  • The plaintiff says she gave her landlord notice when she moved and left the place immaculate, but the defendant refuses to return her security deposit. She’s suing for all she’s owed. The defendant says he lowered the rent when the plaintiff lost her job and she never paid it back, so he took it from her security deposit. He’s countersuing for back rent.

the landlord did profit off the plaintiff, even though he agreed to reduce her rent , he was still profiting by what she was paying as opposed to him having an empty unit making zero dollars . also , the rest of us mortals have to be nice when dealing with others so why is it so amazing that landlords can be nice too like a normal person should be . who cares how nice he sounds , the fact is that he lied about the security deposit and he did not reduce the rent to be nice , he made a business decision to reduce it because it made her a long term paying tenant . nice is letting a tenanat live there for free , and she paid rent so he is not the saint the judge is making him out to be .

@@marleonetti7 Of course he’s in it to make a profit but the truth is most land lords aren’t interested in a tenant’s sob story and the definitely aren’t trying to lower your rent for any lengthy period of time. So while he was still making money she was getting a good deal.

@@cflournoy1529 ok fine . but when we find a good deal on something , we generally dont credit that to the seller being nice , but we credit that to a seller who found a way to make a decent profit while still being able to give a good price . maybe this landlord got a great deal on the property and he did not have to charge market value in order to make a good profit . maybe he was just fortunate and he passed along the savings . but that doesnt mean he is some type of extra nice person because of it .
