How much work would it be to take photos of certain areas like those "300 when lit" with worn text on worn background, scale them on the computer, and have silk stencils produced to be able to paint the whole plot with a solid background, and then the text back on in its own color?
Thanks for these videos on the Jubilee game! I bought my Jubilee at the flea market in ’81, so it was not very old. It was in pretty good shape and still is. Over time, I’ve cleaned the playfield, replaced the ball shooter, cleaned a few sticky relays, replaced all the rubber rings, and fixed the chimes (like you show in the video). I’ve got to get around to checking the lights that no longer light. But my most urgent repair is the right ball shooter misfires a lot, both in power and direction compared to the left shooter. From you review of the schematics, I think the problem is the coil, so I think I must replace that. I’ll be checking to see if you have a video on how to remove and install a new coil.
Aw Shucks, thanks :) Yeah we don't get the 90's stuff in TOO much just because we like messing with the less expensive stuff. We've got a Bad Cats video coming up soon though.
Years back I found a Darling at a garage sale. It sat in a shed put together for years with a leaky roof. I paid 25 dollars for it for the parts. The backglass was a clear window the cabinet was just falling apart. The weird thing was the playfield was perfect the glass protected it, The chime unit on this game had a hole pounded right threw the chime. looked like the one on that machine started to pound a hole threw it :o)
I had the exact opposite onetime, I found a Bally Wizard in a trailer (a mobile home) that was pretty much destroyed... but the backglass was still in perfect shape. The playfield had no glass on it, and rats or something had eaten (or defecated) a hole right through the middle of the playfield. About a 5" hole was gone right in the middle... but the backglass was perfect :)
Your channel is one of the best there is in regards to old pinball tech. It really shows that you love what you're doing. Since I also tinker around with old EM leftovers, I wanted to ask you what kind of clearcoat you use for the playfields? And since you didn't mention it, I assume you only coat once you're done painting? I've had some bad experiences painting directly on the wooden part of the playfield so I coat twice and paint between the layers.
Yes sometimes you'll get issues painting directly on the wood, especially if it's not completely clean and there's wax still on it... For clearcoat I just use straight up Krylon clear but I typically only do EM's... there's probably better options. Satin seems to look more original in my opinion.... I accidentally sprayed one with Triple Thick once (grabbed the wrong can) and it's way too soft for a playfield...
Does the UK still have any independent art stores? I've always imagined there's stores over there that have been in business for 100 years and still family owned that stuff like this might be cheaper at. Probably nonsense, though, LOL
I'm rehabbing a Jubilee right now :-) Could you share the paint brands and colors (or paint codes) you found that were a good match? Great job on the video! Thanks.
Thank you for the wonder pin videos! I have a question about the Pink and Green colors. Are they neons? On my Jubilee those colors (only those colors) glow under black light. As far as I can tell, because they are underneath the Mylar jet bumper protectors, those are original colors.
Yes they're neons, very hard to paint... some people refer to it as "dayglo". You can't really mix them together or anything, for awhile Williams used that type of paint on their machines. Looks great if it's still in good shape...
@@LyonsArcade Just tried the DecoArt Americana NEONS Sizzling Pink. It matches what is on my playfield. Now waiting for the green from the same manufacturer to come in. Thanks for the reply.
It's fascinating to see how you restore arcade cabinets and pinball machines. Time and patience is required, specially for this (average) machine. But that's called 'hobby' :-)
Hah, nice, i had a Jubilee aswell, with just some minor repaints on the playfield thought. I also "modded" mine abit to add some more trick to the gameplay feeling, with two rubber posts. Also someone had carved genitals on every person on the cab on mine, i kept it as it was since it added to the charm LOL
Well, it was a fully working, free play modded Jubilee (but with cracked backglass) in trade for a Dodge City with reset problem, no legs and "homemade" fuse box-thingamabob, not to mention i also got a an old early 80's brown fakewood general arcadecab with Jumpman too, in the deal.
is it true you get paid apprx. 1 dollar for each 1000 views ? if so you have received about 2 dollars for what must be 40 hours work people should be more appreciative of what you are doing for them. If you set up a Patreon, i think people would make bigger donations, because your work helps out the community in a big way.
We do a little better than that but not much, this video has made about 12 dollars. The ad revenue is just a little bonus, we're not doing the videos just for that, and luckily most people are pretty cool just a few jerks. We have a business we run so we are paid that way, instead of Patreon we ask people to buy their Amazon stuff after clicking our Amazon link in the description, it pays us a royalty for everything you buy even if you were already going to buy it :) Thanks for watching Elvis!
Oh, I thought the kickers next to the flippers were a first on Space Mission
Top job , love how you restore these pinball machines, what a pleasure to be able to turn up to work and do this.😁😁
Working on my "Travel Time" by Williams. The information on the chimes was very helpful. Thanks a million.
Thank you Rick glad you could use it! Have fun with your Travel Time!

Just wanted to add that I really enjoy and appreciate the videos you produce. Please keep 'em coming!
We will :) See you on the next one
I am totally in Love with your videos!
I have 8 B/W from the 90‘s - they are quiet different - still I like seeing the older stuff

It turned out really nice,it's good to see these older games getting some TLC. Keep up the great work:)
Thanks Darren, this was a neat one to work on, took forever though!

Neat, a field trip to Michaels 😁 and apparently if you love your chime you should put a ring on it 😂
Ahhh, Michaels. That was back before they locked the country down because of the plandemic!
To think how happy we'd be to run errands like that simple now. Hope you stocked up on 70 cent paints :)
If it gets bad enough I'll go out to the store, i'm just not a big fan of the masks.
Those paint pots are 70c! In the UK pretty sure they'd be £1.50-1.99 each. We get ripped off on everything.
Does the UK still have any independent art stores? I've always imagined there's stores over there that have been in business for 100 years and still family owned that stuff like this might be cheaper at. Probably nonsense, though, LOL
The play field looks fantastic bud, you did a really good job.
Thanks Jobra Commander, we appreciate it!

Shew, a laborious project for sure. Good on you sir. Playfield looks 100% better.
Thanks Mark :) You oughta see the mess we're working on right now, lol

Wow..That was a labor of love but fun game! Saved it!!!
Yeah it took awhile but it sold immediately when we were done :)
@@LyonsArcade Good for you!
Beautiful job!

Yup it's fun, we like bringing them back to life. We get decent money out of them when we sell them too so it all works out :)
Wow just watched that gave you a fit
Yeah it was in pretty bad shape!
Does a playfield need wax after clear coat or leave as is ?
We always wax them after clearcoating. Kind of like a car, it has clear coat on it but still needs the wax.
@@LyonsArcade Thanks, love your channel.
well done joe !! :) a great effort i would say !! x
Thanks Sas Farmer, on to the next one :)
This is the kind of mess that I like to do, only for myself it relaxes me I am going to start another field I don’t care if it takes months
Nice save on that old EM 👍🏼
Thanks Danijel we appreciate it :)
I heard there is a company which does playfield foils. TNT amusement did a video about that. Maybe they could do a reproduction of that playfield...
It's not a very popular game so I doubt they'd want to mess with it...
@@LyonsArcade I would ask, can't hurt :)
i wonder why this last guy bothered to mess with it
They were probably putting it in an arcade bar but got rid of it after they got something better in...
I did not do that one I clean mine before I sprayed it
I know it wasn't you man :)

Yes, it does give it a classy feel, LOL Post up a video if you ever get around to it, that'd be neat to see.
Sadly i dont have it anymore, i traded it away for a Dodge City around..spring 2016, i believe, but i have some pics left.
Holy shit you got somebody to trade you a Dodge City for Jubilee? We might need you to help the President negotiate with China

Man that's still a great trade, I'd much rather have a Dodge City :) We're working on a "Lariat" right now, very cool game.
Hi Joe what would this table be worth in 2023 or is it a a table that no one wants ?
Cleaned up working well at our store it would be around $1500.
cool pinball!
