What's it really like when an old crusty British retrogamer finally gets to visit the destination of his dreams. Of course, it's not just about videogames, it's about everything Japanese, the places, the food, the way of life - but, I can promise you, Japan is home to more collectibles than your eyes can cope with. Wow, I’m sure this was an editing beast but as a humble viewer it was one of the best and even putting up all those prices made it further interesting.
I’m now keener than ever to save up, fly over, and fill a suitcase with game and watch; I’m assuming it’s as the Japanese sales were astronomical and they’re in abundance, but the prices were super low!

Hi Ed, yes, I think you would go crazy there, especially with your love of action figures and toys too. The prices are weird on G&W, I tend to think the text is saying some have issues. These days most of the ones we get suffer with unresponsive keys, lcd bleed or faintness. Probably wise to take some LR44s with you when shopping for handhelds. Huge thanks for watching, and appreciating the hard work adding the prices. I’ve seen a few of you lot have been to forgotten worlds yet nobody has yet taken the time to highlight the prices - and they’re already in pounds! you lazy gits! 😆 (Of course I wanted someone to do this so people see how expensive that shop is and how RG is always best!!) 🤣😂🤣

Another very well put together episode. Seeing that unbreakable glass in the tower brought back some memories of a mate of mine doing his damnedest to break the one at Blackpool 😂 The size of those 10 stack burgers 😮😮 I do love a man who enjoys a mango smoothie 😊 Top stuff as always Jace 😊👍🐻

Thanks so much, didn’t bring back many games really, but some toys and figures and weird stuff. You are always worrying about weight and what you can fit in your case. Definitely should have bought some of those handhelds and Sega games 😩 Next episode might take a little while, but I’m working on it - people are actually watching this one!! 😂
yeah, I guess you have to remember what's feasible to bring back. Otherwise, you could easily go mad with all the cool stuff, funds allowing of course.

Hey Olli, please do keep saying it every time!! It's great to hear. I probably needed you on Facetime while I was in those shops, when it comes to SG/SC I think you really are the expert. I didn't realise Space Slalom was such a bargain, I'm still staggered by that £1K Pachinko I found in the previous video - what a wide range of prices!
Haven't started the edit on the next one yet, so might be three weeks this time (it's been taking about five solid days to edit these monsters!) Still more games to come though - don't worry!

Thanks as ever James, I think out of the #44 I can imagine you and maybe Ed going the most crazy out there. Some of the prices are incredible, 3DS games for a quid, boxed N64 games for a fiver. We bought an extra case out there to bring more stuff back, but you were constantly worrying about the weight. Genki kindly offered to send stuff back for me, I should have taken him up on it. And it’s Mangoo, the goo of man, bit salty but I love it 😋

Did you notice I dropped the pence in the end 😆 I know, pop flamer and floppy jump, madness I didn’t bring those home - especially as I brought other SG1000 titles home! I will show some of the stuff I bought before the series ends, not many more to go, maybe two episodes left - then I get my weekends back 😆
The prices of those figurines are mind-blowing. Retail space rent must be dirt cheap...
That is a good point, I wonder how much rent they pay for retail space in Japan. So much of that weird stuff in the cabinets you just never knew existed - it's a bit magical really, seeing acres of vintage stuff for the very first time. I miss it - can you tell! 😆
The Club Nintendo item at 10:25 is a set of 25 badges for the 25th anniversary of SMB. You’ll note that the gold boxes on the left form a ‘2’ and the red boxes on the right form a ‘5’.
Fantastic, I knew one of guys would know what it was. I wanna see the badges now, it was a bit of a bargain really!
Just caught up with the three Japan episodes. Great to see how different it all looks from the UK. That tower view was making my knees tingle just looking at it on here. I'm better on mountains.

Beep in my opinion is my favo shop in 🇯🇵 i visit it since they are open.. love their set up and collection and stock. I like their home computer section and their arcade corner. Good prices and great staff😉👍🏽🕹
Ah, thanks so much for commenting. I wish I could go back again! I totally agree, of all the shops we went to, this was the one which really felt like an enthusiasts shop. A lot more gaming computers than anywhere else, and yes, really good prices on really unusual games. Super potato gets all the recognition but I agree, I felt much more at home in Beep.

I know grumbled last time but I see everything is shrink wrapped in plastic which I find crazy for each little cartridge costing 0.89p how is this economical for the little shops - I assume some 5 year old is out the back with a shrink heat machine 😮

Thanks Russ, and yes, really great to see a Vic title so far out of its comfort zone. Didn’t find a Speccy game sadly. They must love plastic out there, eco warriors would be up in arms, you are right, everything is in its own special cellophane bag. To be honest, I’m gutted I didn’t buy many of the things I’ve shown, the Jaws game, Floppy Jump, that weird burger game. Did buy some cool things though, and I’ll show them properly as the series concludes. Thanks as ever 😘

I like the way they leave a bit of breading off the shrimps in all the promos, just to show they’re whole shrimps I guess.
Funny you should say that, I was having an idle discussion about that only yesterday. If I was based in Japan I’d love to open the retrogames shop again. People are so friendly and respectful, all the issues I had in London like shoplifters, price swappers, vandalism, aggressive customers, hagglers, none of that would be a concern at all in Akiba. I could open at 11 and close at 8 and spend the day tinkering and dealing to my hearts content. The thought of reopening in London however makes the bowels loosen! 😆
