I am sure Premakeerthi had Pera in his mind when he wrote this legendary song. Even today when old campus folks like us get together to sing, this song has a special place in the party. No matter if you have had a similar experience or not, the lyrics and music can make you chilling sobber and take you to your past. Premakeerthi had enough personal stuff in his life to experience similar nostalgic feelings. He was a man with an ultra sensitive heart, definitely deserved to be born in heaven.
I was there in Pera in 1999 - 2003 , in E fac.. I really enjoyed during my stay in the Uni. I think even today lots of people like to attend Pera, however I do agree with you since today it does not have the same popularity like those days in 80s. As an overall , today slowly deteriorating the popularity of state university system due to several reasons. The invasion of foreign educations , quite old syllables , lack of soft/ job oriented focused skills can be identified as few of them.
