@@brandonlyon730 Yet they have mortar fire, I know. But it makes sense, given what the Avatar is and the abundant existence of real spirits in this world. That technological advancement is greatly influenced by bending as a whole is to be expected.
I believe amon also uses his blood bending to "feel" what his opponent is doing like that anima thing where they see the leg tens up for a sec before the kick and know what's coming. that's why he can fight and doge so well, probably also makes subtle adjustments to the punches and kicks as they are thrown as well.
he probably shed a tear before his death because he sensed his brothers hand movement over the engine and knew what was going to happen and he let it happen.
The saddest part about this ending is how it establishes that Noata'ak can sense people through their blood. And then 2-3 frames before their death, you see him shed a tear. You realize: Noata'ak knew what Tarlok was doing, cause he could sense him. But they both knew they had gone too far, and would never get their old life back like they wanted. When she loses her bending and is not able to get it back she goes to the cliff to off her self (The tear falling over the edge is symbolism) and she chooses the world over her own well-being. The world needs an avatar, not a new airbender (who can't procreate and make more airbenders bc she is from the watertribe) and by killing herself a new avatar would be born who would be able to bend all four elements. By deciding this she shoves the ego from the foreground and puts the greater good in front opening herself up to spirituality and enabling Aang to contact her truly instead of flashbacks. Endgame" is a reference to chess. The Endgame in chess is the final few moves when each side has only a few pieces remaining. This concept is demonstrated when only Korra and Mako are left to oppose Amon. This episode is one of the few that had special press art released for it. This is the first episode in The Legend of Korra whose title is only one word, the rest being "Peacekeepers", "Rebirth", "Reunion", and "Remembrances". The first series contains only two episodes like this: "Imprisoned", and "Jet". This is also one of two episodes, the other being "Out of the Past", that contain "Aang's Theme" from the original series. It is heard as Korra enters the Avatar State. This is the first time Tenzin refers to Korra as "Avatar Korra". Significant changes to the original script included removing the scene in which Tenzin and his children find Pema and Lin as well as shortening Iroh's attacks on the biplanes. More so, prior to confirmation of Book Two: Spirits, Iroh was intended to be present at the Southern Water Tribe compound, where Asami would announce her intention to leave with him and join the United Forces. A clip from the original storyboard of General Iroh's fight with the Equalist aircraft was uploaded to RUclips by Korra storyboard artist Ian Graham.

A dark interpretation of the ending of Korra at the cliff is that she was contemplating suicide in order to reset the Avatar cycle to the Earth Kingdom. She thought she failed as an Avatar and that she could no longer bend the elements. What good is an Avatar that can’t bend?
Korra uses airbending techniques for the first time after she started her training in "A Leaf in the Wind". When Korra bent all four elements while in the Avatar State, she summoned the elements in reverse order of the Avatar Cycle: air, fire, earth, and water, the same order Aang bent the elements during the battle at Wulong Forest when he entered the Avatar State. Bumi is shown for the first time after being mentioned in "Welcome to Republic City" and "Skeletons in the Closet". The title of this episode refers to Tenzin's statement in "Turning the Tides": "Amon is entering his endgame."
When tarloc and amon died I cried so hard cause they both didnt want to be like their father but they did in the end and they knew there was no way they could live without someone hunting them down or something. But I'm ready for yall to see s2 it's so good
Here goes a little explanation to how Amon take bending away. First, he not take bending away, he just "lock" the Chi with Blood bending and chi blocking pressuring on the head. Let's go to a little more simple explanation. Chi is like a river in their body, clean and healthy. Aang and Korra, fill the river giving bending again or dry the river taking bending away. Amon throws garbage in the river, until it is inaccessible. A blood bender can give bending back if another blood bender taked away, but a blood bender can't taked back if the AVATAR taked away. Sorry for my English! I hope it was clean Brazil loves all of you

Definitely a dark ending...but it makes sense. Even while running away from it, both Tarlok and Noatok ended up doing exactly what their father wanted of them. Tarrlok saw that the cycle would only repeat itself if they went to another city to start over, just as their father did. Tarrlok put an end to a toxic cycle and a sad story in what is arguably the darkest ending for a kids show on nickelodeon.
Can we talk a moment to appreciate how Aang seemed to stop Korra from committing suicide? I just noticed how they really wanted to call attention to Korra peering over a cliff right before Aang showed up.
@@Shea_J watch the scene again not this edit. She leaves after finding out she can only air bend, goes to the cliff looking off the edge, then the tears fall off the cliff (symbolism for herself). If Aang didn't she show up it is implied she was going to jump as she was at her 'lowest point'.

17:18 that is the biggest BIGGEST difference between ATLA and Korra. One is plot driven, they gotta stop the fire lord by summers end, the other is character driven, with the focus being on Korras growth as an Avatar
The brothers story always gets me emotional. As someone who is an older brother with only a younger brother and grew up in a "stressful" household. I knew how Amon (a.k.a Noatok) felt when wanting to protect his brother from his father, because his brother was emotional and couldn't fend for himself. All the while having so much expectations on him and becoming more jaded, I've... been there. So every time i see their story, i tear up a bit for how it unfolded. Such a bittersweet story.

I always thought that Amon would take away people's bending by causing a ministroke in people's brains. But our brains have a way of "rewiring" around damaged parts, so Amon took away Korra's 3 bending styles, but he brain rewired and activated her "airbending"
Bloodbending. Suicide-murder. Korra contemplating suicide. Iroh II blowing people up out of the air. To quote a certain person, "this is not a kid's show".
Well Amon can probably control his own blood too so I'm pretty sure he was countering Tarlok's blood bending with his own blood bending. Korra was the only one we witnessed that muscled her way out of Amons blood bending.
Once they’re done with this series I need someone to refit all their episodes but only make one change for each episode. Swapping the intro so instead of them saying “Korra, the legend” it says “The legend Korra”

@@pwojo9776 that could have been the intention but it just wasnt done well. All i see is her getting her power back on a silver platter. Its nickolodeons fault for giving the creators barricades of shit to what ultimately could have been a great successor to ATLA. Unfortunately i cant help but see it as subpar.
I think she was able to bend air at this point because it's the element of freedom - and in a way, Amon "freed" her from her other elements which she mastered through harsh supervision as she never really saw the world up until going with Tenzin for the first time
There’s a solid theory that Korra organically unlocked her chakras one by one throughout the season, culminating in her letting go on that precipice at the end. That’s what unlocked her Avatar state and spiritual connection.
I can understand that, but I don't think it would have been entertaining to see her unlock it for herself, either. It's cool to see Aang and Korra learn bending from their companions / masters, but the Avatar state is a different thing. I like it, but I think it's always going to feel a bit cheap because it's an on / off power boost, and it seems to be mastered through spiritual insight (like we see with Guru Pathik in AtLA), rather than through training. There's not really any sense of 'progress' or 'growth,' they just have it or they don't. I just can't see that being entertaining to watch, so I figure it's just as well that they give it to her here. The only thing I dislike is how easily she uses it in the next book, but even this I understand because the writers intended to nerf the Avatar State anyways.
I'm excited for y'all to get to the other seasons. It's hard to compare ATLA with this, they are so different. The first time I watched the series, I only liked it. The second time around, I grew such a fond appreciation for the characters, animation, music, and story. It's not all the way tight like ATLA, but it has some amazing moments. @@yukijames1321 Yeah, it would have been so much better if Korra INTENTIONALLY called Aang for help using her spirituality.
Yeah, the issue might've been that they've gotten the go to extend but whole Book 1 plot was already done.
It's alright though, but would've been better if there was more agency from Korra that was obvious. She didn't even meditate to connect with the spirit world.
@Mr Simple Even if there was another season you coulda ended it without getting her bending back
They have big daddy airships, just like the Fire Nation when they tried to burn the Earth Kingdom
the technological advancements in Avatar TLA and Korra are amazing
Not too unlike our world though. We went from flight to the moon in half a century.
It took them 70 years to go from zeppelins to ww1 era planes. Aside from the mechs technological growth has been at a crawl from ATLA to LOK.
All of this and yet no guns or bullets.

I can believe that. Thats how he found korra hiding.
he probably shed a tear before his death because he sensed his brothers hand movement over the engine and knew what was going to happen and he let it happen.
Yooo that’s smart
The saddest part about this ending is how it establishes that Noata'ak can sense people through their blood. And then 2-3 frames before their death, you see him shed a tear.
You realize: Noata'ak knew what Tarlok was doing, cause he could sense him. But they both knew they had gone too far, and would never get their old life back like they wanted. So they both accepted that end.
It's heartbreaking.
“When we hit our lowest point we’re open to the greatest change” -Aang
When we hit our lowest point
Yep we're open to it. And that takes time. It starts the greatest change. It's not pooof everything is fine right now because I just hit my lowest point.
@@Sandkasten36 Well before this all happened her ego was really in the way. Spiritual englightenment often comes when the Ego is no longer in the front. (Also not everything is fine again through the series you can see that her being defeated really takes it's toll through ptsd, depression and even anxiety so even though everything may seem "fine" it isn't in her psyche.)
@@celinefye384 so she basically opened all her chakras because she's now in full control of her avatar state? Doesn't take long to proof that at least 4 chakras are completely closed at that stage. I can go into detail if you want. And if Aang does something special so Korra gets a shortcut - sry that's bad storytelling..
@@celinefye384 and that's what I think they should've gone for. She is at her lowest point and open for change. That's why opening her chakras is her number 1 priority from now on. But that would be good story telling hmm not appropriate for book 2 LoK🤔

Sad fact, Korra was contemplating jumping off the cliff. That’s the lowest point Aang was referring too.
I know this has always been talked about in the community, but has this been officially confirmed by Bryke? If not it is an interesting theoretical perspective
Also those footsteps left in the snow leading to the edge of the cliff where smaller. Signifying Aang was about to connect directly with Korra.

@@The-Beyonder @IamFromBeyond now that you mention it.. I could have sworn it was but actually going back and digging into it I can't find any mention of it being confirmed by him.

I was thinking the same rewatching it this time around!
She was actually thinking of jumping off, the writers confirmed it a few years ago
@@lukastace3154where did they confirm this? Ive been looking it up and haven’t seen anything on it yet
What started as a miniseries became a full length series.

I hope it was clean
Brazil loves all of you
That's honestly stupid and lazy of an explanation, they should've just made him actually be an energy bender and a non bender
@@SupportGamin2024 how can he energybend if he is a nonbender?
So the theory is that the reason amon she'd a tear was because he could sense tarlock with bloodbending

The sad part is that amon knew what his brother was about to do cause he can feel the blood moving. That's why he cried
I always thought that Amon would take away people's bending by causing a ministroke in people's brains. But our brains have a way of "rewiring" around damaged parts, so Amon took away Korra's 3 bending styles, but he brain rewired and activated her "airbending"

Fun Fact: Korra is the only known person other than Amon to PHYSICALLY resist bloodbending.
That was always kinda weird to me
Well Amon can probably control his own blood too so I'm pretty sure he was countering Tarlok's blood bending with his own blood bending. Korra was the only one we witnessed that muscled her way out of Amons blood bending.
What about Mako and katara

I think she was able to bend air at this point because it's the element of freedom - and in a way, Amon "freed" her from her other elements which she mastered through harsh supervision as she never really saw the world up until going with Tenzin for the first time

There’s a solid theory that Korra organically unlocked her chakras one by one throughout the season, culminating in her letting go on that precipice at the end. That’s what unlocked her Avatar state and spiritual connection.
Still don't like the fact that she's just given the avatar state by aang rather than unlocking it herself.
Get over it. This is not AtLA. If you want that journey, it's on Netflix.
It was supposed to be a 12 ep mini series they didn’t think Nick would let them do more.
Korra be looking off the cliff ready to bring in a new Avatar with all the elements for the world
I'm excited for y'all to get to the other seasons. It's hard to compare ATLA with this, they are so different. The first time I watched the series, I only liked it. to everyone who judges Korra, keep in mind that the creators of the show were told season one that the show would only have one season, and had to structure season one as if it would only be a one-season show. the same was said for season two, they were told that would be their last season. so before you judge know the creators were constantly put into tight positions and for what they had to work with I think the show still came out pretty good.
