Well in the past I know James (Spike) alluded to getting so mad that Buffy fans loved spike and it ruined his vision for the character. He said he shoved him . Nicholas has said in the past that he was told to stop working out because nerds aren’t buff. So men have spoken out in the past. I watched recently a clip where James says he had to bleach his hair every week. Maybe we will get more to come from them?

Silence about what? Being a prick. They are complaining about comments he made to them. That's not psychological abuse. Go talk to that spouse that can't look up from the ground because there husband is so insecure about her looking at other men. Go talk to that girlfriend that is told every day that she is pathetic and will never amount to anything in her life. Go talk to that significant other that is humiliating in public by having outbursts in a restaurant where they are screaming in their face.
The reason you don't hear from the men is because they knew he was a dick to work for and knew that it didn't constitute "abusive and toxic" sets.
She had problems with Joss Whedon on multiple levels while doing the show. With how her pregnancy and religious views led to conflicts with him. Then his writing her character off of the show after making her vary unappealing only for executives to coax her back for a final episode were they killed her in a pretty insignificant scene probably has the bitter ex effect pretty strong with her. Couple that end to a professional relationship with her not really having any real film career beyond low budget strait to DVD B-movies and you can see the resentment is strong here.
@@magita1991 I doubt this. If viewers continually watch a show for their favorite character, why would Whedon be angry. Being angry at the person that keeps people tuning in each week doesn't seem believable at all.
@@davidmurphy1207 Actually we did hear from the men, they said they were all shocked to hear it, which is complete bull. Once it got around set that he wasn't allowed to be alone with Michelle there was no way they didn't know something was up. Well I haven't seen anything from the dude who played Angel (probably b/c he had his own spinoff and wasn't there much during Michelle's tenure), but the actors that played Spike and Giles were.

I am so glad the Actress: Charisma Carpenter spoke out! It sounds like Director/Writer/Producer Joss Whedon was really abusive on the set. I think I believe her.

About how Whedon was verbally abusive for years, berated her for getting a tattoo, pitted actors against each other, called her fat on multiple occasions while she was 4 months pregnant, lied for years about Charisma telling him about her delibertly avoiding her and when he finally spoke to her about it, asked her if she was going to keep, then continued to attack her when she did, accused her of ruining the show and many other things, then fired her on top of everything else. So no, she wasn't vague...
Amber Benson, who co-signed Charisma's statement, said that he created a very toxic environment on the Buffy set...

If you have ever worked in the industry (I have), it’s FULL of elitist, racist, materialistic, judgmental, scumbags, who don’t give a crap about respect, and human decency, it’s all about, are you tall, fit, hot, marketable and preferably white, not necessarily about your talent, and for everyone else, it’s how can we use you to make as much money as possible, then disregard you. It’s fkn disgusting, and you want to speak out, but you don’t/ can’t if you want to possibly be cast, and if you don’t get cast, you still don’t speak up, because you want to try for a roll another time, these people, casting agents, all the way up to the top executives, are demons in human skin for sure.

Yes Jenna Ortega, Ray Fisher, James Masters, Charisma Carpenter I think even the woman who played Buffy Sarah Michelle Geller said something about his behavior on set as well. so there does seem to be a bit of a pattern of his behavior.

He got angry with Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant even though she tried to call him multiple times to tell him before filming started and he completely ignored her calls. Then he ruined her character on Angel and killed her off even though she said that she’d only come back if Cordelia wasn’t killed off. He also made her come to work at 1am while pregnant, which can be dangerous. And it’s not just Charisma. James Marsters has also spoken out against him, revealing that Joss pinned him against a wall and yelled at him because of Spike’s popularity when he was originally meant to be a minor character.

@@Wareaglegirl9960 it was bad because she was about 8 months pregnant and her doctors told her she needed to do short work hours to prevent any more strain and stress on her body. She said she had braxton hicks from working long hours. Whedon didn't want to cut her hours. He was overall mad that she got pregnant. He even asked her if she was going to keep her child.
Buffy has been a huge part of my life, and it is deeply saddening to learn more and more that Whedon is the worst kind of garbage, the kind that profits off of presenting a particular kind of story on screen, while being a monster behind it. But nothing is more awful than the abuse he inflicted on Charisma Carpenter and others. Can we reclaim Buffy from Whedon, take it away and make it our own, remove any lingering power he may hold? Or does continuing to engage in it revel in the cruelty that got a lot of what we see up there? Power to Ms. Carpenter and others who have been brave enough to stand up and speak out. I will listen and follow their lead; how THEY feel the show should be framed goo g forward is the example I will look to.

She spoke out in support of the actor from Justice league that complained about him. I don't think she would have said anything otherwise. And he spoke out before the movie was even released so you can't say "literally" as there are cases that don't fit your narrative.

When Charisma got pregnant Joss was pissed because that wasn’t what he wanted for Cordelia so when she told him he berated her, yelled at her constantly on set, called her fat and asked if she was going to keep it which is an inappropriate and invasive question no boss should ask that. I understand he was upset but he took it way too far and shouldn’t have berated, yelled, and insulted her just for being pregnant.
But why does this always happen when their careers are stale. They never do this when they are on the come up.

Carpenter is just releasing the statement she already made in private to WBs investigation for the Ray Fisher claims (this was rumoured when she left the show waaaay back, so it's not coming out of nowhere) because WB announced they were letting Ray Fisher go as Android in the DC universe.
If they ever wanted to keep working in the industry, they would have to keep their mouths shut. Actors gets blacklisted if they f with the wrong people.
This isn't true. Many currently popular movie stars accused Harvey Weinstein when they were at the height of their fame. Besides, for a victim to speak up about abuse--especially against a powerful individual--it takes an immense amount of time to muster up the courage. Have some compassion.

Why is it no one that doesnt need money has nothing to say? David Boreanaz? Gellar? Hannigan? Seth green? Greenwalt? Its only the ppl whos careers failed after the shows, and theyre being super careful not to legally slander whedon.
Her castmates (including Gellar) are backing her up on her claims. Given this dude's history of infidelity and other accusations, I'm leaning towards believing her.
It’s because they have the most the lose. People who get to the top are always afraid to “fall” down and they know that one wrong move can be the reason why you won’t get cast again. We saw with Harvey Weinstein how powerful the people behind movies/tv-shows are and many actors are afraid of them, because they can make or break you.
@MD JG her statement was very clear in that she believes charisma and does not want to associate with joss. she probably has her own story given that it’s well known they didn’t get along. damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.
@MD JG Michelle Trachtenberg also backed up and alluded to Joss inappropriate behavior in regards to when Michelle was teenager on the show. Just because Sarah doesn't want to get into details, doesn't make what she said weak. Sarah was always very protective of Michelle so who knows what happened and if something happened to Michelle, it's not SMG's place to say...
David Boreanaz has his own inappropriate behavior rumors of his own from that era, so he might not want to shake the table himself, but he did like SMG's instagram post. Hannigan is besties with Whedon, SMG spoke up, Michelle Trachtenberg spoke up. Just because people aren't they're not saying as soon as a story breaks, doesn't mean anything. Some people need time, especially if they didn't see the outing coming and want to process everything first. No sense on forcing someone to speak 'cause it's not our place...

Nobody cares... The same complaints were factually thrown at Ellen and she kept her show... Why should this be any different?
Because it is important to bring accusations to the surface. For the healing of the victims and the trauma they've gone through.
Ellen is on her way out though. It takes time for contracts to expire or to be bought out. She’s clearly on a downward trajectory.

He probably won't get to make anything big anyway after Justice League. Most people hated that movie.
His second avengers movie also underperformed.
He should have had legal action taken when it came out that he was creeping on Michelle way back during Buffy. If the whole crew knows not to leave him alone with her then there has to be evidence to put him away.

She's getting support from her castmates, who are backing up her allegations. Whedon had a lot more pull back then, probably why nobody said anything back then. There's too many allegations now to ignore it, not to mention cheating on his wife.
He fired her because she got pregnant. It’s a huge ethical violation.
She's been saying this way back than too. It's just now with social media that its brought out into the spotlight more.

Everyone has different ethical standards. If her cause of his "ethical violation" then made him have to rewrite most of a season's script and rework a studio budget which caused a ton of extra work because she wanted to keep it than she is responsible for conduct detrimental to the show production. The 100 other actresses he's directed in movies and shows could keep from squeezing one out while they were shooting. Sarah Michelle Gellar has multiple kids, had more scenes to shoot, more "physical" scenes to shoot, and much more pressure to perform but the worst you could get out of her was "Look I didn't *just* do *that* show. I got more important things to worry about"
That sounds like someone that knows she is lashing out because of bitterness over personal differences and how badly they ended her involvement in Angel.
@@davidmurphy1207 he was the one who was unprofessional, he wouldn’t take her calls. Plenty of movies and tv shows work around pregnant actresses anyway. His treatment of her character was vindictive and ruined the show for a lot of fans. In “Avengers” he even worked with Scarlet Johansson while she was pregnant and added a line about how infertile women feel monstrous. He has weird hang ups about women that affect his work.
Why because she’s a nobody and needs a reboot ?
She has backup of the cast.
