Bro this feels imature ,gta 3,vc,sa moonume ore engine, gta 3 was too basic ,vc had new things and sa was having mind-blowing things ,but gta 4 is using rage engine ,so they have to do everything from scratch and they had only 4 years for release ,so they couldn't pull off big big things in gta 4 ,but you can see gta v is m9re advance than gta 4 becase they have created a base (gta 4) to develop things , now go see rdr2 is more advance than gta v , my speculation is gta 6 is going to be lightyears ahead gta iv , you can compare gta 6 with gta sa , because it is the 3rd entry for each era (3d and hd respectively)
Gta iv story is more mature than gta sa and gta v yes it has repetitive things but it is still masterpiece

Bro gta 4 is much better than gta sa in most of the aspects such as character, story, realism, and especially physics.. even gta 4 is much better than gta 5 in terms of realism... I love gta sa and i played it more than any other gta game... But it is not too perfect.. in someways the story is not realistic too...
Gta 4 may have dark,sad, boring story.. but it made sense for the dark gritty liberty city.. in many ways the game has mainly developed for physics... But sa is mainly focused on fun gameplay and an enjoyable story... Both are great games and they are great in their aspects..

First of all you should understand something Gta 4 was made as realistic as possible , and as it was the first hd game in the series they couldnt add many features and next The game story is very much better than san andreas , the theme is very mature you need to play it by being in nikos pov to understand, why would a 30 year old migrated illegal man have to do fun activities, there are fun activities like bowling and other stuff which is more realistic, so just dont blindly say that the gane is not good nd all u r the kind of people who llay the gane for fun and not the story
