Flying the A300-600 from Oakland to Los Angeles in Microsoft Flight Simulator

  • Two flights in one day! After the rapid unplanned disassembly we experienced earlier with the A300, in this flight we go much more "by the book", and the aircraft works pretty-much "as planned". We make a few procedural omissions along the way, but overall a confidence booster for this aircraft!

    Burbank Airport is interesting. You can see the original "Skunk Works" buildings. I used to use it all the time flying to LA, because it is small and close to Capitol Records which was my west coast base. That whole area is fun(!) Pete.

    I have found how to activate nose wheel steering in my case. EFB > Settings > Rudder Controls Tiller = Yes

    What Camera view do you use with the overhead panel???. I can not get the view of the overhead overhaed panel.

      I created my own view. Move the camera around the cockpit with the keyboard and mouse, then press CTRL+ALT+NUM to use it, press ALT+NUM

    Great video Jonathan. I have issues with nose wheel steering not working with A300. You didn't have issues? I'm using Thrustmaster Airbus and Thrustmaster Flight Rudder.

    Thank you Jonathan, very interesting as usual. It looks very much like the A310, is it really a different aircraft?

    • @jonbeckett

      It's almost identical in terms of the systems.

    How come your can switch all the buttons on and off all over the aircraft to controll it? Is it a mod?

      This is the Inibuilds Airbus A300 - NOT the A320 that comes with the simulator. Everything is clickable.

      No? Have you checked the settings in the tablet, and your various controller axis?

      You have to go into settings and put "Turning Rudder also turns tiller" option on

    Look i think it's ok, i don't personally think it's worth the money. It makes me appreciate the PMDG 737 so much more! I'll wait it out for the 777 from PMDG

    Do we have to use SIMBrief to get the route or waypoint up in the display? Or is there another way?

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  9 месяцев назад +1

      No - simbrief not needed - you can program the route by hand in the MCDU.

    I've put this away until they fix the sound. Not good enough for an addon in this price point.
    EDIT: I saw you had issues with your computer but it's more than that. The plane has a big problem, it starts at 10,000 feet. Ground sounds are awesome. It's a shame.
    I don't have faith it will be fixed. They ignored the A310 which has a similar fault.
    Only use anti-ice in visible moisture (cloud) AND the temperature is below 10c. The plane is telling you it's cold enough to ice, it's not telling you there is ice.

    I think you should disable the AP at the minimum while doing IFR approach it is much easier the AP will do the hard one. I know you love doing it by yourself I have been following you for about two years i know you better than myself. 😅

    Excellent landing considering you had speedbrakes extended all the way down the glide.

      @jonbeckett  9 месяцев назад +1

      I know! I realised after landing that the USB had done it again - not reacted to the quadrant. I may be in the market for a new controller soon.
