    This is such amazing
    I have been working as full stack developer at F500 for 1.5 years after teaching myself coding for 2 years.
    I am currently building my SASS app while working full time.
    My ultimate goal will be to join google or Microsoft next year.
    Thanks a lot .

    My question is what would the career path look like salary wise, from not only from a 7 year period but from a 20, or 30 year period. Would the CS degree in the long term be beneficial? Does the unconventional path eventually hit diminishing returns with time?

    • @aficachi
      @aficachi  11 месяцев назад

      No. If anything, a degree becomes more irrelevant with time. A few years of experience, especially at a well known tech company, trumps having a degree.
      I remember a survey was done on Blind (teamblind.com) which showed people without a degree made just a few thousand less (

      nah degree is waste of time if you're able to learn to code and progress without it on your own with discipline, watch the video called why stanford Computer Science degree is trash or something similar and you'll understand why

    Do you have any insight into Dev adjacent roles (such as DevOps or Cloud Engineering) and the requirements there? I have a degree and a couple of years experience in DevOps, but am considering a move to FAANG due to my low salary. I feel underprepared when comparing myself to others in the industry and want to follow a similar path as you, but into that space.

    I still know the law of cosines that I learned more than 20 years ago. No need to review anything. I'm wondering that other people have to do that.

    • @aficachi
      @aficachi  11 месяцев назад

      You've probably solved many problems using the law of cosines, which in itself serves as a form of review. This repetition is likely what has helped you ingrain it in your memory. The aim of spaced repetition algorithms is to minimize the number of reviews required, thereby increasing time efficiency.
      Hypothetically, even if you learned about the law of cosines just once and never reviewed it afterward, this is probably a cherry-picked example. You likely haven't memorized all the other concepts that were presented to you only once. If you have, then you possess a photographic memory, which is both a gift and extremely rare.
