Good luck! I’m doing a low level run at all level 3 (didn’t like three of them being lvl 1 and Faris being 3 is why I increased it to all lvl 3), with no rods and no gil toss. Both feel to gimmicky to me. Halfway through world two so far. Sand bears, dual cast magic, and dual wield x-fight getting me by for the most part.. A few specific fights needed different strategies. For Ifirt I used four summoners with only the shiva summon learned. I am sure you will find a way to win without rods, though in some cases the answer might be grinding.
Ill come up with something... I have beaten them before no rods.....and without over leveling... Gives me something to sink my teeth into this new years break
I never thought i would see a bard being the muscle in a Final Fantasy run. Also loved these job challenges. Can't wait to see what ya come up with next.
With the FJF rules, I can verify that EQWhip Berserker is actually pretty good, especially if you bother grinding out the Dragon Whip. It also changes Berserkers Agility to match Beastmasters, though with Thief around that's less useful.
Getting that Tinklebell drop off of Twintania here reminds me of when one of those solo Pokemon challenges gets an encounter with a Shiny. There's just nothing you can say but "aww~".
I'd love to see you do the "Best classes" run, and an ultimate "NG+" playthrough, having max level, all jobs maxed, doing everything the game has to offer, including the super bosses. Because you've earned it.
Interesting run, good idea to mix it up with Bard and not duplicate others who have done this challenge. Turns out whatever you do though, having 4 jobs has you covered. -I agree that Dragoon is the worst, it contributes so little to the team and spears are indeed one of the worst weapons in the game. I did a solo Dragoon run years ago, it's pretty fun for that that at least. -Your overleveling continues, but hey at least you're consistent. -2 for 1 elixirs from gigas chests? More like Scram every time you get one and re-activate the chest for more elixir steals! -Thor Hammer does massive damage to Tree ExDeath in the Pixel Remaster, probably the best choice for the Berserker final fight so you can back row and end the first phase quickly before you eat too many white holes. Bard holds a main gauche in phase 1, good to see you utilized the harp at the very end for that big damage against the Grand Cross dragon. -People give Bard a lot of points for being a great superboss killer of Omega and Shinryu at the end of the game, and before the PR it was easier to bard buff to max stats in the final fight...you still can if playing unrestricted, but it's rare to be able to pull it off in a 4job challenge without a lot of effort and waiting around in the PR. Congrats on another entertaining challenge done!
just a silly idea but i kinda thought of a run using only the jobs that need wiki knowledge to be at their full potential thief - stealable items and such blue mage - skills and where to get em beastmaster - capture and release mechanic chemist - all the mixes doesnt sound as horrible since beastmaster and blue mage sort of synergize to get all the skills but it just felt like a fun themed idea ^-^
I would even think thief and chemist would help each other. Thief generally gets items, and chemist wants to mix items to make even more potent effects.
This, along with the entire single job challenge series, made me buy the game. I loved every single video because your storytelling and writing is great. Time to dive into the older content!
I guess the reasoning on the NED fight checks out, but still kinda surprised that Bards being able to boost everyone's stats to absurd levels didn't keep it from being declared The Worst (TM).
oooohh hehehe I saw this one already in another youtuber's channel! But instead of dragoon and bard, they were using dancer and geomancer! always fun to watch people suffering in final fantasy 5
The Dawn Warriors in this used the same four jobs as you: Galuf was a Berserker but they assumed he running Monk so they never handed him an axe or hammer. Kelgar was a Bard, which mostly consisted of howling sad songs, especially when he saw Galuf's hat and was reminded of his father. Xeza was a Dragoon, but he tricked his teammates into thinking he was some sort of mage by arguing a spear is a type of staff instead of a bladed weapon; "You've seen its damage. I just happen to really like the spell of Extremely Temporary Flight." He was also their main healer, using Hi Potions because everyone else had something better to do on their turn. Drogan was the Thief. He was just a completely normal Drogan from any other run's backstory. Berserker Kelgar and Beastmaster Kelgar are two of my favorite mental images from knowing the Dawn Warriors used to use the Crystals as well.
This was a very fun series to watch with all the ways one-job parties can or must go through this game was really cool to see; Personal favorites were Mystic Knight, Blue Mage, White Mage, and Geomancer. Seeing Spellblade domination, the healer getting its limiters removed with the Staff of Light, and the various applications of the !DING DONG was a treat. The prerecordedness of these did get a bit head-tilting at times (see the Bard video's plug section plugging ITSELF), but its understandable and didnt really detract from the fun. Sad to see it go, but happy it got properly rounded up and finished. The constant roasting of the uselessness and degeneracy of the Dragoon gives me life. Funny how it's a consistently mediocre to useless job that has purely coasted on coolness factor alone; straight up having its notoriety be almost entirely undeserved. Thief at least offers utility with steal-exclusive items and an Agility boost, Berserker at least has dummy damage output along with solid equip options and OMG ACTUAL INNATE RESISTANCES, Bard at least offers buffs that have it being claimed to be worse than Geomancer actually be a contemptuous view. Dragooners offer nothing but disappointment; no out-of-battle utility, no in-battle utility beyond the underwhelming !Lance and !Jump AKA "spicier Hide", no numerical buffs of note since Zerkers just does it better, and is all-around a very selfish and unneeded job.
I did Four Job Fiesta for the first time this summer, and my randomly generated jobs were... thief, berserker, bard, and dragoon. I'm feeling real vindicated right now about how hard it was. (And about beating Omega and Shinryu lol)
I'm really glad you made more after the last single job challenge. Watching you complete the series has been a really cool experience. Are you going to do best jobs next?
And now a new subset of content is available whenever you need to fill for content! "Can you beat FFV with X party theme?" Loved the content, thanks for introducing me to this great game!
Its crazy FFV , a game released 32 years ago has possiby the best job system allowing for a massive amount of tactics. How many games since did it so well? The jobs in FF Tactics don't compare in my opion although also fun, FF12 Zodiac Age? Nope. Dragon Quest 3, 6, 7, 9? Nope. Although I personally liked 7 and 9. But still not as good.
I remember doing a playthrough of FF5 using 1 job from each crystal based on which had the lowest or worst agility gains. That would give you Berserker (-9) for Water, Black Mage for Wind (0), Beastmaster for Fire (+1), and Samurai for Earth (+2). Summoner is -1, but it's a Water job, so no go. Freelancer/Mime are also 0, but I didn't see Freelancer as a job, and Mime is also a "Water" job. Blue Mage, White Mage, Knight & Monk are +1, but they are all Wind. Chemist has a +3. Ignoring one per crystal, a playthrough of Bad Agility would be Berserker, Summoner, Black Mage & Freelancer/Mime.
The worst jobs in the game, one from each crystal is a fun way to set it up. I'm enjoying the class rundown as you eliminate each category! I like how the party you've constructed is the "no participation" party. Berserker doesn't do what you want, Thief doesn't do anything, Bard does only one thing at a time, and what the Dragoon does is leave. XD "I'm Karnak's biggest patron!" Truer words were never spoken. :D Berserker getting mastered always comes as a surprise. It is a mystery. Last minute piano panic XD In a game full of nonsense interactions, reflecting a harp is one of the most nonsensical. :D I do love seeing EqAxes carry a party, and the Apollo's Harp get to do some bonkers damage. :D In theory you could have used EqHarps to power up a Gaia Hammer on the Berseker, but in practice I don't think you even needed it. I can only imagine a best jobs party getting fully synergized, to then decide BUSTIN' is faster and go with that instead. :P
13:50 shockingly enough, one kf of the best stat abilities for the Berserker is the Bard, which also has good agility and decent Magic stats (used with a few axes for extra damage) and Spirit.
It would be fun to watch a quick tier list on which jobs have the best and worst synergy. So many people seem to think that Dragoon is bad, but in reality it just has bad synergy with these jobs. Dragoon offers nothing for a Berserker, but in a party full of mages equip lances is useful to give the mages a physical attack and Lancet is a great way to drain HP and MP from an enemy when used by a mage with a high magic stat and a use for the MP.
What’s really funny about your Exdeath fight is it’s much easier to get Reflect Rings before that point with a thief since you can steal them from Reflect Mages in Exdeath’s Castle and you can get two as a common steal from Carbuncle, one from his damage phase and another from his healing phase. So if nothing else you can guarantee one from Carbuncle if you don’t mind the lava walk
It's not something that would have mattered in any of your videos, but there is actually a synergy for monk that makes Kick pretty good until at least the merged world. You see, Kick scales off of the monks attack power. As in, the weapon based stat. Thus any Equip ability given to a monk with even a weak weapon will at least double Kicks damage. Giving a monk the Blood Sword immediately had me Kicking for near 1000, and the Excalipoor brought me past 1500. From the BACK row. I literally found this out on my pixel remaster like, yesterday, so I haven't tested it out much. But like I said it shouldn't matter for your videos, unless you want to make a "mid tier jobs only" run lol
That's a pixel remaster specific change, and one I haven't seen talked about much. Kaiser Knuckles will also boost the attack power of Kick even if equipped with a weapon; I had a Monk kicking for 2500+ damage in World 3.
@FoxyFiremelon-fp1ww Yeah I just tried another save at the 3rd world and gave the Brave Blade to a monk, hit 2500 easily even without the knuckles. Its a kind of interesting dynamic, that the unarmed jobs main ability gets nearly OP (like a discount Gil toss) if you give weapons to it. If there were a way to give kick to another job it would be among the best in the game. ...Hmm, now I'm wondering if some other buffs like from Mix or Sing also disproportionately boost Kick.
I've been along for this whole ride. And I see the best coming. My best party masters knight, ninja, hunter, and mystic knight on two. All mage jobs on the other two, and thief, monk and mimic on everyone.
Honestly love the analysis at the start, and completely agree with all but Bard. Bard's support skills start coming in during World 2 with Speed Song, but the boosts they provide make even the worst jobs good. Berserker has low Agility (Without Artful Dodger) ? Speed Song makes it a Lightning Bruiser. Thief has low damage? Attack Song and Level Song will fix that. Best part is both examples boosts the other party members too just making things easier. It can make Berserker become a solo dps with the other two being potion-bots while preparing, or make Thief's agility also Sing for double the song boosts. Now If I had to choose Fire Crystal, I'd go with Beastmaster. Catch/Release is good...but you need a table. And repeatedly trying to catch the enemies. It's what I refer to as a "One and Done" job in battle, cause once you release a Beastmaster drops in usefulness like a rock. Berserker can't make use of it, and while Equip Whips can be nice, Artful Dodger's agility is better for it. The team also has low magic so Fire Lash isn't useful with Firaga, and Calm is just a worse Romeo's Ballad. I do also see things a bit differently, so while I disagree I will respect the decision and still found this fun to watch along with the job series. It was great watching them all and I might have to watch them again later down the road.
Yeah. It's obvious that Dragoon doesn't offer anything meaningful to the other jobs, in a game where team and skill synergy are very important. Thief can steal good items to other jobs and has transferable Agility boost; Berserker can give Equip Axes and transfer their Strength; while Bard can give Sing to other jobs for some niche applications.
Dragoon has one thing to offer... but all the mage jobs that actually benefit from that one thing were taken off the table because rod smashing. Specifically, Dragoon offers MP self-sustain via Lancet.
berserker is a solid class if you're not doing a single job challenge imo bard is also fine since you have real damage output to buff, honestly i still think geomancer is way worse, !gaia doesnt even pass on its agility and magic stat like equip harps does, and passing on bard's good stats to a berserker allows for really epic rune axe damage.
Before starting, my thoughts are that having 4 jobs and swapping abilities around really does change a lot. Thief is terrible on its own. But a Thief who can equip berserker weapons, and gets Berserker’s strength stat? That’s something different. Similarly, a Berserker using Thief’s Artful Dodger ability to get massive speed buffs can dish out a ton of unga bunga damage. Not a lot to say about Bard, but at least having only ONE Bard means you can benefit from the song buffs and let everyone else do damage.
@@enlongjones2394 I would wager it was more along the lines of having three other dedicated damage dealers, and somebody has to be on item duty because there is no other method of healing, so they become the de facto White mage. So their ability to deal damage is a non-factor, and instead your goal is survival. So they just get the agility of a thief, as much def as you can get, and that's their job.
There were various points I had it on. At the end game I just thought artful dodger for more agility for faster turns was a better use of my abilities. I probably should've chucked the Thors Hammer on the Drg and put him in the back row. Then just have Faris with the apollos harp on the whole time. But I won anyways, so its like, w/e
There are a lot of options for picking a best 4 job combo. Black Mage, Time Mage (or Summoner), Ninja, Samurai are probably the four best jobs if picking one from each crystal but an argument can be made for Chemist if you are fine with the item grind. Personally I'd probably pick Chemist over Samurai but only for survivability. In that case though you could make an argument for Knight over Black Mage for equip shields and Dual wielding Knight Swords late game.
It's not surprising that things become easier when you can use the main mechanic of the game even somewhat. But even with that, Dragoon continues being a wet fart.
Can't wait to see the difference between this and Suprapika's video (which if I recall right, the guy didn't even THINK about rod smashing when he put his team together) of Dancer, Berserker, Geomancer, and Thief. Which that's basically your choices but reversed but I find your arguments for the decisions much better, especially after *watching you try every job*.
I don't know if you still want to do final fantasy 5 content after this, but would you be willing to do a video on how long it takes to aquire every skill for each class on a single person?
A FJF best jobs would actually, ironically, include Bard, rounded out with Chemist, Summoner, and Blue Mage, most likely. With so much Bard slander I guess you've got Ninja or Ranger from Fire crystal. Two mid-tier jobs with two excellent mastery abilities to lift them up. My guess would be Ranger for !Rapid Fire, but having a Summoner to chuck scrolls is also a lot of fun
Ninja is 100% going to be the fire crystal job for sure. Arguments could be made for Black Mage, Knight (duel wielding knight swords thanks to Ninja or equip shields for mages), Time Mage (quicken is disgusting), and Chemist (best healer that doesn't require you to start as four white mages, very versatile). I don't think Blue Mage is going to make the cut without access to control from a Beast Master. Summoner and Samurai are very likely.
I get what they were going for with Dragoon in theory. Heavy Armor, able to dodge enemy AoE skills with luck/timing, Jump being able to hit from the back row for full damage, Lance's drain effect. Its a survivalist who's supposed to be able to help get the party back on their feet using items after big hits... but FFV is a game where its very easy to burst down virtually every boss, which makes Dragoon virtually useless in practice.
Also spears kinda mid in V until holy lance and has no cool job commands or passives to pass on. Having to grind for rare steals outside of holy lance is kinda lame and holy lance itself is just a worse excalibur. The lance command is super not epic.
@@ericcao6281 that is a funny(if frustrating) reversal of reality isn't it? In real life lances and spears dominated the battlefield, but in Final Fantasy, swords are always superior.
@@TotallyCluelessGamer ye, swords were kinda meh in actual history but have the best stats in rpgs. FFIV had a sword with 200 attack but the best spear you can get is only half of that amount.

You've inspired me .... I'm Gonna do it.... All 22 jobs no Rods ,I feel like they are gimmicky uhhh wish me luck?
Good luck with Byblos and Soul Cannon lol
Good luck! I think it's doable, even with red mage, but you'll probably have to come up with some crazy stuff
Yes, who doesn't know the tales of the Bard-barians?
That fearsome group of roading marauding minstrels who tell tales of their epic conquest.
Love the Puffin Forest ref
That's a very ABSERD reference
Sounds like Mount Arreat those Barbs sing the demons to death
They went from Shrimpy Symphonies to POWER Ballads with one simple skill equip
Oh nice, a bonus episode! I wasn't expecting that one. Also, the job system truly is "together we ride".
It also changes Berserkers Agility to match Beastmasters, though with Thief around that's less useful.
i find equip harps on berzerker quite good it gives the agility and magic of bard for rune axe
Eek-whip one to berserker.
Just when you think there can be no more ff5 content this comes out. Good stuff
Getting that Tinklebell drop off of Twintania here reminds me of when one of those solo Pokemon challenges gets an encounter with a Shiny. There's just nothing you can say but "aww~".
Pain.
Dragoon has the drip, but not the hit... Literally.
Congrats on another entertaining challenge done!
just a silly idea but i kinda thought of a run using only the jobs that need wiki knowledge to be at their full potential
thief - stealable items and such
blue mage - skills and where to get em
beastmaster - capture and release mechanic
chemist - all the mixes
doesnt sound as horrible since beastmaster and blue mage sort of synergize to get all the skills but it just felt like a fun themed idea ^-^
Thank you Buster Boys and Members
Man you reaaaly love to beat this game! Love the series! How about doing this with final fantasy tatics?
The worst job will always be Lenna avoiding the poison arrow
Lenna no, this isn't Pokemon; you don't have Poison Heal!
Blessed with another video. Thank Zok
This job challenge series has been really fun, thanks for this man. :)
oooohh hehehe I saw this one already in another youtuber's channel! But instead of dragoon and bard, they were using dancer and geomancer! always fun to watch people suffering in final fantasy 5
The Dawn Warriors in this used the same four jobs as you:
Galuf was a Berserker but they assumed he running Monk so they never handed him an axe or hammer.
Challenge name: Four Job Fiasco
Amazing
I rarely actually laugh out loud but this... this made me do just that. Bravo!
This is a very welcome surprise. I thought the party was over, but this absolute Chad takes us for one more ride.
An unexpected gift from the Buster.
22 Jobs, all at once; on only one character?
Thanks for the super, but uh.... Solo Bartz is on Premium Buster.
👀 💵 On my way!
And now a new subset of content is available whenever you need to fill for content! "Can you beat FFV with X party theme?" Loved the content, thanks for introducing me to this great game!
"Touch grass? Try mowin' it kiddo." That got me good :D
It's a shame . I wish V was harder.
XD
"I'm Karnak's biggest patron!" Truer words were never spoken. :D
Berserker getting mastered always comes as a surprise. It is a mystery.
Last minute piano panic XD
In a game full of nonsense interactions, reflecting a harp is one of the most nonsensical. :D
I do love seeing EqAxes carry a party, and the Apollo's Harp get to do some bonkers damage. :D
In theory you could have used EqHarps to power up a Gaia Hammer on the Berseker, but in practice I don't think you even needed it.
I can only imagine a best jobs party getting fully synergized, to then decide BUSTIN' is faster and go with that instead. :P
Honestly your FFV videos are some of the best I've ever seen.
Funny how i just started to play ff5 recently. Can't wait to see what other content you make in the future. The 22 job challenge was a fun ride.
Interested to see if your criteria and choices for worst jobs differs from that of suprapika a few months ago
It's nice to know that despite them being the 4 worst jobs having access to 4 jobs is still better than being stuck with just one.
Thank you for months of great FFV content!
A bonus one with the best jobs, to see how easy you can make it (without rods preferably lol) would be interesting tbh
I discovered your channel a little over a week ago and I have been watching two videos per day. Entertaining stuff!
I wasn't ready to say goodbay to FF5 Challenge, so THANK YOU
A dragoon now has access to javalins from sand bears with thief.
Poor Bartz, sucked into the void at the very end , Mugged a little too hard
Gulped into the Shadow Realm for his crimes against pockets everywhere
Lenna couldnt stop herself. She HAD to go in for the kill.
So glad you take ffv's challenges further beyond
I used to put the jump skill on a support class so they can avoid damage, but hide is probably better for that
I've been along for this whole ride.
It was great watching them all and I might have to watch them again later down the road.
also the level song buffs regen ... if you can stall a boss fight its like free high potions
I'd love to see a "normal" playthrough where you can use anything and everything and you show us cool synergies. Like a final (fantasy) victory lap!
Imagine (using) Dragoons would make for a great band parody t-shirt, if you're interested in creating merch.
Not exactly a challenge. But I’ve always had an idea for a run where each character can only use jobs from their own crystal
FF5 dragoon; the first selfish job, well before FF14 or other MMOs had similar concepts
@iantaakalla8180 Even FF Dimensions, a forgotten mobile exclusive game, has a better and more functional Dragoon
@@sertiana2512Dimensions mentioned 🤝
@@baltemys6097 I purchased the game after all haha
Dragoon has one thing to offer... but all the mage jobs that actually benefit from that one thing were taken off the table because rod smashing. Specifically, Dragoon offers MP self-sustain via Lancet.
THE BARDBARIAN RISES
This was really fun and not nearly as bad as I thought.
berserker is a solid class if you're not doing a single job challenge imo
bard is also fine since you have real damage output to buff, honestly i still think geomancer is way worse, !gaia doesnt even pass on its agility and magic stat like equip harps does, and passing on bard's good stats to a berserker allows for really epic rune axe damage.
So next is Bartz only with whatever job you want, right? Lol
I did it 4 months ago as a premium episode.
@@BacklogBuster time to buy you a cold one and get more FFV goodness
Hey i really like the commentary at the end
Before starting, my thoughts are that having 4 jobs and swapping abilities around really does change a lot.
Thief is terrible on its own. But a Thief who can equip berserker weapons, and gets Berserker’s strength stat? That’s something different. Similarly, a Berserker using Thief’s Artful Dodger ability to get massive speed buffs can dish out a ton of unga bunga damage.
Not a lot to say about Bard, but at least having only ONE Bard means you can benefit from the song buffs and let everyone else do damage.
Dragoon is just not worth talking about as usual, lol. It really was done dirty. The GBA rebalance patch makes it worth using though.
I do wonder why this run didn’t give Dragoon Equip Axes.
Great work as always. Curious to see the advance version jobs.
17:45 I didn’t know you could have the Airship sink before you obtain it.
It's not surprising that things become easier when you can use the main mechanic of the game even somewhat. But even with that, Dragoon continues being a wet fart.
And when dragoon’s potential is unlocked, they are worse freelancer doing x8 attack with the twin lance.
Best description for them
Me, who repeatedly fight Twintania to get that goddamn bell to no avail:
Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in
I heard the pixel remaster buffed sword dance to be backrow ok which I think definitely makes it better than dragoon lol.
So excited that we aren't done with this series yet
Can't wait to see the difference between this and Suprapika's video (which if I recall right, the guy didn't even THINK about rod smashing when he put his team together) of Dancer, Berserker, Geomancer, and Thief. Which that's basically your choices but reversed but I find your arguments for the decisions much better, especially after *watching you try every job*.
@@TactlessC Even without considering rod smashing, all mages are inherently powerful already.
@@sertiana2512 White Mage's survivability I do not think outweighs the ability to smash rods.

The ride never ends!
I've been looking forward to this.
Actual madman, I love this guy!
*You're a patron, get thrown in jail*
"Become a patron!"
What did they mean by this... lol
Finally, some redemption for Bard, Barbarian, and Thief.
I think the next job video will be... Samurai, Ninja, Summoner, and Blue mage.
Ohh wow, i wasn't expecting you to do a four job fiesta. Nice to get a little more out of the game.
If you do best jobs, will Omega/Shinryuu be included?
Solo Chemist can defeat Omega and Shinryu relatively unscathed, let alone a team of "best" jobs.
@@sertiana2512 Not implying it's difficult?? Just it's FFV not included in the solo jobs runs that would be a neat include?
Give a bard an axe and he shreds.
Makes sense to me.
I hope we see some four job fiesta content from you!
You should be able to steal a reflect ring from Carbuncle. Two, in fact, but maybe that's not true for pixel remaster.
Yup, one common reflect ring steal from each Carbuncle form probably would have been worthwhile.
New challenge, can you solo the game? Any job/ability combo, gear selection, and strategies. Im assuming a maxed out freelancer with ribbon and white magic would have no issue.
Bards with real party singing the Level or Strength song is really good. But yeah Geomancers are really good against NED.
For the love of god, give us a run with the four best jobs, followed by a playthrougu with whatever jobs you want
