    Oh thank God! As you know Graeme, I accidentally bought 2, 1L bottles of the GT and therefore have about 647 years of wheel cleaning ahead of me. I'm seriously impressed with the amount of work that must've gone into this, fair play to you Sir. 👏. Re the direction of travel, I've always gone top to bottom, but I'm now thinking, maybe that's less safe, all the crud from above landing on the bottom of the wheel, then getting scrubbed, think I'll amend the practice. All the best.

    It's a hard thing to rate as the only separating factors are price and user experience but I think you did a brilliant job of describing the usage of each one.

      I did mean to cover that but it rained next day of the first round and you couldn’t tell which was cleaner so had to give up on that one , previously I’ve had comments saying a shampoo just won’t clean deep enough for a dressing to be applied & they certainly won’t remove a previous dressing but if used in combination with a tyre conditioner, the shampoo is all you really need in my opinion anyway

    Good video Graeme. I use P&S Brake Buster in my IK Foamer diluted. In the bucket normal car shampoo for my brushes. This has proven a good combination on my diamond cut black wheels and i actually use a Vikan on the face of my wheels, soft bristles no adverse effect on the wheels. Excellent review. Was struggling with the concept of wheel shampoos but your demo with panel shampoo and your emphasis on user enjoyment are right on the money. That said, Surfex is my current one stop shop for panel and sill pre wash, including wheels and arches, plus AG rebound for tyres but GT wheel shampoo looks more fun even at the expense of adding another product although if decent on tyres maybe say goodbye to Rebound. Good tip on sequencing bottom to top.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Год назад

      Thanks mate, I’ve just recently started playing around with surfex and it’s many many uses, wheel cleaning was one of them but wasn’t the most enjoyable product to use for me on my wheels, the shampoo won’t initially clean tyres as well as rebound but if you’re using it weekly or even bi weekly you should find the shampoo adequate.
      See how you get on with the wheel routine to see if it’s worth while and let me know your thoughts 👌

    Absolutely smashed it out the park here mate, thoroughly great video. I don't know how you had the patience to test, film and edit all of this but it's definitely paid off.
    Not surprised by your results, I think most people would think GT would come out on top. I've been using Hoops recently as I got 5L of it for something like 20 quid on black Friday, I've only ever used it in the bucket but as you've found it doesn't seem to provide much in the way of lubrication which is a shame. Maybe it'll be worth trying it in a foamer and seeing if I get more agreeable results. Ultimately I reckon I'll have to pick up some GT wheel shampoo though.

      My iPad was jittering using the wee app I use and I thought it may crash but all is good, only took 3.5 hrs to export 🤣
      Maybe increase the amount of Hoops you use to make it a bit better , I have a soft spot for it being one of the first ones I tried but now it’s one of the least enjoyable products to use 🥴

      The first one I used is a newer one to the smaller one in the second half of the video and performs better maybe it’s just cause it’s so new 🤔

  • @andywhite2930
    @andywhite2930 Год назад +2

    Great video G. You can see the effort put into this one and I know you really have put some time in but it's paid off.
    I have used a few of these shampoos and can't agree more on the outcome. To think GT were probabaly the original pioneers of the wheel shampoo and it's taken the rest of the industry 3/4 years to catch up and bring their own out yet some of them seem way off still on the performance. 🤔
    Process wise I tend to rinse off between putting the brushes back rather than carry a second bucket around but I think use whatever process works for you.
    Interestingly try Autoglanz alkalloy in an IK foamer next time you get a achance. I actually think it performs better across your categories than Hoops does imo😵‍💫

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Год назад +1

      Thanks Andy!, yes I had to be very careful not to mix up any of the footage (nearly did at one point 😤) and there was 2 phones used as well 🤣🤣
      Maybe too much effort as it’ll never get seen in the tens of thousands but never mind 🤣
      I was late coming into GT for wheel shampoos with having HDD & Hoops first to use up but when I made my first video on GT I was actually blown away!!
      Out of most of the wheel cleaners I’ve used I do like Alkalloy the best so I’ll give it a try in the foamer and the bucket is a substitute for rinsing as my water spray trigger broke and the garden hose has a twist nozzle so that’s a hassle to use with one hand so a bucket works best for me until I find a new gun for the hose
      Glad you enjoyed it mate 😃

    Just one very trivial minor thing and that is I notice that your good self (and others) pronounce the makers of the wheel brushes as ‘E Zed’. Love hearing how you get uk products out to you, I was talking to Maz earlier about GT wheel shampoo cleaning power and tbh I disagree with him thinking it’ll tackle baked on brake dust, if you have that it’s only going to be removed by a stronger chemical maybe even iron oxide, then there’s ceramic coatings for wheels, this is where wheel shampoo comes into its own.

    Great video graham as always.....one question though.....what is the difference between gt wheel shampoo and the decon shampoo? As i was thinking of buying the decon shampoo and using it on my car body and wheels

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Год назад +1

      Decon shampoo is a much higher alkaline shampoo, designed to help remove contaminants and old waxes / sealants etc whereas wheel shampoo is also a little above ph neutral but around 1,000x less alkaline in concentration
      There’s no issue with using Decon on wheels to clean them at all, just that if you used a wax or a sealant it wouldn’t last as long , hope that helps, I I were you I’d get both 😃

    Great video Graeme, very informative, thank you. GT wheel shampoo has been my go to product for quite a while now, I've just purchased some of the new Autobrite Direct Wheel And Tyre cleaner but I've not had a chance to try it out yet. A question about the IK foamer Pro, which one of the three mixers orange, grey or green did you use?

      @@GMDetails I bought that coating last summer but have not applied it yet. How did you find it as I have never used a coating before?

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Год назад

      Ah!, it’s a good coating , possibly one of the best as it’s durable for 2 or 3 years , application wise it’s not easy, there’s a nack to it and you have to be very careful , barrels I applied and left it , doesn’t need buffing or removal , the faces I applied one single coat and be careful not to keep going over any already applied areas , only do a 1/4 of a wheel at a time then take a low pile microfibre and wrap around your finger , you’ll find it really sticky but with a bit of pressure work your way around the applied areas without rubbing or going back over areas you’ve covered
      Then let cure 10-15 mins before buffing with high pile side
      You won’t see any flashing or rainbow effect with it , it’s quite a thick coating
      There is one video covering application on RUclips , search for it and follow that method, it’s the way I’ve just described
      Gold luck 😅
