Thank you for this video. I just got a low whistle today. Beautiful sound and I am playing around with different types of vibrato. I have a brass background so all types of vibrato seem to come pretty easy for me. Or at least I have some experience with breath control and that sort of thing. Started singing last year and I can see how singing can help as well. The tin whistles and low whistles are fascinating instruments. There's a beautiful emotive capacity with them that is fascinating. Thanks for your help!

You're very welcome! Is throat vibrato used with brass? It's interesting to see the traditional Bolivian Quena players use it, and we hear it with many folk singers both Irish and American. I hear it all the time on American radio "Kars for Kids" commercials, a very controlled throat vibrato that seems on/off, he sings the quicker notes nonvibrato and switches on the vibrato for long notes.

Thank you very much!! I unfortunately don't succeed to make diaphragm and throat vibrato... I suppose it'll come with time... Thank for this excellent video!

Thanks! About diaphragm vibrato, since that's the standard vibrato on the modern Boehm flute there are many RUclips videos teaching it. About throat vibrato, I haven't searched for videos teaching it. It's the standard vibrato for the Kena/Quena in Peru and Bolivia so there might be Quena tutorials that demonstrate it. Also many folk singers use a very rapid shallow throat vibrato, but I don't know what their term for it is, or if there are singing videos teaching it.

Thanks for a very informative video! Been playing a low whistle two years now, and didnt see anyone explaining vibrato tecniques this way, Thanks. You are playing a Goldie? I have a chieftain v5, do you have experience or an opinion about that?

You're welcome! Yes a Goldie Low D "Medium Blower". I've seen the Chieftain V5 but I've not played one. Around ten years ago I tried every different make of Low D I could get my hands on, and I ended up liking the Goldie best. Now I have Goldies in Low C, Low D, and Low F and I would like to get more.
