I probably wouldn't be here today were it's not form the song "Hell is For Children". I discovered it at the age of 7 during a time in my life where I was being molested at the hands of a neighbor. Looking through my mom's music collection at the time, she had Pat Benatar's "Best Shots" on CD, and when it got to this song, which i believe was track #6 on the disc, I couldn't quit playing this song over and over, I ended up curling into a ball and crying because I felt like someone understood what I was dealing with. I got lucky enough to see Pat Benatar in concert when I was 26, and when they played this song, instantly my fists were in the air, I was screaming every word, and couldn't quit crying! My friends who took me to that concert also somehow got backstage passes, so I got to meet Pat and Neil Giraldo after the show. Again I burst into tears as I told them what I had gone through and what the song meant to me. These days, it's one of those songs that I play when I'm feeling down just to remind myself to keep going. It was and still is a survival anthem for me. New subsciber here!
this was my child hood, it made me a very angry teenagers who hit first, but than fully ive not been in any trouble for over 20 years, id never hit a child, ever, or anybody else anymore.
I especially like the end of this song when Pat starts scream singing and Neil Giraldo's guitar playing as if anger for the abuse children to go through.
You should react to Pat's song *Wuthering Heights*. You will hear her operatic vocals. the song comes from the novel Wuthering Heights written by Emily Brontë in 1847 when she was 29 years old. Emily died a year later so she never saw how well the book was received. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest novels ever written. *We Live for Love* is another of her songs that shows her operatic vocals.
This song is meant to be disturbing, and to put words to something that was hidden in the closet for many families. It also breaks the lock on the box where many of us locked our experiences away.
Pat did not like dancing at all. Because 80's videos had a lot more dancing in them, she was forced to dance in this video. So they made easy choreography for her. She never danced in a video again.
Amazing how powerful the songs were back then. How much meaning they had and the stories they told.
She's 🤩 🙀 😂😂❤❤❤❤
I relate to the song. I grew up like this.
Sorry to hear that April 🙏🏽 I pray it gets better for you ❤️

Neil is the lead guitarist and Pat Benatar's husband.
The amazing thing about this song is it makes sense for a lot of people and makes other people think.
One review I saw was spot on…it said you could hear the anger in her voice and the anger in her husband’s guitar.
Hell is for hell, Hell is not for children. Thanks for the meaningful background of this powerful song in the 80s
❤️
She puts her heart and soul into her music. Strong lyrics. Sad reality. 😔

Would like your reaction to Sam Cooke, "bring it on Home to Me" early sixties or maybe late 50's.
