Tobirama obviously realizing Madara faked his own death, after checking his body, so he desperatly creates this jutsu for the leaf village, so they can revive hashirama when needed to face Madara.
Madara Edo Tensei'ing himself is lowkey one of the coolest things he did. Everyone was like "Hah! we got you!" and he's like "yeah nah"

Couple problems.
First of all, they'd need to kill GUY without him opening the 8th gate, or just you know.... fucking destroying whatever poor fool they sent to kill him.
Second, he'd absolutely use the 8th gate if he really was going to be killed anyway, and then his body would be completely destroyed leaving no DNA for them to take afterwards.

The reanimation jutsu can be retooled into an immortality jutsu. A pair of shinobi could agree to use themselves as a sacrifice for their own reanimation and just have the other perform the ceremony. Yeah they technically die for a second but they basically attain immortality without having to victimize anyone else. And it would require absolute trust in your partner since after they reanimate you they could take control of you. But still, Im surprised the writers didn't have Madara do that.

Well when somebody is reanimated, they have all the skills they had when they alive, and nowhere does it state that they cant use Edo Tensei, so technically yes, he could. And doesnt that mean if a reanimation's summoner dies, they can use edo tensei, which doesnt that make them they're new summoner?

@@Menoman235 Madara performed reanimation jutsu on himself that's why he is still there even after Kabuto released all edo tensei.
Actually 1 flaw you forgot to mention is that if the reanimated shinobi has any dying wishes (Sai's brother for example wanted to see Sai's completed book) and those wishes were fulfilled (it can be simpler but i dont have the time to explain. But simply put, their soul will be at peace and will release itself from the edo tensei no jutsu

All incarnations of the rasengan and their strengths and weaknesses
THE_READS magnet style rasengan, lava style, wind style rasengan, lighting release rasengan, fire release rasengan, water release rasengan. Now upgrade all of them to rasenshuriken. Standard naruto
There are special ones also, for example there is the one I can't remember what kind it was but naruto used it in six paths buddha mode(or whatever its called) and it was yellow. There is also the tailed beast bomb version and possibly a few others i'm forgetting.

I don't really get how they did the rasengan in the last, in a few of the scenes his chakra was orange but in one of them he had a blue rasengan. I understand that in the anime all chakra was blue and in the manga they had different colors but idk why they merged them lol

It does. Kabuto had already kidnapped hundreds of people to use the reanimation jutsu on, that’s why when Itachi forces Kabuto to release the jutsu we see a bunch of random corpses fall out of them. Kabuto is messed up

Edit: 1) edo's are brought back in their prime forms 2) when revived edo's body parts are not the reanimated persons body parts, the hosts body is simply given the properties of the reanimated persons body (ie, madara doesnt physically HAVE a rinnegan, the hosts eye is simply given the properties of a rinnegan, because madara had one on his prime) 3) everyone can receive a rinnegan through transplant, baby nagato was given one 4) hotdogs are not sandwiches, the piece of bread the contents of the hotdog rests between is conjoined, if a hotdog is a sandwich so is a quesadilla, a burrito, a taco and a pie
When reanimated you dont have eyes like how Madara eye socket is empty

east3myway shadow clones suck. can only be hit once, are limited in power based on the users power. overall, not worth my time.
If your reanimations can use shadow clones, I think that's even better.
+Mi right because not only do they have unlimited chakra just like you, depending on how many clones is summoned, you can use your final and strongest jutsu as many times as you want without the consequences of chakra exhaustion and/or death.
Kakka CarrotCake Power in numbers I say. The only draw back I can think of is that all of your clones only get smaller and smaller fractions of your power, so if you have hundreds out at once they might only be able to use very basic abilities. And they're also vulnerable to area of effect attacks.
Infinite chakra? Are we sure about it, because some reanimated shinobi did run out of chakra, even Hashirama.
Kinda horrifying thing is about this jutsu is its creation. Imagine, Tobirama needed living people to create this technique.

It's not quite "infinite", they just don't run out of chakra when using techniques. They still have limits to how much they can use at once.

Perhaps I'm mistaken but I believe a few flaws and quasi-flaws were left out.
Flaw- You can simply be too awesome to be controlled. It's heavily implied that Hashirama remained under Oorichimaru's control simply out of politeness and that Oorichimaru knew it. I believe the line is roughly "He was foolish to bring me back so close to my full power."
Quasi-Flaw- If the summoned person has no unfinished business they will not stay summoned. Of course that was hit and miss. A lot of them that worked on like Granny Chiyo and Sasori, alternatively Itachi and. . .Ino's Sensei stuck around despite seemingly having no reason. Really this flaw is more plot-no-jutsu
Quasi-Flaw- They can also be killed by whatever that ninjutsu nullification orb that Six Paths Madara was rocking. Minato didn't even notice he was missing an arm until someone told him.
Quasi-Flaw- You cannot feel anything in that state. As evidence by Minato not noticing he was missing an arm. Additionally Madara is positively euphoric at the sensation of pain when the . . .other Tensai brings him back to life proper.
Also Advantage, the caster can probably see through your eyes or something similar though White Zetsu was still around and might have been giving Kabuto play by plays to know when to rob this guy or that of his free will.

Orochimaru let hashirama get brought back at full power. The first time, he nerfed hash.
The reason the edo was hit or miss was because kabuto was mass controlling bodies and hadn't reinforced the edo yet. That's because of kabuto doing nothing but summoning and putting them in auto attack mode with personalities attached.

I just don't get why that made a difference to the specific point I'm talking about. Itachi was clearly free of his control (hell kabuto wasn't under Kabuto's control at that point) and he didn't release until later. Asuma clearly had his emotions which I would assume was the important bit. Meh. Fiction isn't always perfect.
Makes me wonder how the war would've worked out if Kabuto was able to reanimate the first 4 hokage
Then the war would have gone one out of two ways. One is that the first four Hokage would devastate literally everyone on the battlefield. Hashirama alone is probably enough to take out Naruto, Bee, Guy and Kakashi if he goes completely all-out. Add Tobirama, Minato and Hiruzen on top of everyone else like Nagato, the other Kage, Rinnegan Obito AND Madara, the war wouldn't even be a war.
The second way is that Hashirama just completely resists Kabuto's attempts at controlling him since he was able to do the same to Orochimaru. Tobirama then undoes the jutsu since he knows the hand seals. Those two go on to subdue the Hiruzen and Minato if necessary and then go on to subdue Kabuto and potentially go on to either defeat practically every other Edo Tensei in the war aside from Madara. The war practically ends as Hashirama and Tobirama can likely take Edo Madara out and everyone else was dealt with by the Allied Shinobi Forces or Itachi and Sasuke.

The 1st and 2nd were under the control of orochimaru. they didnt have free will and their personalities were even dulled.
The only reason madara was able to use the hand signs to undo the jutsu was because he was not being fully controlled by kabuto because he thought madara would just fight on his own.
The reanimation jutsu is kinda like the dragon balls, death just lost meaning after it was introduced.

Everything that can be classified as chakra can be erased by the gudodama so that's not a weakness specific to Edo Tensei.
Monty2289 it doesn't affect sage charkra as Naruto demonstrated that on obito. its only affects ninjutsu not all types of charkra.

From what I can tell, the reanimated people don't have infinite chakra, but rather regenerate chakra extremely quickly. I mostly think this because there have been times where reincarnated people didn't have enough chakra for stuff(Minato needed Naruto and the Kyubi to put a chakra cloak on everyone).
thats because minato can only teleport people connected to his chakra not because he was out of it

He didnt need to, orochimaru didnt control him so its not like he was doing something that he didnt want to. After hearing about the war, he would probably want to help as well. Also, iirc, he showed that he could overpower the edo tensei just like hashirama so i am convinced that he chose to not free himself

If you mean the first fight with the 3rd Hokage, Orochimaru summoned a weak Tobirama so he couldn't undo the jutsu
and that's why EVERY shinobi could benefit from knowing these handseals
Aside from Madara and a few other shinobi, nothing prevents the edo tensei caster from taking direct control over the edo and then that weakness is solved, however it would make it pretty impossible to handle a small army of edos, since Kabuto didnt show the capacity to take direct control of anything more than 3-4 shinobi at a given time (up to kage level)

For those wondering why Orochimaru was able to summon the 1st and 2nd Hokaga back in Part 1 when he neaded to cut open th reapers stomach in part 2, they were not sealed in the reaper at that point. The 3rd Hokage used two shadow clones with the Reaper Death Seal to seal both the souls of the then reanimated 1st and 2nd Hokages along with Orochimaru's arms. Just realised it myself after looking at the wiki page for the Reaper Death Seal.

It's probably tied to the goal of the infinite tsukuyomi which is to feed the chakra tree
Reanimations are lifeless so they don't have anything of value to the tree
Are they affected by the Contract Seal Fuinjutst? It removes control of the summon from the summoner, and Edo Tensei "summons" the deceased.

There's another mechanic to the Edo Tensei that should be pointed out.
When they say "limitless" chakra, they only mean that their chakra can't be depleted. Their base chakra amount that they have to begin with is limited, just like when they were alive.
Say a shinobi had a base chakra stat of 25 while they were alive. a jutsu would cost them 5 chakra, dropping their chakra level to 20.
As an Edo Tensei, their jutsu no longer depletes their chakra, but their base chakra stat is still 25.
They wouldn't be able to do any techniques that require more than their base chakra limit, but they can use abilities within their limit as much as they want.

Swagkage, there's actually a few issues here regarding the whole "Infinite Chakra" thing. Madara states it has unlimited chakra but when Hashirama and Minato are reanimated, they apparently ran out of chakra during the war arc. I even checked this in the manga and sure enough, they state this.
That just could be a plot hole, because as far as i know they shouldn't be able to run out of energy no matter what.

Really I think instead of giving the edo's infinite regen and chakra they should've just made it so kabuto's edo's have the full power of when they were alive, meaning we get to see them at their full power but without being too broken.

Madara was alive up until the 4th Hokage. He can see everything that happened.
when he died it was the time of 4th hokage plus he was able to keep track of whats happening in the outside world through the white zetsus

HEY SWAGKAGE, i believe you missed some info. I was reading up on Karui. During the 4th war her n others were fighting edo Tatewaki. Naruto talked to him n apparently 'had no more regrets or emotional bonds to earth, allowing him to break the summoning contract'.

The Infinite Tsukoyomi probably doesn't affect the dead selectively, not because it can't but because they're walking dead bodies with no life force. If it went after dead bodies then it'd be digging up graves.

if someone were to bring nagato back with edo tensei would they be able to farm infinite rinnegan? I figure if they remove the eye it would regenerate, but would the first eye disintegrate or remain? If the jutsu is released would the transplanted eyes disappear too? or would they stick around because they weren't attached anymore? if it did work would there be any affects positive or negative?
Sorry to be "that guy". Nagato got sealed by itatchi before Madera was summoned. I just happen to be rewatching the series right now and was refreshed on that. Love your vids man

The jinchuuriki reanimations weren't exceptions. Their differences were the Gedo jutsu Obito used to force the Tailed Beasts back into them through Rinnegan. And he had a lot of stack of Sharingans at his disposal because of the Uchia incident. Also The Gedo Jutsu turns your eye into the Rinnegan as it was shown when Naruto first fought Nagato who was using corpses(Pain). Obito was doing the same with regenerating ones.

one thing I think he got wrong though was that reanimated people have unlimited chakra as after a long all out brawl both madara and hashiramas bodies stopped regenerating fully and they seemed to be resorting to smaller scale abilities imply that while they have ass loads of chakra it is not unlimited.
They have unlimited chakra and all of their abilities. The only restriction on the reanimated souls is the caster.
If the caster is not defeated then the reanimations will not die or run out of chakra unless sealed.

Seems weird that if the reanimated person knows the seals to the technique he or she can undo the control the summoner has on them, that Tobirama did do that when he and his brother were forced to fight the Hiruzen.
Side note: If a summoned person is strong enough, they can overpower the binding and control of the summoner, as when Orochimaru summoned the first four Hokage in Part 2.

I do agree that the reanimation jutsu is by far the most broken jutsu in the series. Also, it's weird how you can't summon people who were trapped in the Reaper's belly, but you can summon the people who used the Reaper jutsu to do said sealing, like when Orochimaru attempted to summon the 4th Hokage in his fight with Sarutobi.

ACTUALLY, there is a mask Orochimaru searched for that enables the ability to return souls used for the reaper death seal. Which he explained when he brought back Minato and Hiruzan. Since he explained he failed to bring back the 4rth when he tried during his attack on the hidden leaf.
