I was doing everything wrong. Thread spool going in wrong direction; threaded around the disc top left and didn't put the bobbin thread into the notch. Watched this and got it working first time. I’ve had this for about 6 months and have not been able to use it until today. I just want to thank you so much. I’m new at it all. Sewing, bobbin, what each thing is. I thought I’d give up but I bumped in to this video and you are just my hero. My sewing machine is not in the thrash. I’m saving your video for the future in case I forget. Thank you so much for posting this! I just bought a Janome Mini and was still confused after reading the directions. I feel more confident after watching this.
I have never used a sewing machine in my life and bought the sew mini a year ago- Your intro made me laugh. I've wanted to learn to sew for years but did not know how to begin. Thanks you so much for these tutorials-! They've helped me finally begin my sew journey!
Thank you very much! So long I am not using my sawing machine, and now I was wanting use and I realize I didn't know to use it, I had forgotten, and I had no idea where I put the manual. So I am blessed u made this and made my life easier. Thank you very much. Hope you and your family are ok there.

For people having trouble with the bobbin loop picking up, I've got the same problem with mine and I can't fix it. Underneath that plate is a spinning bobbin holder, which spins in sync with the needle (2 turns of the plate for 1 dip of the needle). When the needle dips down, there's a hook on the spinning bobbin holder that should hook the thread and drag the thread from the needle around, causing the bobbin thread to get picked up. However, for some reason the spike is missing the needle thread, so it never gets dragged around and loops around the bobbin thread. I have no idea how to fix this, but it *might* be that the bobbin holder isn't quite in sync with the needle any more. I haven't found a way to change (it resists manual force and I think that if I push to hard something inside will snap and then it'll never work). I've posted this comment in case it helps someone else work out how to fix the issue.
Wow! Ok this tutorial is absolutely the best by far! You were so detailed that I was able to see the subtle mistakes that I was making! Previous to finding the tutorial I spent 2 stressful hours with my machine thread constantly getting hung up inside. Thank you so much for this very detailed, informative tutorial!

Try holding the tread from the needles at a 45% angle. Then turn the wheel on the right side. Turn the wheel so the needle dips into the hole and make sure your holding the thread up. Sometimes this will work. If not! Exchange the sewing machine.
Thank you so, so much! I, like several others here; bought one of these little beauty's without a user's manual/ instruction guide. Your video however, gave me the confidence to finally thread & use my machine [for the first time!]. For me- the very thought of 'threading it' incorrectly- was enough to prevent me from giving it a go (I thought it'd break or something- if I accidentally threaded it wrong].The verdict;- I love it! it's AN AMAZING LITTLE SEWING MACHINE- THAT TRULY HAS POTENTIAL!

My machine is basically this with a different name. I am having trouble getting the bobbin up but what a great video this is. Really appreciate how you have taken so much time over every detail. Really helpful. Thank you for being so selfless with your time and skill. If anyone has any trouble shooting tips or foolproof ways to get that Bobbin thread up please let me know, I am beginning to think it's just a "thing" with these machines. :-)
I have been reading the instructions for another machine in regards to threading and stumbled across this clip. What I have noticed is that many of the basic functions and procedures on different machines are the same so this clip is helpful for other types of machines as well. You took time to explain things PLUS get good camera angles and used good lighting. Will save this clip for sure!
Thank you so much... I was tasked (be my daughter!) with setting up the sewing machine for her and thanks to your simple, clear instructions its now threading and sewing...! Thanks again :)
I lost my instruction booklet for this machine recently and I've been running into problems. But I think your video just helped me! 😍 After days of searching the Internet, I think all of my sewing machine problems have gone away. lol. Thank you!
This video is awesome! I had the same issue and found the manual to download at janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/other-models/inst-book-525a-sewminiefs.pdf

Answer for silkyorganza- This little machine is GREAT for fabric! I was going to purchase a more expensive machine, but when the saleslady saw me carrying it around, she directed me to the less expensive Sew Mini Janome instead. She said she had been assigned to demonstrate it at a sewing expo, had been worried at first about it not being a very good machine, and then discovered how amazing it really was. So I bought this one to use when we travel in our RV.

thank you so much! I got a sunbeam sawing machine a while back and only just opened it because I wanted to learn how to use it. and handsawing though I'm not bad at it is time consuming. it took me awhile to figure out where the bobbin string goes on mine though.I found alot of people had trouble. the little bit to rap the string from the bottom is oddly placed compare to yours. I figured it out with trial and error though. but your video helped greatly! didnt know I had to hook it on anything:/

Great tutorial. I am having a problem with my janome. can you tell me what am I doing wrong. When I start sewing the bobbin get all tangled up. please help.
+Michelle Sade Smith are you lowering the presser foot so it's touching the fabric? The lever is in the back of the machine under the little archway. I did that at first too. Also you may need to tighten the tension- the little dial on the thread guide with numbers.

Hi I’ve threaded and bobbed correctly but my thread is still breaking every single time it’s like it knotting up under the needle behind the bobbin I have followed ur vid every step and it’s still doing it
nooriginality007 same thing happened to me at first you just have to keep trying:) Trust me it works but the loop might come up under the needle cage (that's what happened to me)just pull It the same way she did! :)

I got mine in the box at the garage sale, and it didnt come with a manual. This video is VERY helpful.
Thank you, so much!

I'd recently bought one of those cheap machines from China which was already threaded and works like a dream.
Now I have two working machines; which is very handy when needing to use different coloured threads on a project.
Thank you so much for a very clear explanation without any of the waffle that others do. Simple instructions help greatly.

i don’t know if this would work but after it failing about 10 times for me, i spun the side wheel towards me twice rather than once and it worked
Is your needle fitted the right way around? Try rotating the needle 180 degrees (i.e. switch the flat on the shank to face in the other direction).

thank you so much!
Thank you a million Times I just became a sewing pro😎
Thank u! Now i can set up my machine properly in school, thnx for explaining it so nicely! :D ^^
Busque muchísimos vídeos sobre esta maquina y este que ni estaba en mi idioma la pude en saltar con el love you : )

Thank you for the extra guide .. although i did thread it.. the threading is front to back n mot sideways
Try leaving the bobbin door off and bring the bobbin thread to the back.

Hi I’ve threaded and bobbed correctly but my thread is still breaking every single time it’s like it knotting up under the needle behind the bobbin I have followed ur vid every step and it’s still doing it
Wow, thank you so much !
Any tips for when the loop doesn’t bring up the bobbin thread?
Sweet! Thank you
