- Visit Onshape.pro/PlasmaChannel , and start building a table of your own! In my quest for the table of the future, I designed and build a Tron-inspired dining room table, filled with interactive neon. You can control the plasma with a knob, or, your bare hands. It was a journey that pushed me to my limits, and lead to the most unique thing i've ever built. Thank you to Mehdi @ElectroBOOM for his assistance, and to Onshape for teaching me how to 3D model!

RUclips is being glitchy! This video is shot in 4K, make sure your settings are set to that. Otherwise, It seems to play in 480p...
Beautiful work man! If I can make one suggestion. You might want to stick a cheap 3s BMS board on the LiPo so that you don't accidentally over discharge and destroy it. It would also add a layer of protection should something go wrong, like the FET failing short circuit. Things could get really spicy really fast with a beefy LiPo like that!
Damn.
Also I appreciate all the effort and time you put into this project!
Looks like a table that a millionaire would have 😅
Yes, we absolutely want to see the neon shop in action.
Hi plasma channel will this thing work
ruclips.net/video/BbGqR8J8XfU/видео.html
RUclips keeps saying videos are playing in 1080 for me but they're actually at 240 or a little higher. Kind of annoying bug. Great job on the table! It looks incredible and I loved the science lesson.
Yo man! I'm happy it came together so nicely! You're a real electrical artist now!
She works like a charm, and nothing gets hot. My neighbor is finally coming over now ;P
@@PlasmaChannel when is part 2 of star in the jar.
🤗🤩
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Yoo
9:43 YES! I'd really like to see A video about how they make those signs :D
Likewise, yes please!
Ask and you shall receiveth!
Definitely wanna see that video
@@PlasmaChannel Great video, I'd like to see that too! How is your fusor doing, and will there be an update? I look forward to seeing what you do!
Yes please!
He's Back Everyone!
Course he is you floof xD
Yes, we want a video of the variable HV transformer!
The table is super cool! I wonder if you hold a small neon lamp in your hand put it close to the tables neon tube, will the small neon lamp light up?
Actually, I meant to put that in the video! ARG! Yes, it send out wireless power. I will do a followup video
What would happen if you put your phone on the table? Would it damage anything inside of your phone?
You could make some coasters with a coil and different colored neon lights. Do a pour with everything inside and everyone can find their drink by color!
I wonder if it would charge the the battery in your cell phone if you sat it there like a wireless charger for a phone
The jokes and production quality were just golden, prolly the one of the best vids you’ve made Jay. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into creating this video because it really paid off.
That means so much. Thank you for taking the time to drop this comment. Glad you appreciated the quality of content!
Everything about this video is mesmerising..the narrative, the sound effects, the expression and the soothing voice over...nice one man !..and thank to Mehdi electroboom for doing his thing as usual for the success of this project ❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks a ton for watching.
I'm speechless Jay , your crafts are good
Thanks!
i Really appreciate your tenacity to getting over the hurdles Jay. It can literally sink your heart when things don't go well but you see it with the right attitude and just accept that something needs to be learned. A good lesson for young players!
This is just such a beautiful video. I've always loved your passion for plasma but seeing you overcome all of these hurdles to realise your vision is so inspirational. Super proud of you!
Wow Jay that's off the scale , 120% effort all the time no such thing as can't in your determination.
The Tron number one table.
Time for shop vac for power tool dust.
This has to be one of the best examples of creative, perseverant engineuity I've ever seen.
Thanks man. I appreciate that. I don’t like giving up.
Very nice! I can resonate with your resin struggles man, so glad to see you fought through to the finish though!
I appreciate it. Yeah and even after all the reading and learning.....the pour still wasn't perfect. You can see the different layers of resin, if you look close enough. That's...not supposed to be a thing.
you mean "resinate" right? I'll show myself out
I like this idea. Make useful objects that you can own, all while producing juicy content for us all. You're a legend!
Haha, that legit is why this video took so long to come out. I was actively BUILDING my own dining room table, and adding a Plasma Channel flair.
one can't understand the feeling and love a person can have with a thing they made on their own, only if you do it yourself you'll get it, and sure sometimes it can end up being more expensive than just buying but as someone who also made a few things i can assure you that you won't love it as much as you'll love your DIYs
That’s the truth right there! It’s why I’ve always built things as opposed to buy them. Because when you put a lot of love and effort into something, you tend to learn a lot in the process in the end you end up smarter and more knowledgeable than somebody who would’ve just bought the product.
For the sake of your apartment (and lungs!) I'd recommend investing in a cheap shop vac (like Ryobi or whatever) that you can hook up to the dust port on your tools. Those little dustbag attachments are basically useless - any vac will be a vast improvement, even more so if you add a DIY cyclone separator (another good 3D printing project).
Finally! I was wondering when this was coming out! The table turned out great and good job on that HV power supply.
Yo Tate! Thanks for dropping by. The table looks so sick in person...I just couldn't get any good camera angles to REALLY show it off. So, when we making that mega-sized toroid collab?
@@PlasmaChannel Yeah I'd love to see it in person one day! Let's plan for the big boy later this year when I know more about driving the toroid. I'm hoping I'll develop a way to use a cheaper gas to make a toroid with a more developed driver so the project doesn't cost us thousands haha.
Awesome job
I loved every second of the video and admired your commitment and hard work.
I love your content! You really go above and beyond to exactly achieve what you were dreaming of. All your projects are something special, never generic or boring. Very inspiring!
You sanded it... in your living room?!?!
It was really informative to watch you go from inspiration, to (sometimes failed) invention, and back again.
Finally! You have uploaded a new video. I thought you won't post any videos anymore. But after such an awesome surprise, you poured me a sufficient amount of electricity in my heart so that my heart beats satisfactory. 🤩🤩🤩
I was actually working almost every day (7 days a week) since my last video. I never took a real break!
I know where to get a table when I need one 🙂
Thank you Jay, and happy 2023!
PS. You SHOULD really wear a mask when working with epoxy. It's in the same level as your ONE hand rule
I've watched several table makers who do things like this on a regular and have been wanting to try it myself. THANK YOU for showing some of the bits they never do, rest assured your documented failures absolutely will help others (me) avoid the same issues
I love a video on how those neon tubes are made! it's one of those things that you see everywhere, but have no idea how they really work!
Holy crap Jay, this is epic!!!!
By far the best river table I've ever seen!!!
Well worth the wait!
Ahaha, I see you there a second time. Thank man. If you were in the Seattle area, i'd invite you to come over and see it.
@@PlasmaChannel yeah, sorry. I realized I'm kinda flooding your comments. (So many good things in it!)
Hopefully good for 'engagement metrics' on RUclips? 🤔
@@PlasmaChannel how is the heat from the neon encased in the resin? Wonder if it the heat will affect the resin or life of the neon tubes?
Also, yes, definitely make a video on the neon sign making process (if you want to of course)
This is amazing, thank you for also including science and another phenomenal video
Hey, it's an honor to make videos for appreciative viewers like yourself. Thanks so much!
When science and art work together...!! LIterally it's real beauty...looks sooo coool...!!
As the years have gone by, i've realized i'm less of a dedicated "science" channel, and more of a scientific art channel.
What a journey but my goodness was it worth it. Such a sick result... Amazing work as always!
Tron gets watched here at least 4 times a year. Men of culture unite
It's an incredible movie.
This project is so cool Jay! Haha I'm a bit jealous. And man the back side of your table is sooooooooo beautiful. The table should be rotatable :D Thanks for such amazing content!
Yeah when I saw the underside...I really did freeze. I thought, "is it too late for me to use this side??" It was...indeed...to late for me to use the bottom. The wood looked cooler on the top though!
So cool!
Kudos for your perseverance.
This is really impressive.
Thanks for sharing.
Pouring resin in the living room, you're one brave man.
I'm dying at the "so I asked my girlfriend" bit with Siri and her response!!! 🤣😂
I'm so happy to see you being you and having fun and humor in your videos Jay! You've always made great videos and content, yet they have gotten even more so from your first ones! Can't wait to continue following along to see where you go!
Justin, you're a freaking legend! Thanks so much for stopping by, and i'm glad you think my AI girlfriend is funny. It WOULD be funny, if it wasn't true........... Im honored to be making videos for you. Thanks for supporting me.
@@PlasmaChannel the honor is all mine
the quality in your craftsmanship is amazing !! good job !!
Glad to see you knew about the blow torch!it's definitely a savior!
Man, it really is!
Extremely impressive project, and a beautiful result.
Mad respect who can not only master what he is best at but leap far beyond what he knew was possible! your projects are always really inspiring but this one by far is your best work yet!
Awesome, thanks!
It is amazing! Congratulations on this project. Practical and entertaining.
The capacitive coupling experimentation was my favorite part. Your design process is incredibly well-produced and easy to follow. Not to mention, the idea of several side lengths on one resin block was genius! Just discovered the channel and I'm hooked.
That is nice project and good for the family dinning table, seated around and enjoy eating eating too!
Amazing project, Jay, and that really pushed you to the limit. I am so pleased you got the result you wanted.
there's a difference between knowing what's smart, and being Smart. 👁️ sometimes they don't go together
absolutely beautiful
As a sign artist and master sign electrician who has delt with alot of neon, Your aplication of what makes neon beautiful and unique as opposed to other more modern light sources is refreshing, outstanding job and gives me some unique ideas for custom signs.
How in the world can you conceive of a project like this let alone build it?? Your genius is unmatched.
Love it. Well done! I've always wanted to build a resin table like that and you just leveled it up.
Dude your stuff is getting better and better.
I remember when you were just playing with subaru coils befor you even made your line of lexan mini projects.
Now your making gorgeous tables with excellently applied physics.
Way to go man, you are killin it!
The TRON joke just got you a brand new subscriber!
I’ve watch a few river table videos and this is probably the most informative one I’ve watched. You did a bunch of things I want to do with my own. (River battle scene!) came for the plasma, stayed for the table.
Just love your channel. I went to school for electrical engineering and your videos always make me wish I had stayed in that field. I couldn't analyze a circuit for anything now, lol, but love watching you bang your head through projects. Great work, as always!
Absolutely beautiful table. Well worth the wait. Stay classy.
Love this project man! Absolutely epic; and thrilled for you to see your out-there idea get realized - you must feel much WIN!!
absolutely spectacular
Beautiful build. Absolutely amazing. Awesome videos. Can't wait to see what's next.
Man, first off: I got giddy when you said you were in Kirkland. I graduated from Juanita HS! Secondly, you’re doing everything I wish I had time for. I’m loving all your videos. The thruster is just about the coolest project I’ve seen on RUclips. I wish you much success!
This is bonkers. Absolutely amazing
The most beatifull table I have ever seen.
This might be the most satisfying DIY project I've seen. Congrats on the effort and success!
this has insane application in tracking motion
Right?!
Beautiful table, great project!
Fantastic stuff my friend! Thanks for being productive.
I LOVE IT!!! Coolest table ever and so special for being 100% your work!
You must be really proud, we need longer versions of this build and the neon signs haha
That's absolutely beautiful.
I love that Mehdi from Electroboom helped AND nothing blew up.
Of all your many talents, adding CAD design has inspired me the most! Keep up the GREAT work!
Thanks a ton! I’m really loving 3D printing. I get it now. It get it. It’s cool haha.
Best river table ever… You took it to the next level maybe two levels.
Very awesome. "Domesticated Plasma". Love it!
Now that's a truly beautiful table!
I've got no words just Amazing as always👍🏻
I’m looking to build an epoxy river table as well, in Black. This is incredible, never seen anything like it! Genius!
This is such a cool design! All the dead mosfets and other components in the resin was a great touch, too!
Lol, nice work sanding the table in the living room. It's an awesome table.
Dude… Your plants are to say the least #GoalsAndYourLighting is on point AF!!! I love your channel/contact, please keep up the amazing Hardwork hustle/grind!
What I admire the most is the fact that you used real neon tube.
Not tacky, overrated, boring LED...
Anyone can slap some LED's together. They've become so mainstream that the traditional incandescent lamp is more visually pleasing.
But good work on this effort. It's amazing and really looks good. A work of art.
Thanks Dan. LEDs can be very cool. However, nothing measures up to the 4th state of matter!
Super workmanship and great knowledge of ac electrical system
That looks amazing!!! Just Great!
This is the greatest table i have ever seen . I am in love good job
That was an incredible project. Pleased that you persisted. Absolutely beautiful finished product that's priceless. I would get it insured for a considerable amount. Not kidding
That's incredible! You're a genius 👏 🙌 ✨️...
Awww, that beautiful wood table!
I was hoping to see a plama globe made into a table, now that would look cool.
Challenge accepted.
let's be honest its more like a dream, two hands, knowledge of plasma/circuitry, and a half a million sub RUclips budget. But yea you're right, if you have all those things then this can absolutely be done.
Half million sub RUclips budget is a lot smaller than you think haha. I may or may not have gone into debt for this video.
Great video, beautiful project! I love it when the sponsor is so organic to the video itself. Thanks for including shoutouts to the local businesses as well! As a fellow Washingtonian, that will be great if I ever need them.
Great video, I love the explanation you gave for capacitive coupling! 🤜⚡🤛
Great amalgamation of science, art, and function
That table is amazing. Please do make a video about that driver circuit! Would love to hear what you and Mehdi concocted.
Man your projects are Insanely Cool. Your Channel is inspiring !
Doing this in an apartment is prime madlad energy.
This was truly amazing! I admire your relentless pursuit of perfection! Great channel, great content!
Thanks Ben! Glad you appreciate my style of content. Every video I do, I do it the best I can. Mostly because my videos represent me. They are all very personal to me.
omg, that's just a beautiful work of art, best part, it's furniture... and your keysight edux 1002a scope? my oh my
a several years ago, i saw a video that had more or less the same concept of interaction with the table but using leds and optical sensors....
it is always good to watch smart people doing amazing things on this site ....=D
good job...
Waw, great job, beautiful work ❤❤
What a genius you are mate absolutely love it ♥️
Oh wow! This turned out niiiiiice 😍
Wow! Resin caster up in Everett that just found your channel. Absolutely Amazing!!!! I look forward to seeing your other content!
Yes! Please do a video on this power supply!
Holy Moly! I was WAITING LIKE CRAZY for you to drop this video since your Instagram post! Absolutely epic build, and in planning to make this for myself in the future, tho in a circular form 😉
Man... I am so Glad you didn't hurt your toe or hands while Flipping that hefty table, the First time when it fell I froze for a minute
Definitely a video on the supply, I'm just about to build one actually so I would love to see your circuit and compare it to a few others I have in mind
That is sooooo totally AWSOME 👍 👍
The best part of this table i like is the blown up MOSFETs sandwiched between epoxy layers
They are banished into the plasma world for all eternity.
