- Jay Meagher and the Real Street Performance team are back! On this episode we cover a 4 year long abuse test on the legendary Toyota Supra 2JZ engine. After a lot of racing and countless dyno pulls, the team decided to test knock sensitivity by detonating the engine on purpose using lower quality fuels with the intent of assessing the data/damage. After a lot more abuse the engine finally gave out, watch along to learn what parts failed and how to diagnose failed engine components.
Who clicked on this out of respect for this crazy guys?
Immense respect.👏
I certainly did, often find it hard to understand the intricacies of engines but had to just cos of the time & patience put into these
A 100 pulls on an engine of that power level would be impressive, 500 would be insane.
A 1000 is truly outstanding. Incredible work regarding the integrity of that build and all the parts within it.
As well, the dedication to the sport and its participants; whether they are shops installing and recommending these products, or customers racing and beating the piss out em, is immense.
Awesome vid guys, thanks for the hard work.
Im passed 500 with stock valvetrain at 9200rpm k20 not a single drop of oil gets burned yet im impressed hehe, far from this for sure
There something therapeutic about watching an engine being taken apart
When I saw " We Destroyed a 1500 hp supra" I got all excited thinking it was the TRC R32 GTR finally 😂.
😂 soon!
Did you NOT read the title ?? Or at least comprehend it ?
@@ACommenterOnRUclips
Moron most likely couldn’t comprehend 😂
"We were gonna stop around a 1000 horsepower, but we had a 8385.... and it just sorta happened." Yeah, hate it when that happens. 😂😂😂
Great video Jay! Love the time-lapse of the engine tear down too. Top notch quality dyno pulls with excellent sound quality!
The sheer commitment to build a car for the purpose of destroying it's engine for this info is truly legendary. 👍
I do this for a living working at Cummins. It's always interesting to see how people characterize wear and material displacement when looking at all of the components. It's nice to see someone who knows what he is talking about. It's even more fun when you can connecting the engineering principals to exactly why everything was damaged or worn.
I think there will never be so cool car like Supra
8:55 wow that's fucking awesome. I don't race cars just enjoy fast cars and want to have a fast car one day but MAD fucking respect to you guys for being so willing to help everyone in the field when they really need help the very most when an engine blows.
I love watching this guy his an eminance when he explain it ...🤙👍👍
This guy knows his shit right here 😮👍👍
I've only taken one engine apart and it was really interesting :). Love these videos for the details.
When I see a Supra I click like straight away
Another great video from TRC filled with information from Jay and Real Street. Love it!
Thanks again for your help on my build still going strong 800hp 1.5 yr 7000 very hard miles 500+ pulls. Look forward to doing business with yall. Realstreet/jay #1
Over 1,000 dyno pulls?! I love supras
I love the Realstreet engines.. Jay I need two new motors built with all the Sauce.
Jay is the boss. His knowledge and driving skills, tuning/building is legendary 😎💪.
I see no driving record on him?
If i ever get my hands on another supra, im sending it to Jay and the team all day!!
So many takers in life; while Jay keeps handing out solid gold to the community.
Great info and fun to watch your engine vids
And love the Supra at the end running 197 mph in 1/2 with no rollbar or harnesses lol..
I can’t imagine being in something that fast. I running with 400 hp in a evo x. In that I’d lose my mind and maybe my life.... that is fast
Love Real St technical information. These guys know what they are talking about because they are leading the way in 2JZ technology 👍
The king of 2jz in the u.s, dude is so humble and doesn't leave anything out
2JZ truly does decimate all not just in power but reliability.
would love to see more of the turbo comparison videos with the dyno graphs 👍
Thank you for making us just a little bit, better.
These are some of the best videos because you get to learn from an expert or rather a master. This guy knows his shit so well he can see what we can't and that's invaluable info for us who don't tear down and rebuild engines constantly. His knowledge is impressive and honestly that's the kind of guy you want to hang with so you can absorb it. Of course that would be annoying for him heh so yeah. Anyway, awesome video. It would be awesome to just have this guy do more videos and educate us newbs who have only torn down an engine maybe once or twice. + The way he explains things is perfect. This guys is like Engine Yoda.
Jay is the best teacher ever
That R&D pays off! To all of us car lovers. That's how its done. Thank you.
Awesome breakdown and explanation. Most hide that sort of info.
Informative video with some eargasm thrown in at the end , I likey.
Great info Jay
Incredible detailed engine teardown. ❤️❤️❤️😎😎😎
Thank you for sharing your wisdom. This was badass.
Holy Geez! Those pulls at the end 🔥
love watching him gaptize that gtr
I wish I had half the experience and wisdom Jay has. Guys seriously on some grand-master shit with engine building and tuning 👌👍
Engine bay is so clean!
Fantastic informative video good work 👍🏻
More of this type of content!
Excellent video some great information
So much info. Thanks.
Great vid! Quite enjoyed it
The stereotypical internet A80 from over 1000whp all the way to the TRD wing and drag radials on the rear 😂
Great episode💪
Wow I feel incredibly dumb of all sudden
So much power from a little engine.
Now that was a dope vid🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
How can I get that failed piston head, rod and/or wrist pin from ya? Would like to buy any/all of them as a souvenir. :)
Those dyno pulls at the end 😃😃 sweet honey BBQ ..
Ok, "Cleetus".
So if I put this motor in a daily street car, it should be good for quite a while until I would want to rebuild it... I was lookin hard in to the K24a2 motor but puttin this in a eg hatch has been done and I think I’m up for the challenge of making better motor mounts
Hohmies Mcfly do iiittttt
U will need to make channel for the transmission and channel for the driveshaft..its been done before..basically need to cut the car in half allmost..
The k24 might be a better option lolll gd luck
With the pistons flexing what did it do to the block sleeve
The average person would never run their cars this hard ...reliability is an understatement....
Damn y’all use a supra for a Dino mule
It’s dyno, for dynamometer. Not dino, that’s short for dinosaur dummy 😂
@Dany I was just about to say the same thing these people are ignorant asf
Latnlvr what a childish comment.
Rick Rucker I’m fluent in 2 how about you loser?
Donald Duck005 Hahahahahaha thanks
That sequential is nasty!
If i wanted to build a Supra, i would only do it at Real Street. I think they are the absolute best there is.
Let’s see a rebuild serious of that engine 🤘
Y was this engine so clean... I saw not one drip of oil on the cams or nothing, no coolant drips nada.. Howww??
Did u guys take down the 2300 hp gold supra
Great info here 👍🏼
Not other 6 cylinder in the world can touch the 2jz,alot talk, but facts are it's in it's on level 💯
Curious as to why not use a connecting rod that has had color change? During rebuild for a p71 4.6 I had to press fit the pins, which in turned colored the small end of the rod. Is that basically the same concept anyway or is it just coloring changes in spots that are abnormal or ones made from just running?
Great video
How can anyone not like the 2jz
Such an awesome and informational video! I would have chose RunFile_013.drf lol!
Werks Guy woah dude l was literally watching your videos then clicked this video then you commented 😂😂😂😂 wtff
@@Rolling45Transportation Lol! Jokes guy! An super random fosho.
lots of good info here
The fact their 2JZ was tortured test to the point parts gets destroyed.
One will wonder how ThatDudeInBlue 2JZ 240SX destroyed so many built 2JZs with just 500 to 600bhp.
I say bad tune altogether
Bad tune,bad parts,bad measurements...
@@upnorthviking823 no way a built 2JZ has bad parts. If you see the part list for the 2JZ they are quality parts
Lin Chester bad machining? Bad assembly? Bad break in procedure? Bad gas?
Awesome video. Love educational stuff; especially when it comes to dispelling myths or assumption. 1000 pulls X 1000 HP(avg) = 1 Million HP produced. Very impressive!
Sweet video
Thats a gorgeous supra
the 7675 gen1 was the most balanced had more torque at 3000 as well
Real street guys are the best
amazing video
at 5:00 when referencing "poor oil quality" what can an average guy do reasonably to mitigate this issue? Frequent oil changes, more so than nomal? Because a dry sump system is out of budget for me and many out there
Increase your oil pressure if possible, some pumps even the original ones allow some, if an oil cooler is present ensure there is a thermostat in the system, adding oil cooler and longer/larger lines than needed increases your total oil capacity, manage and monitor oil temperature, after sometime you'll be able to do it by just looking at the oil pressure gauge (oil pressure higher on colder oil, pressure lower on hot oil)..
I think the most important aspect of this is pointed through the whole video, data data data... Need to do some homework before making changes, or you may end with worse setup than before. Boring, tedious but necessary.
Increasing oil pressure and adding oil cooling with bigger oil lines would be great start as other comment says but here is the catch: better oil will always help alot, and more frequent changes will help alot aswell since oil manufactuers and car manufactuers put thier estimations on stock power and torque, same goes for other parts of car and lubrications inside said parts
#3 cylinder I'm assuming.. u didn't mention how bad the cylinder walls got scratched, or that the block is useless now.. 🧐
😊
This is awesome...
i wonder what his opinions are on the s65 v8 m3's that are prone to rod bearing failure.
I thought I read about some aftermarket fix for that
@@papa_pt there is an aftermarket fix you take it apart and replace the bearings but i want to know what he thinks is the reason behind it
Dude subtitles got him on lock!
oooh boi I would see a tuujay with a decent bedplate. gazoo should do this revision.
Anyone know what turbo that is?
6:40 what does ingalling mean or am i hearing that wrong? would appreciate an explanation
He says "and galling" i thinks that's metal to metal friction damage.
@@jhernandez2199 thanks, makes sense
Yea I got 2010 stock 88k miles that slaps in cold weather. Then they have a 8-14 horse power car that did that for thousands of runs.
Guys how many pull over 1,000whp would a Subaru STI engine last?
None..they barelly handle being stock.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and they get beat by stock k20s
So at the end, about 600-700 horse power is like the healthy and long living power
Can I get a free dyno session? Lol
Why would you do that .??
Wow my dream car and u guys destroy it
They didnt destroy the car .... stupid comment
Sheesh, no wonder the v8 guys hate these engines.
I6 configuration is way more reliable than v6 of v8 config.
👌👍
Wow only a shop would blow a 2jz on purpose
There no JZ parts on the table
Sheesh
detonated on purpose...
jz east detonation for breakfast
👍🏽🔥🔥
Damnnnn
I'll go back to a stock Honda where these issues can't happen
Lol, awesomeness
Huh cool
toyota the cutest
Cutest? 😂😂😂
