@anguscampbell3020 Heyo, scripts-wise (a joke) I'm not the best. It is honestly one of my weak points when it comes to video production. The use of "wise" has slipped it's way into my general grammar similar to "like" being used to compare something. This doesn't excuse it, especially if it confuses and irritates. Though when using it, it generally alluded to a summation of that subject. "Nobility-wise" meaning virtually everything involving the nobility. The nobles, their property, their traditions, their bloodlines, their internal politics. There are even more lazy uses of it and slips. "Lightspeed-wise" being a good example of a slip up. "Advanced" was a slip of the tongue I didn't notice till WAY after. "Again some people are looking across internally in the concern." Meant to be clarification that it wasn't the totality of the concerns military goals outsiders were investigating, but the internal goals within the concern. The physical systems and the major houses inside them. This is just really poor wording on my part though. In short, I hope this cleared some of the confusion and showed that this comment and it's suggestion are noted. Not the first comment I've gotten that I've listened. I will admit though, the 1984 Newspeak comparison threw me.

There was NOT enough time in the video to go into detail on the Dynasticlade- and you are very right, it is incredible no civil war broke out! But to expand on why: 1) Tyrannus was an unquestionable authority after winning the succession war, one that no-one wanted to even attempt to fight. 2) Calendula (the namesake of the frame), Tyrannus’ daughter, reigned over the transition- and reigned well! 3) The major houses, the forces that could conceivably wage a civil war if they weren’t scared shitless of Tyrannus, got a pretty good deal out of the Dynasticlade, gaining more power since they would no longer be beholden to a monarch. And 4) After the long low Passacaglian period and the succession war that followed, there was little love left for the crown. A lot of people, noble and ignoble, were happy to see it gone. If you couldn’t tell, I do recommend reading the field guide.

When you segued into the colony ships I thought you were about to drop a raid shadow legends on us. Thanks for keeping away from that stuff, but with vids this detailed you’ve definitely earned the right to cash in on that lol.
With a bit more unity, closing the tech gaps could make the Baronies THE dominant powers. If they get on par with Union and the megacorps best, they might decide to do away with Union, and SSC is already trying to cozy up to the Baronies. Because no other faction seems to be able to achieve planetary and solar cracking materials. So Union has to increase the tech edge or find alternative material extraction on vast scale to dilute Karokan power. The biggest thing holding the Baronies back is their neo feudalism, but with this level of material wealth that the other big boys rely on.... that only hurts them so much.
I'm currently playing a comp/con who was a political, and military advisor for a duke of House of Stone. Baronic Intelligence deemed this comp/con as a threat, and he was shipped off to forge world adjacent to Free Sanjak. He was freed by a HORUS cell, and given a Salamander (homebrew Kobold alt in Expanded and Enhanced Combat). He was picked up by the Ungratefuls after being a free intelligence, causing havok within the forgeworld, and was deemed to be a valuable enough asset to be a captain of a company. Shit went down, and now he's on the run. AWOL, and in the pocket of a UIB handler in exchange for a life free of conflict.
Omg Dude, Please make more on the Trade Baronies. I LOVE fuedal societies in a hyper futuristic state! Also.please make a public discord! I'd love to takk and speculate with people who also love this

I imagine like union asking for some resources: "So we neeed to build a few stations" "Yeah sure how many" "Like 3-" "3000 sure no problem we can make it in a week" P.s. fun fact; it is estimated that we could dismantle pluto whithin 60 years with current tecnology and self replicating robots, cool.
Only problem is that FirstComm and SecComm doesn’t actually exist, there’s not even a clear line drawn between them. These Committees were named post-TriComm’s revolution, making a statement of “We will do what FirstComm did, and what SecComm failed to do.” Despite there being no clear distinction between First and Second.
We're getting an HOUR OR TWO??!??! YAY!! I like how this sits between 40k and Dune. Coriolis Rpg is similar but without the mechs. I enjoy these and look forward to the big ones!
Noble Houses, expansive medieval-like cultures, knight mechs and a claim on humanity similar to the claim of Byzantium over the Roman legacy? Oh yeah, this is my kind of stuff.
That history was painfully sad. Here you have a group that has way too much power, its structure just doesn't work on such scales, is highly destructive, has no oversight on its own members, and casually commits atrocities. How in the world have these guys not imploded yet? They feel less like a continuation of humanity and more like a cruel, cynical mirror instead.
They imploded quiet a few times actually. Depending if you count the Melee, Antiannorum (more rebellions than just that one world and not all noble GoT esc rebellion's), Whatever the Annorum Tyrannus might have deliberately censored and destroyed records (Umara's strangely vacant history is a stand out alongside it's harsh punishment compared to other worlds), the Dynasticlade a different shift of power (which does gain a lower house), the central government change in-between the two Union Karrakin wars, Umara relatively peaceful switch to Republican, Bo's not so peaceful change to Republican, or the Ungratefuls. While this became a list it's to show that the Karrakin propaganda of single through line through history isn't quite as continuous. There dominion and control as well has many, many, cracks. In all this though it is narratively a cruel, cynical mirror of technocracies and monopolies.
@@Zaktact oh boy that sounds like a mess. Okay slight refinement then, I am surprised that they aren't a black hole at this point. I kinda want the water house and the historians to just pack up and go to some alternate universe where they aren't in a cruel cynical narrative. Not saying that Throne Karraka can't get that big, but just an FYI for those who don't have the actual Field Guide. Great work on the vid Zaktract!!!
EDIT: ignore me, the figures are in the core book
I actually grabbed it from the Core Book, not the Field Guide. Page 387 talking about Fulcrum Worlds.
@@Zaktact oh shit, my bad chief
Thanks for the video lancer man
Thanks for the man, lancer video
it didn't even feel like 40 minutes. those are the best videos.
You do what you need to do to keep the content flowing as you see fit. Would I have watched a 2 hour video? Absolutely! Would I want the sacrifices on you that would require? Absolutely not! Post when you can, as you can because to me, it's all gold!
THE 30+ MINUTES THRESH HOLD HAS BEEN PASSED. A NEW ERA OF ZAK HAS BEGUN
Great video as always man. You make a lot of this lore easy to digest and it honestly makes me want to play as a minor noble trying to get his house higher in the ranks.
17:55 showing the imperial palace is fitting
This was absolutely incredible. I had no idea just how fascinating and multilayered the trade baronies were. Thank you so much for this monster of a video and for all the other ones you've made so far.
I HAVE BEEN DYING FOR THIS ONE !!! Dragon lancer does alot with them, but your videos have that editing i adore !!! So much easier to understand, thank you soo much !!!
Finally!
I have watched your other lancer videos like three times now in lack of more good content lancer
I have been binging these videos while cracking open lancer's pdf today and making my first character.
God I LOVE this video You put so much effort into it and it shows So excited to learn more about the baronies
Man, I love your style. I'm sitting at work listening to your video -- it's the vibe.
When you hear house of stone
“ROCK AND STONE”
When you segued into the colony ships I thought you were about to drop a raid shadow legends on us. Thanks for keeping away from that stuff, but with vids this detailed you’ve definitely earned the right to cash in on that lol.
I love these videos so much, it’s thanks to this that I even know lancer exists
With a bit more unity, closing the tech gaps could make the Baronies THE dominant powers. If they get on par with Union and the megacorps best, they might decide to do away with Union, and SSC is already trying to cozy up to the Baronies.
Because no other faction seems to be able to achieve planetary and solar cracking materials. So Union has to increase the tech edge or find alternative material extraction on vast scale to dilute Karokan power. The biggest thing holding the Baronies back is their neo feudalism, but with this level of material wealth that the other big boys rely on.... that only hurts them so much.
So lancer is a galactic dystopian cosmic horror game. Which runs counter to what the creators of Lancer stated
Mega engineering and mechs to hell with learning about union I want to learn more about these folks
Nice and informative round-up, thank you, mr. Lancer-man
Very much interested in hearing about KTB religions, it's pretty neat from what I know
A real interesting non-centralized... something. Hard to summarize the millions of versions across the KTB. It is really cool though.
Respect. Loving the videos mate, the editing is solid, love the little touches to other games and such.
Im literally running a game involving the trade baronies in a week, your timing is impeccable my friend😂
Honestly two hours would have been a great watch
This was incredible 🤩
Absolutely fantastic job mate. Man I can't wait to play some Lancer 😃
This is perfect! my next session will have my players going to the Karrakin Trade Baronies
These videos have been awesome! Thanks for the help, planning on running a lancer game next week.
Take all the time you need. Love your stuff. Plus, hey - more videos means more content!
This was one of my favorite videos you've produced so far, I can see why it took so long to produce this video. I can't wait till the next one.
UNGRATEFUL MENTION! WOO!
The amount of things there are in lancer is just absolutely bonkers
This was super fun to watch through and learn about. Thank you!
Ive been so pumped for this one karrakin is my favourite faction love the space knights
I loved the video ❤ and I can't wait for the many others coming (especially the video about 3rd com ❤)
6:49 *Opens comms*
*boss music starts playing*
HOT DAMN, THAT WAS A RIDE!
Hurray! Been looking forward to this video!
I'm definitely gonna run a game in this setting now
There is so much good lore, sometimes i forget that there is a game attached to it
Oh boy this is the longest lore vid so far. And also thank you I'm about to introduce KTB in my star system
Omg Dude, Please make more on the Trade Baronies. I LOVE fuedal societies in a hyper futuristic state! Also.please make a public discord! I'd love to takk and speculate with people who also love this
Omg yes i love long form video. Thanks for this
40 minutes of Lancer Lore from Zaktact and it's not even my birthday. 😩
Looking forward to learning more about te baronies after they've been mentioned in previous videos, so time to dive into this vid immediately!
I imagine like union asking for some resources:
"So we neeed to build a few stations"
"Yeah sure how many"
"3000 sure no problem we can make it in a week"
P.s. fun fact; it is estimated that we could dismantle pluto whithin 60 years with current tecnology and self replicating robots, cool.
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR LETS GOOO
Code Gease eat your heart out. This is what nobles with mechs should look like!
God i love Lancer lore so much. I hope someday i can find the right group to play it
40 MINUTES?!
welp, now i have something to listen to while nyoooming in Warframe
Hey, I've been waiting for this.
I've been looking forward to this one!
Ah yes. The knights of 40K
What’s that? This is the Karrakin Trade Baronies from Lancer?
Oh. Eh. Potato Tomato or whatever. Basically the same.
We're getting an HOUR OR TWO??!??!
YAY!!
I like how this sits between 40k and Dune.
Coriolis Rpg is similar but without the mechs.
I enjoy these and look forward to the big ones!
Selling Ghengis MK1 licenses to albatros operatives is based and justified.
Incredible video
Holy crap, Planetside 2 trailer background footage. Nice.
Man, I gotta get a Lancer game goin' with folks, at some point.
So much for their head start, they lost every war lol
Oh hey a new- 41 MINUTES! Praise Monist-1.
Noble Houses, expansive medieval-like cultures, knight mechs and a claim on humanity similar to the claim of Byzantium over the Roman legacy? Oh yeah, this is my kind of stuff.
3:53 in case someone was wondering, these ship are from the game Nebulous fleet command.
Why is it difficult to find settings that aren't cynical to the extreme?
Fun fact: the passacaglia is also a type of musical composition, possibly of Spanish origin ^^
I see more Zaktact covering Lancer, I hit like
I love lancer so much. Just a cake with a Slight Golden outer layer, and a rotten core inside lol.
hey what music is it at 5:53 ?? i would love to use it in my home games
14:23 Harrison Armory War Crimes Incorporated
i love a good good guy. but every hero needs a villain. and the trade baronies sound like an increadible foil and Achilles heel for the union with their utopian dream. the political conflict between the two has me gripped
