Hi Mark. I am new to all of this and a 70-year-old woman trying her hand at this. So far, I am very proud of myself because it is turning out beautifully!!! The only question I have is, when you make the pineapple knot you do say about the diameter, but not the length. Can you help with that please. Also, thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. You spoke clearly and in no hurry. You are a wonderful teacher and taught well enough that even a 70-year-old woman could follow.

Wow, so here's the thing I saw this vid several years past and thought, "man I would love to make this" , but at the time didn't really have the time. Well my son's birthday is this coming Wednesday and I wanted to give him something I made and unique. I'm glad to say just finishing up the last bits so it should be ready for his birthday. Thank you for making this video. I must say it was challenging, fun and well worth it. I hope my son likes it. Again thank you

Thank you! This was a long video but very informative and interesting! It wasn't too fast or too slow! This one may be past my patience level but I hope to try this one day! I bought a cheap one with my club colors and after 2 years it's falling apart. I'm sure yours won't for a loooong time! Thank you!!

      Hi!
This design is based on prior work by whip makers on Facebook. I made the specific design myself.

I like it, question? Could I use 3 different color cords on the pineapple knot? I want to make a get back whip out of 3 colors red, yellow.and green.

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  2 года назад

Sure, it can be done! You would tie a shorter base knot to compensate for the extra length you get from a third pass. There are projects on my channel showing the 3 color pineapple knot.

Hootyhoo; MAN how do you remember all of that? Or do you have a recipe book so to speak?
I'm quiet impressed w/This tutorial as I've taken a bit of an interest in whip making...
I'd like to know if this whip actually cracks or not??? I believe the intrigue lies in the ability to crack a whip; so if this thing don't crack it's not of much interest to me; Although I did learn alot about some knots that I could incorporate into the other whip designs that I make... Thx.4-that.
Oh & man you got some patience!

      Hey Scott!
Indeed many of the techniques used here will be useful in whip making as well. This whip is not meant to be cracked though. It is used to display club colors, as a decorative piece and sometimes as a defense item.
When it comes to tying these knots, once you know the pattern of how they are built, you can see what comes next. So I don't really know the sequence or have it written down. I look at the knot and recognize what comes next.

@@Paracordguild : Hootyhoo, it's Scott again; & maybe it's just me but to be able to remember all of that is very impressive. I get lost doing the bowline, I've almost got it down after 40 years 😂
JK But seriously some of these knots are (4 me) very hard to remember let alone they're names.
I'll catch ya on the next video. 🙈🙉🙊👍👌✌👊

Believe me, I was quite intimidated by turk's head knots before slowly getting into them. Took me years to get really comfortable with the knots. It is a great tool to have for decorative braiding, but takes time to master to an efficient degree. But you know...anything worthwhile takes effort and time- that is why it is special (not everyone can do it).

Detailed vid, but i still dont know what it is?
A get back whip for a motorcycle? What or how is it used, and when?
Sounds kinda dangerous to use a whip when on a motorcycle, or possibly violent, are there any legal restrictions for these being used, i know putting billiard balls into ropes is not legal in most countries, is this the same as those?

looks good but two suggestions from an old Bos'n mate First anything that will be exposed to the elements never use electrical tape. It has been my experience that it attracts and retains moisture causing the mildew and rot. Everything I have ever had to replace on the ship all were rotted on the inside. Use either something like gaffers tape or sports grip tape. That little secret was taught to me by the Bos'n after he ripped my ass. Second if you want cleaner melted end (without the black melted look) use something that puts out more heat then a zippo. Use a butane torch. once you get used to it you can melt the ends and have them stay the color your started with. The red will be red and the core will be a white dot.

I have been trying to do the decorative knot not days now. you are going trying to teach people who dont know what they are doing so you have to go slow. In my opinion you are going way to fast and dont explain things at all. You dont explain how you keep the rope from sliding which is the problem that i am having. to me if you fail at one part of it you fail at all of it so your whole video is a failure cause you are not teaching people the way they need to be taught
