- Silver Dollar City in Branson is so much more than just rides and shows. What you may not know about this amazing theme park is the incredible shops and crafts that they sell. There are several stores that I have to stop in every time I visit. These are my favorites that you shouldn't miss.
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...

We were there last month and my two little girls loved watching the glass blowers, but you had one super nervous dad walking though the glass store. 😧
What a wonderful video. Never been there but it looks like a cross between Disney's Frontier Land, a Renaissance Faire, and Cracker Barrel - some of my favorite places. I would love to go just for these shops.
You can get AMAZING apple turnovers at the apple butter shop! Try to get it as early in the day as possible because they sell out fast.

As usual, you've brought us really great video and especially info on the offerings of the park...like you, often our best experiences come when we get away from the rides and find the places that make the park special.
I head to Springfield on a regular basis, yet I have never been to Branson, or Silver Dollar City. I need to make sure I head out there next time.
It's about a 40 minute drive and one well worth making!

I am a born Missourian. You mis-spoke about the Cardinal being our state bird. The Bluebird is our state bird. The St Louis Cardinals is our baseball team lol Very nice video though.

There's Theme Park in Buena Park, California that sells pop guns, also has a blacksmith, glass blower , and wood craving with chainsaws
That would be Knott's Berry Farm. You can see some of that in the video I did when we visited back in March. :-)

I will definitely have to get back to SDC at some point. I went in 2020, so there where many sites and attractions closed. I still had an amazing time and SDC is one of my favorite parks.
We usually avoid the glass blower shop and have to be really careful in the pottery shop. We have three boys… Maybe if we make it out there without the kids.
I want to know how much the knives are. The railroad spike knife would be cool.
I like to watch them work the pottery wheel.
Toy guns that go bang are so cool I had them as a kid I still have my long rifle from disney that I got in the 1980s real wood and steel barrel it’s made to last you can’t get them anymore In disney it’s a shame
At least you guys see your state bird. I dont think I've ever seen an Eastern Goldfinch in my entire life. Wonder if SDC has a "stuff for the dog" shop. Sadly, the general store will never be able to do my birthday.... March 18
If you make it during the first 2 weeks of the season, then your birthday is covered. They typically open around your birthday.
I haven seen dog things in the stores as well, Some seasons they have had a pet toy shop. But you'll also usually see one during the craft festival at the end of Sept and through October.
This is basically a craft show on steroids, which my family and I enjoy walking around. Often the stuff is too expensive so we don't buy anything but it is interesting to see other people's creativity at work.
Actually the "craft show on steroids" happens in the fall curing their Craft festival, when there are booths all over the park featuring all sorts of artists and craftsmen in addition to their regular offerings.
Hahaha fair enough but as it is, it's still pretty large compared to what I have seen here in my neck of Canada.

Do they have any penny presses? Where you put in a penny and press it.
I used to be a knife maker and unfortunately railroad spike knives are kinda gimmicks. The steel isn't quality enough to hold a sharp edge for any length of time so I'd just save your money. Rest of the knives should be good to go!
Depending on which type of spike it's made from (there are a few different ones)
But I'm not wanting it as a useful knife. There's a reason I want that specific version of a "gimmick" :-)

Does anyone know if there's a poster shop in silver dollar city or close to there?
Not a poster shop per se, but there are sign making shops at SDC. not sure if that's what you want. There may be a store in Branson that will print off posters as well.

I would love to! We'll see how things work out with budget and space after we get moved this summer.
