What isn’t shown is that this “cohesive” gel does not remain this consistency in the body, and there is a possibility of gel bleed and migration. Many explanted cohesive implants have the consistency of a busted raw egg upon explant, leaving a sticky semiliquid substance that cannot always be fully removed. Silicone is not inert in the body, and has been shown in peer reviewed studies to cause a systemic inflammatory response and migrate throughout the body. Claiming that it “returns to its shape” when we know this isn’t always the case is not only misleading, but is incredibly unethical when you consider the effects a ruptured silicone implant can have on women’s bodies.
Thank you for your 'insight', Chesilin. The silicone you are referring to as 'busted raw egg' is the old , non-cohesive type of silicone used before the mid-1990s. In our decades-long experience with both the old, non-cohesive silicone and the new, cohesive-gel silicone, we have found that yes, the non-cohesive silicone can be challenging to remove. We have not had any case of the cohesive-gel implants rupturing or leaking, which speaks volumes about the cohesive-gel in use today. The cohesive-gel does return to its shape, as it is cohesive, but once the implant is inserted the shape is dictated by the pocket made, the ribs, muscles, etc. Feel free to contact our office if you have any questions.

I ended up here while looking to find out what Gummy Bear Implants are. I was expecting to find either the shape of breasts replaced by two large gummy bear molds, or breast shapes filled with tiny edible gummy bears. The edible gummy bears are made from gelatin which comes from dead animals. So the biggest question on everyone's mind, is why are these implants called gummy bear implants? Do they contain gelatin?
Gelatin wouldnt be durable enough to be used so no, gelatin isnt used in these. Also they are called gummy bear implants because of the texture on the inside. Its like the texture of a gummy bear.
