor key instead of Prudence's D major.

What do you think of the tom petty prince live version? Thanks for posting
I found that tribute performance very moving. Prince was so multi-talented! He REALLY brought that performance to a climax. I was so impressed!
Prince’s guitar at the end is just amazing!
I had to scramble on my knees to find my jaw after princes solo…it was under the couch
Exactly!! Love that wild solo
It was truly amazing 👏. Prince was on another level for certain.
Anyone know whats happened to our friend James?
Random question: What do you think of Greta Van Fleet?
That is a random question 😂
The version with Jeff Lyn, Tom Petty, and Prince is epic.
What album is this off anyone know? I’ve never heard it!
Part of the Anthology set.
@@jamesjames9275 found it and it’s amazing thank you. Great lesson.
What model year is this J200?
2001-ish. I haven’t checked in a while.
Is that an EJ or SJ?
SJ.
