You Only Live Twice - Alternative Opening Titles with George Lazenby

- What if Lazenby had returned for a second film? What if Connery's fifth film wasn't 'You Only Live Twice'? Here is the answer! Had the Blofeld trilogy been completed in order then this would be the final outing for Blofeld after the murder of Tracy Bond on her wedding day.
With Tracy's death being the pre-title sequence (similar to my alternative 'Diamonds Are Forever') and the story continuing from 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', I decided to add Gabriele Ferzetti and Virginia North to the opening credits (Draco and Olympe respectively). Telly Savalas and Ilse Steppat are also added from that film. I removed Mie Hama from the cast and kept Akiko Wakabayashi to allow for there just to be one main female lead for Bond (considering this is a sequel film). I also added Kate O'Mara to the cast where I would envision her to play a version of Mary Goodnight (in a similar role as in the 'You Only Live Twice' novel).
With this version, I kept on a lot of the crew from the previous film so that includes Peter Hunt as director, John Glen as editor etc. This does mean that we wouldn't get the amazing volcano set which is not a thought anyone really wants!
I created a poll on Twitter where people voted on which version of 'You Only Live Twice' (or 'We Have All The Time In The World') they would want using if Tracy's death was the pre-title and the majority voted for Nancy Sinatra's version. I intended to use this but the transition just wasn't working so I decided to switch to Julie Rogers' version of the song which I think musically and lyrically fits much better with the tone set during the pre-title sequence.
This was fun to do, not perfect but a nice "what if" that I hope you all will enjoy.

Nice graphic match from the radial fractures of the bullethole in the windscreen to the opening wagasa.
Great work as always Sam! any plans on doing any more in the future such as Timothy Dalton in For Your Eyes Only with the Blondie version of the song, or Pierce Brosnan in Casino Royale using one of the many unused themes from that film such as Sandra's one.
Thank you so much! I have a couple of ideas in progress right now, both from title sequences that I haven’t done yet so keep an eye out for those. I would love to do a For Your Eyes Only edit, the main issue is that Sheena Easton heavily features in the sequence itself so it’d be weird to have any other song on top of it so if I do an edit it may need to be made up of footage from other sequences.
Casino Royale is another that I would love to do (along with Quantum of Solace) but as far as i’m aware there are no textless/creditless versions of those sequences which is really disappointing as i’d much prefer to make it seem more legitimate by putting alternate cast members and song artist/title in myself so at the moment it’s a no but hopefully I can in the future!

Thanks for the comment. A mix of being busy and a lack of interest to continue led from me taking a break from creating content on RUclips. I always intended to come back but wasn’t sure if creating those types of videos would interest me anymore and unfortunately I haven’t felt the passion to continue.
Never say never, I may want to revisit that again in the future but for now i’m creating other content and enjoying watching some Super Sentai from time to time. Not sure about each of those seasons or individual ranger positions but Kyuranger would have all the MMPR cast and Tanya for sure!
