      There a few places like that, it looks very similar to a part of the Wharfe at Ilkley accessed from the Denton/Askwith Road just along from the Rugby club.

      I'm not suggesting this is the same across all Yorkshire but in Wakefield in the 70s I was brought up with these definitions:
      Ginnel - alley running between houses. Paved or tarmac. Walls or fences either side. Usually some sort of cut through to avoid having to walk the length of a street to get to a parallel street.
      Snicket - narrow usually unpaved lane with vegetation on at least one side.
      I've seen many ginnels that run between houses onto a snicket that runs behind the gardens of houses.
