Totally agree with your assessment. I’m not a huge fan of the EGO midsoles from Altra. They are okay for walking, but for running, there’s other shoes I would rather run in at that pricing.
The EGO in the Escalante is just perfect (24 mm). I think this foam simply cannot be too thick, as it loses it bounce and gets stiff. That's why the shift from EGO to EGO Max in the Paradigm 6 was a great move.
That’s good to know. Yeah from what I guess this shoe seemed to be more of a redundancy in their rotation offerings. So that makes me think options like the Torin, paradigm, and escalate (to name a few) were just better shoes to pick from.
I do not believe Altra makes a specialized kind of Tennis shoe at this juncture. As some who has never worn or felt the dynamic difference of a tennis shoe versus and running or street shoe I cannot make and educated recommend for you my friend regarding the needs of a tennis player. Will these work on the court for the amateur like myself? Absolutely. I hope that helps!
