I can't get over how beautiful Alaska is. The only thing keeping me here where I am right now is that my parents are still alive. Once they are gone,I think I need to strike out and find my place where I am happiest. I hope everything fits into place for you String 🙂
I came up 42 years ago. I figure I was up here the great years when the oil money was good for both the people and the state. We were kids in our 20s making 3-4 times our age. We’d fly Seattle to watch games, ski weekends, back country canoeing and fishing, river rafting.......Ahh to be young again.
Wow!! It looks like heaven! I do believe shoestring this is the first time I've seen you in the air,not on it or a train!! So glad ur reaching ur destination, and making g ur dreams come true!! Thank you for this beauty you've shared with us,something I doubt I'll ever get see! God speed!
In the last 24 hours I've done a bit of paperwork, and gone to the grocery store. Whereas you have taken a huge step toward changing the way you live! That's incredible. I so appreciate you keeping us updated. You're an inspiration.
So glad to hear you arrived safely. I did a quick search for apartments in Anchorage, and the possibilities are there for finding something affordable. I think you're on the right track. Just don't forget those of us you left behind in the lower 48.
Thank you so much for the spectacular views. The mountains, glaciers and lakes are amazing. I understand why you are drawn there. Keep us updated on your adventures and stay clear of Yogi and Boo-Boo.
Happy you’re following your heart and going to where you love the most. If for some reason I had to move away from Washington State I too would choose Alaska! Can’t wait to see some shoestring Alaska videos!
Glad to see you made it safely. It's funny, I discovered your videos when I was living in Alaska, and now I live in the lower 48 and you're there. Keep them coming for all of us homesick Alaskans.

I miss the friends I made there and I will always think of it as my second home God Bless and safe travels!✌& thanks for the shots of Cook Inlet, Knik Arm and Palmer!! Damn I miss that place...seeing the water tower just brought back a flood of memories! !! No pun intended.

Hey Buddy this winter just will not give up this year. I’ve never seen one like this year I’ve been here since 1984. And this is the longest the snow has been on the Ground.
Oh I have stood in that very same spot at the valley bus stop thousands of times. Frozen my arse off for many hours over the years. Glad I don't have to anymore. Even spent every weekend hiking all over Palmer and surrounding areas, used to camp in the park in front of the river behind the cemetery there.
Glad you had a safe trip Shoestring. I hope everything works well for you up there. Alaska is a beautiful state. Take care and have a good one. 👍👍👍❤️🙏🏻
I'm happy your going to be riding trains less. I know you still will, and I love your train content, it's how we all found you, but I like you to be alive and happy

Man, Shoestring, you sure do have an interesting life. I’ve been watching your videos tonight, and I’ve seen you in an airplane, a train, a ship ferry, and an automobile through a 2.5 mile long tunnel! That’s living your best life, my friend. Great adventures.
So pleased you made it safely there, one of my fav's places, i must visit, would rather go there than any hot country, been to Vancouver BC in 99 for a month, loved it, thanks for keeping us updated, hope you find that bear spray, man, that was expensive, 50 bucks. take care.
I miss Alaska.. I used to work on the fishing/crabbing boats and would go every 3 months. The transport ride from Seattle to Sitka on the water was the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen.. / Getting old is stupid.

GREAT scenery out there! The best anywhere. Way down here in MA, we hit 30° for the high today. Started the morning out at 24°! I've about had enough of this crap, lol - bring on summer! :D Anyway, you're still in our prayers regarding your search.
