Love meeting other missionary pilots you work with in PNG.
Good to be back watching this channel. Good weather decision.
Love the shot of the Pledge window cleaning (…and it’s lemony-fresh, too)!!!
What an awesome platform!
What a challenging day to fly with all the mud and clouds. It's great to see Brad again, and his takeoff. Also great to see MAF fly in to the airstrip. I'm sure your ground crew were glad to see all the mud. Thanks Ryan and Brad.
I second that, great to see Brad! Now he can fly on his own.
Really great to see both of you at work. Please continue to be safe
The Kodiak has to be one of the best aircraft in the world to be able to handle these conditions. I really love your videos. This is really challenging flying.
The Quest Kodiak was designed by missionaries for Mission Aviation. Flying in PNG is the Kodiak's soul so to speak. Ryan makes it all look easy!! The original Quest company "tithed" every tenth airplane by giving a dramatic discount to Mission Aviation purchasers.
By your usual PNG stardards that was a busy day for traffic and ATC. A busy day but a really informative video thank you. Good to see Brad again and at home in his element.
Yay for inertial separators. That's some challenging flying.
It looks like Ryan's arrivals & departures are the best shows in town for the local folks.
At first I thought you were on final for the taxiway! Lol. Great video and blue skies.. Love watching 😎👍🏼
This is the best channel on you tube
Informative entertaining positive and interesting
Always look forward to these posts
Thanks
Wow, thank you!
Wonderful video. Loved seeing all the people on the airstrip. Cool how you work closely with the other pilots.
Refreshing challenge ... I loved the angle of Brads take off, very nice! -And your landing at Goroka, always so delightful and buttery. 👌
Just as I was wondering about the IFR VFR rules you cleared it all up! Another great flight. Thanks for all the work to share that. Much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really nice to see Brad again.
Great work you guys are doing!!
I really enjoy your channel. I did a 3 year contract based in Moresby which involved visiting customers throughout PNG on a regular basis. This really brings it back to me! Flew in all size planes and choppers and always remember how close we sometimes flew to mountain sides particularly on trips to Porgera.
It's great to see Brad again. :) Busy air strip between you, Brad, and the MAF Caravan.
All I can say is ' You guys are awesome'.
I second that
Thx
Good work 👍
Great narrative. Thank you for the great work you do for people.
Good morning from Minnesota USA! Great episode
Thanks for the video. Looks like a lot of work went into this flight. That was one muddy runway 🙏
Really enjoyed this content Ryan, thanks for sharing and glad everyone landed safe.
Living in Colorado I often think of de icing
It looked like u had debris on your wings.
I’m not a pilot but read about flying & enjoy your videos, have watched for 1 & half years
One of the best videos yet!
wow thanks
Hi Ryan. Here you are. It’s amazing always to watch your movements in your mission! 👏👏👏👏🙏🥰
Conditions to raise your heartrate right there Ryan, watching Brads takeoff showed how bad it really was! It must be such a treat flying around those stunning mountain ranges though👌the weather was rather challenging for you this time but you handled it like a pro as always👍
Great flight, good calls. Bad weather = stay on the ground. Thanks!
Now that was a lot of radio comms. For a minute I thought you were departing JFK on vectors. Great flight and great flying along!
Enjoyed this one... Nice !!!
Love to see more of instruments (some as overlays). Adding overlays here and there works well, as does the navigation display camera.
I'll keep that in mind, thanks
Great aircraft, fun to watch you do some mudding! 😊
Great to see Aussie pilots in PNG!!🇦🇺🦘
It's like you're on MSFS.
I really love your videos.
Thanks for sharing
Happily added you to my Sunday morning que! To be honest you look and sound more comfortable, at home if you will, in the Kodiak. You can tell that even though it can be frustrating and challenging your pure passion for what you do shines through like a lighthouse!
Yes, I am much more comfortable in it than the Kitfox
Love your work!
thanks
Great flight, busy keeps it interesting lol! Definitely makes sense to not want to waste the fuel on an incomplete flight, wise decision.
Nice Content and Cessna Caravan! We have the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan with Black hawk upgrade at Skydive Eslöv in south Sweden!
Thank you Ryan. Your videos are very well produced and I really enjoy watching and learning.
Excellent Flight Ryan, Godspeed
Welcome back Brad
Great video.....especially seeing AMS plane(SDC PAC 750)
Esse avião é muito bom. Bom video 👍🏻 🇧🇷
Thank you for another great video, love this content.
Você e um privilegiado meu nobre, esse lugar e
magnífico eu imagino a sua gratidão por voar nesse povoado, lugar lindo !!!
Just before you'd said 'don't know why he has so much interest in me today', I was thinking, man, Moresby sure does like to talk sometimes :)
Great drone work.
Glad to see you back in PNG. Thanks again for the ride and explanation of PNG's IFR environment, something I've been wondering about since I started following your adventures. Can you share an approach plate sometime?
Another question...since the locals pay for your service, what is their most common source of income? I'm guessing coffee, but probably wrong.
Donizete Brasil Bracaga SP ✈✈✈✈✈✈✈ SP
Now thats what I call a "dirty" aircraft.
A Sheila in the Caravan huh? Love there are some women bush pilots in PNG.
Great video! Liked hearing SDC flying. I see you guys are neighbors in Goroka. I'm sure you probably fly into some of the same strips?
Awesome to see the MAF Caravan, any chance we could get an interview with them, I'd love to see you and them comparing the Kodiak and Caravan.
What does MAF do?
here is a comparison video I did years ago ruclips.net/video/aGqYUDzYbZc/видео.html

Wow that was an interesting flight with the weather, Port Moresby calls… the slip stream on a single prop would clear the raindrops at higher airspeeds but at lower speeds I’d imagine they would be helpful ?
no, as slow speeds the rain drops don't move off the windshield very well
G,day Captain Ryan from Sydney Australia. Weather turn backs are definitely not productive.
🌏🇭🇲
Super!
TX.
I'm surprised at the lack of winds in PNG. I'd think that differential heating of high and low altitude would result in mountain winds. It was certainly an issue on the edge of the rift valley in Kenya, though usually at night.
Almost need floats on that swampy runway.
not a pilot but I know cajoles when I see them :/ That some damn fine piloting.
How come you use VS instead of FLC? Isn’t it safer to do that despite how far up or down your traveling? I’m not questioning your judgement. I admire the heck out of your control and management.
I am getting the American made vibes
The Kodiak's are going to need a little detailing work from the hanger crew.
Let Holy Angels fly for you; enjoy your scud running of this episodes fly safe always …
Cloud and montain Its hard FLY
Robinson Helicopters are freaking dangerous. You could not pay me enough to ride in one, much less fly one. I've been in Rotorwing aviation since 1988 and never seen a more dangerous machine to fly as far as rotorwings go. 😒😬🤬
It's type certificate needs pulled.
i thought I was the only one who used lemon Pledge on my windows!!! lol
works great and is "cheap" compared to the "aviation" grade stuff
@@MissionaryBushPilot .....works great + cheap = win-win!!
Do the maintenance guys get the job of washing the aircraft.?.

Your plane gets off the ground at 60 mph? And what is the black wheel next to your right knee? Do enjoy your videos.
It's time to remove the wing struts to reduce drag and improve visual and performance...
Didn't know you were flying sea planes now 😂
First time to watch. Are you VFR only???
Ryan,
A bit of mud & slush on the ground at Haia, makes for an interesting landing & takeoffs for Brad & yourself. Good to hear a woman flying the MAF Caravan. Do they employ many women?,anyway thanks for the ride, stay safe.
I think 2 women work for MAF
It never ceases to amaze me how you can understand radio calls from Morsby.
you are an english native speaker? That is consoling for me. I understand nothing and doubted about my english skills 😂
They say the same thing nearly everytime. At first it's hard, but eventually you understand it
Is there any risk of pitot blockage due to mud?
I would be shocked if so
Good Morning from Ozark, Ark? wow, I watch a lot of your video and seem like flying as pilot was easy as I though but there are lot of work checking weather, traffic in the sky and other obstacle too! Are you doing VFR?
We do mainly IFR flight plans. Only when we are carrying commercial pax do we file VFR
Just wondering, what is the probability of blocking the pitot tube with mud?
How many hours in the caravan do you have? It must be a ridiculous amount and does your caravan float?
So why can't they pave the runways? Wouldn't it be easier ?
Love to fly the PAC
Do you ever have issues getting mud on the wings to the point where it affects performance in a similar way to icing?
With the wet/muddy runway, could you have considered using the left or right of the runway, hoping to encounter less mud?
No, because when you get off center line, there is potential to sink
what ratings, and hours are required to fly for your company?
About your KitFox, is the new owner known in the bush plane crowd? Safe travels.
No, he is just getting into flying tailwheel
@@MissionaryBushPilot Thanks for that.
Did Brad go?
Great video as always. What's the yellow spray you use for windscreen cleaning? Thanks&Cheers
Pledge furniture polish
@@MissionaryBushPilot thanks, I've been spending a lot of $ on VuPlex, whilst this is probably the same formula, but 5x cheaper.
Is there ever enough mud on the wings to worry about air flow and lift?
no, I didn't notice any difference
I noticed you set your altimeter for your airport elevation to get the 'correct' pressure. Do you leave it there for the entirety of your flight? I'm assuming these bush strips don't have wx reporting. Thanks!
yes, we set an area altimeter setting which is pretty close to the on the ground at these locations. Sometimes a 100 feet off
what are you using to clean the screen?
Where is that runway?
What is going on in Papua-Neuguinea? I saw a horrific video from tribal violants around Port Moresby! I hope you and your loved once are safe there.
we are safe where we will in Goroka
I know RainX works wonders for my semi windshield during winter driving. Treating the plane's windscreen might let the mud just slide right off. If you want to try it, I'll mail you some.
RainX I hear is bad for lexan windows. I hear it's only for glass
@@MissionaryBushPilot
Bummer! didn't know that.
This is in papua?
Question you said you like to "SAG" a landing, its your preferred approch. What do you mean by that. I can guess but not 100% sure and nothing on google.
means I don't fly a perfect line down to the ground, I get low on part of the approach and have to level off for a second to get back on the "string" approach
I'm curious if you Bush pilots have any guidelines for how much mud you allow on your wings--I know the Kodiak airfoil isn't as "sensitive" as on sailplanes, but I'd imagine mud might start having similar effects as icing?
Probably but we usually don't get them too muddy very often
What headset do you use?
how much mud can you have on the wing before it affects lift ?
Haven't reached that limit yet, but more than this
Thanks!
I wonder if any mud got ingested into the engine.
No, inlet bypass helps.
🥰
Why was that not an IFR flight?
It was filed as an IFR flight, but it's WAY different than IFR in the States or Europe. It's basically like VFR flight following, but with and IFR flight plan
