"In this movie, you see a lot of spells but you don't feel any of the magic." - Jeremy Jahns "The real crime in this movie is that it's just so boring." - Chris Stuckman
“the masterpiece people weren’t ready for.” - Harry Thomas (god, that guy is the same opinion disrespecter who defended himself from fans of Wreck-it Ralph as opposed to its shitquel which came the same time as FB&tCoG)
Smartest thing I heard all day I literally didn't care about the beasts and newt story, I was getting so bored until Hogwarts popped up and the ministry confronting Dumbledore about grindelwald, got to the stage I was like what's Newt actually here for again? The story is drifting from the fantastic beasts thing it's not necessary, just make Dumbledore the main character lol, everyone else side characters, I'd care more about Newt that way
@@ItsAnIsaac you mean nothing? The movie was boring as shit. It's only saving grace were the visuals which were FUCKING AMAZING!! other than that... a very appropriate "meh"
@Adirjana Radosevic Exactly. In our review, I said it was like Rowling was trying to stuff an 800-page book into a two hour movie. This probably would have been a fantastic book, but it was not a good movie.
darklighter66 Agreed, Fantastic Beasts should have just been one movie and then a prequel trilogy about Dumbledore instead of Newt being the main character for five movies, at least a prequel movie trilogy about a younger Dumbledore would be more interesting because we actually care about the character and can see more to his side of the story as the main character instead of him being a character to help out the other main protagonist and be a side character compared to the other characters
The first fantastic beasts was a breath of fresh air and I enjoyed it thoroughly...but it worked so much better as a stand-alone movie in the Harry Potter universe and should’ve just been left alone without a sequel. Other stand-alone movies like the rise of Voldemort for example, would’ve been another great insight into the huge universe but no one really wanted another fantastic beasts film.
I like this idea! Like you I adore the first film. I liked the second one, but I felt dissatisfied because it felt so episodic, where the first was neat and self contained.
Agree 100% especially about Nagini. Why couldn't she just be a snake!! That's what made her so scary. Now she is a human and we are supposed to empathize with her?! No... just no.
As a massive, hardcore fan of the Harry Potter books and movies, I was always skeptical of the whole Fantastic Beasts idea. Firstly, JK Rowling is a novelist, not a screenwriter. Fantastic Beasts was literally her first screenplay ever. That's insane, given that this is a multi-million dollar franchise. Second, Harry Potter was obviously a story she was compelled to tell. Fantastic Beasts fundamentally has no story. The book was a fake textbook, nothing more. It's obvious these movies are simply being made as a way to milk the franchise. And if you look into it, you'll see that none of this was Rowling's idea. Warner Bros are the ones who approached her and asked her to develop a story for more movies, and they are the ones who suggested the Fantastic Beasts premise (which is a dumb premise and a dumb title). The fact that that premise lasted one movie (and a boring one, at that) before turning into Dumbledore V Grindelwald shows the lack of any real story for Newt and his friends. They should have just made a young Dumbledore trilogy. Cast a phenomenal actor as Dumbledore, focus on him, make him an even more iconic and brilliant character by showing his prime, and end the trilogy with the epic 1945 showdown.
Mark Hogan this!!! There was so much there already in the story to have the Dumbledore/ Grindlewald story to come to life! It would’ve made so much more sense.
Have you watched it? To me it seems Jeremy forgot theres a sequel coming still. They're definitely building up to that and that does mean they HAVE already given next a decreasing role in the events. He is still key for that to happen though. I honestly don't understand why people are drawing conclusions based on some dudes review without seeing the movie. He DEFINITELY missed out on things I think Harry Potter fans would pick up on
I did watch it at the pre-screening. I'm honestly just alarmed so many people are here when they haven't seen it. For me I think it's more like LOTR Two Towers - not the best one but an essential bridging gap to the final movie. They're drop quite a bit of references that have significant meaning to family ties and where certain characters even in the main storyline get their start
I agree. I feel FB should've been one movie which was 2016 which was pretty good. Not amazing or perfect but good. Similar to Hobbits when there was one book and they made a trilogy where last one is mediocre and two movies are good. Now she wants to make 5 movies off one book? This one is mediocre and flat compared to first one. But as I said, FB should've been one movie(2016 and that's it) or two like Hobbit but take time to make good second movie to be as good or better than first and not worse than second.
Never i've had hope on this movie tbh. The first Fantastic Beasts fell flat to me. Also, can you talk about the Detective Pikachu trailer? Or do a reaction to it... I don't know.
The first one was fine, but that's it...just fine. Which in contrast is disappointing on many levels. I wanted that feeling I always got from watching Harry Potter, but I just didn't. Sucks
Why is it when people dislike a movie they always claim to be a longtime/die-hard/Huge fan of the Franchise, why not just leave it at that? "I didn't like it", that's it. Oh well, I'm not a fan, so I'll be watching the Movie with a neutral mindset.
Expecting disappointment from hollywood these days it a legitimate thing these days, since it happens so often. Having that expected disappointment confirmed by a review is just a consequence, not a result of bias. So many sequels are simply an attempt to milk more money from a franchise, don't hate just because people see it coming.
jimothy shrimp That’s pretty much the opposite of me lol. I love the Harry Potter books, but JK Rowling is like an overly political version of George Lucas at this point
I enjoyed the first Fantastic Beasts immensely, I thought it would be Harry Potter all over again with great characters full of life, interesting stories behind those characters and in the first movie I felt that truly about many of them, if not all. The random introduction where Mr.Kowalsky meets the wizarding world and is not supposed to be there at all, Newt coming to New York with a suitcase full of different kinds of beasts, the fantastic story about Credence that got my attention instantly, Tina being introduced as a detective in New York and her crazy mind-reading sister. In this movie I felt like the characters fell "out of character", they didn't have that wittiness, randomness and the movie got serious all of a sudden, exactly what you don't want in this kind of movie, excluding the humour in serious situations in this movie is a terrible idea. And like Jeremy said, it lacked a lot of focus, it was hard to keep track of who is who, why they were doing what they were doing, and it was just one plot over the other, it became a mess that ended very poorly and was poorly executed. At moments it felt like this movie had that Marvel humour which I don't respect, because the first one (Fantastic Beasts) and all the other Harry Potter movies had humour that was their trademark, taking that away from this movie and replacing it with something that is worse (in my opinion) felt like one big commercial that only cared about selling and not making the audience leave with a wonderful memory and excitement about the next movie.
I agree with most of what you said except the part about Marvel humor. It wasn't nearly that sarcastic or quippy. In fact, the only funny moments are Kowalski's reactions to things early in the movie. I agree that Marvel humor wouldn't fit with the characters they have, but I didn't see them try it here. That type of humor DOES work with Marvel characters though and that's what makes it great. They've built their characters a certain way and it works.
All of these reviews are rather confusing to me. I think the mistake most people make is thinking it'll be Harry Potter all over again. These aren't stories based off of books, so it seems kind of insane to me that people expect the same quality of writing, instead of just comparing it to the previous screenplay.
@@angellocastro9448 I don't agree with that statement. Of course people are going to compare this to the Harry Potter movies because it belongs in the same universe (me included), also why I thought it would be Harry Potter all over again is because the first movie presented itself in that fashion for a couple of reasons which I included in my first comment. People are also comparing this movie to the previous one and the general opinion is that it dissapointed. As a fan of Harry Potter and honestly an even bigger fan of Fantastic Beasts I can say that this new movie did not meet the expectations that the first movie put up.
@@mariorobe4805 You must understand the source material is not the same. We're not dealing with the quality of writing you'd expect from a book, which can take countless years to be released. The fact that Rowling was talented enough to write 7 amazing books in 10 years should not be taken as an indication that she'll be as talented when it comes to writing a script or an original screenplay. Just like with the last movie, I feel people are blindingly comparing these movies to the original 8 because they WANT them to be just as good, which to me is just madness. I'd go even as far as to say that anyone who keeps their expectations as high as they were when the original movies were coming out is just setting themselves up for major disappointment for the remaining 3 movies.
@@angellocastro9448 Yes, we can't expect the same level that the Harry Potter put out but some fans actually prefer Fantastic Beasts over Harry Potter because the first movie was amazing and it posted such a high level of screenplay, acting, setting etc., I think most people expected the story to go in it's natural direction, what this movie did was a mess, it made me more confused than satisfied with the whole movie experience, but kudos to Johny Depp for the amazing acting. If this movie had taken the same route as the first one that was full of suprises and good humour I think everyone would have a blast watching it.
Goes to show that book writers don't automatically become good movie writers there two very different forms of writing. I mean remember when Stephen King wrote his own shinning movie it sucked because he wrote it like a book writing a movie and writing a film are very different things.
... Steven king didn’t write the shinning script for movie and has been quoted that he hates how the movie turned out. I think he’s still angry about it lol
Yea. J.K is pulling a Lucas in this "Harry Potter prequels". His arc was complete. This is too much exposition and forcing plots and easter eggs on the fans
I think it's a bullshit rule now for every amazing fantasy series to have a prequel trilogy that ends up being garbage and making the originals feel less than they actually are. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, now Harry Potter... What's next?
I've said it then I say it now! A prequel to harry potter? Sure.. make it abt the 4 founders of hogwarts and when salazar slytherin wanted only full bloods and was against those other 3 wizards that wanted to allow half blood students too. With that conflicts between them, show slytherin build the chamber of secrets in hogwarts...And follow for what we got to know in harry potter chamber of secrets .. slowly following the sequels with voldemorts younger days as a slytherin student and how he wanted to find out abt the secret chamber to later becoming the dark lord!
@@ToXiCPoTAtOzZ I got this whole idea when I rewatched chamber of secrets n when hermione asked proffessor McGonagall abt the chamber during class! The back story was so much onteresting that I never understood why they didn't do prequel abt the founders!
@@loganjames7736 I know! These two movies are waste. The first movie was just pokemon go.. they could make harry potter world so much better abt THE hogwarts founders than making it abt some author of dark whatever magic text book of year 1... they could already work w characters that exits than making up new forgettable villains.. such as grindelwald..
watch out, you'll get your (diluted ) wish, that'll be after these 5 movies, and stretched over 4 films, but in between we''ll have the extended (star wars style) universe, rogue one will kick it off, guaranteed it'll be hagrid standalone. you got 10 films coming in the next 20 years at least, and this flop is just the start
Movie sucked. Mechanically it had weird transition scenes. The humor was lame and predictable. So many random “important “ people. The story line was choppy.
Make a prequel series with the RISE OF VOLDEMORT! That is the brutal and gritty story I want! Follow Harry’s mom and dad in school (SEE SNAPE AGAIN), the order of the Phoenix, flashback to Tom Riddle’s past, see the death and destruction that earns him the reputation he had and root for the small bands of wizards who stood up to him!
The reason the memory swipe didn't work on Jacob is because in the first movie, they were originally going to obliviate him and THAT would have wiped his memory completely, but instead Newt used that potion he made from that Swooping Evil creature's venom, and he explained in the first movie that it only removes BAD memories. Jacob had so many memories to love about magic, so he held on to all of his memories of Magic, Newt, Queenie, pretty much all of it. So that part isn't random lol
Yeah the last scene of the first movie even shows him getting a standard Hollywood memory return scene. I'm glad they just went right into him having them all back in this movie and not waste another sideplot on it.
@@vixiestarfire Ok so,what happend with him is that up until he saw Queenie again Jacob tought all of that was just a dream he could remember all of that but as I said he tought it was all a dream.
I think Jeremy was complaining less about HOW the memory swipe didn't work, and more about WHY they established swiping his memory at end of the first movie if he's just going to remember everything at the beginning of the second one.
Yeah why didn't they just call it The Crimes Of Grindlewald? It's not like they need to put Fantastic Beasts in the title to get recognised, everyone knows what the movies are
It makes absolutely no sense, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald? Should've taken a page from the Middle Earth games and called itself Wizzarding World: The Crimes of Grindlewald
You have to remember it's part of the Fantastic Beasts franchise like Harry Potter is a franchise but I do see your point about calling it Wizarding World. However as its a direct sequel to the original Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie then it has to take on the Fantastic Beasts prefix
Finally someone with all the same thoughts I have! My sister and I watched it together and we both had extremely polarizing opinions. She loved every bit of it while me on the other hand was like, “what was even the point of this movie? Nothing happened until the last 20 minutes and you can probably just google that easily!” But she’s also a die hard Potterhead and basically just eats anything up cause it’s canon. But to me that legit felt like I wasted two hours of my life. Like even the decent plot twists didn’t really get to me because i was bored for 80% of the movie.
Tom wasn't born yet in the first movie, with the 2nd movie. Hes only a few months old. The 5th movie is in 1945, when Tom leaves Hogwarts wait till the other movies
@@jonthompson1068 I wasn't trying to spoil it but he is really only in the movie to say him and Grindelwald used to be lovers and made a blood oath to not fight each other thus Newt needs to fight him... So later people can't bitch about how Dumbledore didn't do anything when clearly he should've been alive at the time.
@Alastor 52 because having cool, straight (you can add masculine if you want) characters does not comply with the agenda. C'mon dude use your brain lol
I do find this interesting how divisive the feedback on this movie is, it's like people saw two different movies. I completely loved it, but the people who didn't like it just loathed it. Every negative thing Jeremy said, I just didn't see that. I really enjoyed the characters and thought they really grew them from the first movie. And, maybe my takeaway was, I knew this was essentially Chapter 2 in a 5 part story, so things like Nagini, I have faith will be relevant in the future. To me, it felt like they were just introducing her for future things, and you know she ends up with Voldemort, so it feels like she's gonna be important. So, for me, I had no problem accepting that there is, what feels like a lot of set up happening in this movie. And, I watched it yesterday and still can't stop thinking about it and theorizing about how the story will play out. I plan on going and watching it a few times. I guess that's the fun in stories and movies is different things can resonate with different people. Some just super hate this movie, I, however adored it. I would encourage fans to check it out and make your own opinions, because, just reading this comment thread it is well received by a lot of fans.
Brett Merritt what kind of setup? I don’t really have any questions after having just seen it. For now it feels like grindelwald has a plan, and everyone is playing into his hands...
Brett Merritt i have a couple small complaints (the lack of Dumbledore being one) but I honestly loved it and was very surprised at how dark it really got. I had no problem with Nagini being human, I really didn’t. She’s still Voldemort’s evil snake later, it’s not like that’s gonna change. I’m definitely looking forward to the next few movies. And I loved the sweet moment between Tina and Newt, and the niffler saving the day (my friend next to me said “good boy”) Also I liked how they actually gave the whole “Dumbledore loved Grindelwald” thing more substance with the mirror scene. Sure, it’s not explicitly stated in the books but it still works for me. All in all it felt like “The Empire Strikes Back” for Harry Potter; darker but also very good
Brett Merritt your right about this being a part 2. I felt the movie kind of just ended leaving me wondering and underwhelmed so I hope we get a much better third film
EXACTLY! Dumbledore should have been the main protagonist. In fact, I would even say if Rowling absolutely had to write a prequel series, she should've just focused on the Marauders. Sirius and Lupin are two of the most popular characters in the series. We could've seen the friendship between the Marauders, Snape and Lily's friendship, James and Lily's romance. We could've seen the original Order of the Phoenix try to fight of Voldemort. There's so much story there, that could've been explored with characters we actually give a shit about. Instead, we have a completely obscure character who just happened to have written one of Harry's textbooks. At first, I thought that was really cool, but I just did not really find Newt to be an interesting or engaging protagonist, and I really love Eddie Redmayne. I think maybe that was one of the reasons the movie did not do as well as the other Harry Potter movies.
Exactly. He is by far the most compelling character. So much story to tell that would have illuminated so many of his brilliant and questionable to downright disturbing choices from the HP series. He is a character deserving of a prequel.
@@janhavi1977 I agree, mostly. I think Newt is a great protagonist (in my opinion), but if Fantastic Beasts HAD to be made, I feel like JK could have cut out the Credence and Grindelwald stuff and just focus on Newt for a single movie, which would just be the first movie. They didn't need to add all of this other stuff. It would've been smarter of JK to do a series on the Marauders. There's so much there to tell.
you are absolutely right! The moment I saw that the Dumbledore and Grindelwald story would be part of this movie, I decided not to watch it. I want a movie about them! Not some weird "fantastic beasts the story of dumbledore" hybrid! My first reaction was literally: This is Dumbledores fight! Why did they have to shove Newt into this??? If he goes up against Grindelwald, I am going to be seriously disappointed! Then again, I will only see this movie when it comes to free tv.
OHCAM5 well, Jeremy drew the correlation, not me. But they could be perceived as “equal” in a thematic sense in that they were both narrative choices by the creator of the original concept which retroactively alter the initial perception of that concept. I.E. those being “Force Sensitive” originally seen as simply having a strong, inexplicable connection the the Almighty Force which surrounds, binds and penetrates all things in existence being boiled down to the simple factor of a “Midichlorian Count” in an individual. In a parallel line of thinking, JK Rowling’s recent narrative shift that Nagini is a human rather than a non-human snake can fundamentally alter the audience/reader’s perception not only of Nagini herself, but also of Voldemort’s unique relationship with her, etc, even her Coup-De-Grace performed so heroically by Neville Longbottom takes on an entirely new effect here 😬😬😬
@@JediBunny Maybe it's been a while, but I feel like you could make an argument that midi-chlorians are an indicator of force sensitivity, not force sensitivity itself. Like, the Force itself has an effect on the human body. I could be grasping though, and again... it's been a while.
I haven't watched the movie yet, but just the idea of Nagini being a human makes me scared of this prequels ruining the lore just like "HP The cursed child" did, and that makes me afraid just to watch them..
it was always hinted that she was human. mostly in goblet of fire where hp dreams of events that happen with vold talking to the snake more as a companion then a pet/ henchmen.
@@azadalamiq Um in the real world there are people who talk to their pets like they're people too. More than that, Voldemort talks to Nagini like she's a person because he's a Parseltongue and can actually communicate with her...
oh baby a tripol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I actually feel quite the opposite. If it’s pulled off well then making Nagini a full fledged character would really add to the tragedy of her story in Harry Potter and adds a new sense of perspective when you return to those stories kind of like watching Rogue One and then watching A New Hope right after.
I enjoyed the film, it had a lot wrong with it but there was also a lot of good stuff. Special effects were fantastic and the world-building as a whole in the film was enjoyable for me, the plot was waaaay too convoluted though, definitely needed to streamline it down (the black avenger wizard could have been completely cut from the script imo and the whole l'estrange family mystery thing just felt like a pointless wild goose chase with little to no payoff). The opening was good and the finale had me leaving the theatre in a better mood, I also enjoyed basically anything with Dumbledore as well, I would say; don't go in with high expectations but if you want a largely fun harry potter film then this is fine.
The Wizarding World is so large and expansive. Why JK Rowling feels the need to keep referencing and repeating aspects of a story we've already seen just blows my mind.
I didn't love the first one, but this one gripped me to the core and I fucking loved it. I can totally see why others didn't enjoy it, but it really worked for me. Lucky me, I guess :P
So if you could further clarify, what was it that really worked for you and made you like it? No sarcasm; I'm genuinely curious. I was just mildly entertained by the first Fantastic Beasts, but liked the idea/concept of this second movie, but wasn't sure if it'd be properly realized.
@@darkwyve Sure! From a pure technical standpoint I think this film looks and sounds gorgeous, and the camerawork is wonderful for the most part. I agree that there are too many characters and subplots, but with a few exceptions I loved these characters and was genuinely invested in the plots. I think Grindelwald is a much more intriguing and sympathetic villain than Voldemort could ever dream to be, and all the roles feel perfectly cast to me.
@@Norway604 That actually sounds like a lot of solid reasons to like the movie, and I really enjoy a good and complex villain, so I might very well like this one better than the first, despite the characters/subplot issues. I'm a writer and tend to have a lot of characters in my books and like to tie those threads together over time, so it might not really bother me that much either, especially knowing they'll obviously have a third movie that'll likely tie up some of those subplots that might not have gone anywhere in this movie. I like long running series; whether they be books, movies, or shows and don't need everything resolved with a happy bow at the end of a setting of watching/reading something. I mean life's not that simple and clean cut, so I don't understand why a story (written or visual) needs to be, as long as the story itself was entertaining and interesting while watching/reading it. Anyway, thanks a lot for the detailed reply!
@@darkwyve Now there's the thing, I'm 100% certain that these films would be far superior as books. The structure and plethora of characters of this film belong in an 800-page book, not a 2 hour movie. That doesn't make the characters any worse as characters, but it's obvious that Rowling hasn't nailed the transition between mediums
The focus thing you mentioned is a problem but I think more than anything it lacks love. As cheesy as it sounds I think the charm of the HP books comes from the fact that JK had so much affection for the characters she was building. She had a story with a destination and she felt like she had to give each of the characters their due. This Fantastic beasts stuff just seems so hollow and cash grabby like you said. I just think she's gone past the point of caring and now she's pumping out everything she can to just "build the universe".
@@1997residente I think the Fantastic Beasts movies will make their money, the Harry Potter fan base is huge, I think they already budgeted for 5 films
Yeah the last 30mins was the best part of this. Anything Jude law as Albus D. At Hogwarts was very interesting. Eddie R as Newt was good. Johnny D. I did not like the performance until his speech on taking over non magics. The supporting cast just felt too minor to illicit sympathy. And Corvus’ arc was interesting. I hope the 3rd installment brings it home.
well the wizarding community should feel proud about themselves now..they stopped grindelwald..world war 2 did happen..muggles did get killed . whose the bad guy now
... Sigh.... , Harry Potter and the Wizarding world concluded when I read the last chapter of the last book. Everything Jk adds, retcons, plays, movies mean nothing to me 😔.
Royal D. You’re better off for it. Characters acted completely out of character. A “climactic” moment that ruined a major part of the HP lore. A flat villain. It honestly read like fan fiction and not even good fan fiction.
Eh, I enjoyed it but I can see where you, and others, are coming from. It's not one of my favorite movies of the franchise but it's not the worst either. That being said, I think no one will disagree on how weak and inconsistent the overall plot is. I really do hope that this movie was meant to be a foundation of Grindelwald's campaign and that going forward we'll get to see an actual coherent storyline with more intriguing characters aside from Dumbledore and Grindelwald. I'm not hugely disappointed but definitely not blown away either.
I was fine with the first movie, i liked it but didn't love it. But since the trailers for this one dropped i was not interested. It felt like a big reference to Harry Potter and not its own thing. "Oh look, young Dumbledore! Nicolas Flamel! Nagini!". Why using the "Fantastic Beasts" name if you'll obviously not gonna use them in any of the sequels beside the first one? You want to tell a story based the rise of Grindelwald and the big battle with him, something that has nothing to do with Newt or his beasts. Oh, and i read the spoiler. How the fuck can you introduce a BIG character like that without even mentioning him in the original 7 books-8 movies series? Well because he never existed until this point...
I know, right... When I watched the movie I feel like I skip a movie before this one, cause who are all of these guys??they didn't appear in 1st movie, and the movie suddenly told me that these guys are crucial to the story where Newt was just....there And where are the fantastic beasts??they should just change the title
i still believe newt belongs in his own fantastic beasts spinoff movie..very standalone fun whimsical adventures..where newt and friends are hunting down dragon egg smugglers in egypt or poachers in new zealand etc. then occassionally he pops up in the grindelwald storyline to assist dumbeldore as a side character. keep the fantastic beasts and rise of grindelwad storylines sepreate from each other.
and talking about the spoiler character... it is mentioned you will be remembered in history...apparently not cuz the future generation never remember or mentions that Character
@@ankitdas6620 Exactly. Fantastic Beast should have been a stand alone movie (or even a series in the style of a documentary, that would have been interesting to see). But it has nothing to do with Grindelwald, that's a completely different story
The film was terrible. Just walking and talking for 95% of the movie. Oh, you think Johnny Dep is the main villain and will have badass villain moments? Think again. You think dumbledore will finally handle his own business? Nope, just like Harry, Newt did his quests for him. You think there's going to be a badass fight scene at the end? Mayb the next movie. One more thing, so many useless characters in this film wasting screen time for things the audience doesn't need to see. Going by the film Newt is the most powerful wizard cause he has his Pokemon's to save the day... Every... single... time. 4/10 for the magic, special effects and nostalgic music.
Fikri Alfathan you still going? I bought my tickets after carefully weighing this review against my HP-obsessed friend’s dire NEED to see all things Harry Potter 🙄⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Sequel names suck these days. Even though we're in the age of the internet where literally anybody can Google for themselves the answer that 'yes this is a sequel', we still get "Franchise: The Subtitle" because producers think their audiences are stoopid. The Dirty Harry movies didn't title themselves as "Dirty Harry 2" or "Dirty Harry: The Subtitle". It was always something different AND cool: Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact, The Dead Pool.
Leto Atreides II, God Emperor of Dune even without sequels being numbered people get confused as to what order the films are in so no I would not trust audiences to know that a film is a sequel also only stans follow a movies production so obsessively that they’d know it was a sequel most passive fans wouldn’t have any idea
It is all part of the cash grab. When peope see that there is a new Fantastic Beasts film coming out, they will be like cool, a new Harry Potter film and will be more likely to see it. They are sort of cashing in on the success of the first one by using its name. If it was called something else, there will be more people who are casual fans who will be less interested in seeing it. They will associate it with something else hence, less profit for the filmakers. I guess it is mostly about money these days but not in all cases.
Because having wildly different names is not good way to organize your movies. The title should usually tell me what franchise it is supposed to be. I should not need to google a movie name just to tell me if that is actually part of a particular series. That was the issue with the rambo series or even rocky. After a while they just used a different naming scheme for their movies and just confused people. A number and subtitle is just a nice and simple way to organize the movie, no matter how stupid some of the subtitle might be.
How is it any better? What's the difference between The Dead Pool and Dirty Harry: The Dead Pool besides the fact that the latter title tells me it's actually a part of the series and not a marvel movie?
I really enjoyed this review. Usually when a person reviews a movie/show they are a fan of, they come off as incredibly biased, but you made it more objective than it usually would, and your knowledge of the Harry Potter franchise helped you go in depth with your review. I think this is the best review you ever made.
As someone that watched it, he did not. He missed a lot of plot points in my opinion and seems to be glossing over things Harry Potter fans would pay attention to
Finally s reviewer who thought depp as grindelwald was good. I thought he was fantastic. I just don’t care for Newt. Harry just set the bar dam too high to like another wizard. Drop the fantastic beasts name from sequels and continue the origins of the Harry Potter world.
I agree with almost all your points, but I think the movie really only appeals to fans, only people who really know their Harry Potter stuff can really find it cool to spot the easter eggs and understand certain character nuances. Someone who's a casual on Harry Potter will see this movie and find themselves terribly lost. Also "feeling the magic" that's something you feel until the Prisoner of Askaban, from Goblet of Fire onwards that stops being the focus, at least in the movies. The Beasts on the other hand are the true magic in these two prequels, they actually remember me more about true magic than any other thing, this movie wouldn't be enjoyable without that aspect. They'll have to really plan the next movie right because they can't keep throwing the beasts in there for the sake of it, they'll have to serve a purpose.
I almost doozed off at the «magical beasts parts». I came for Grindelwald. Enjoyed the scenes at Hogwarts and the scenes with Dumbledore or Grindelwald.
@@gabiruman Batman vs Superman was a learning curve. It was full of references and eggs only DC comic books fans understood. References and Easter eggs are suppose to help build the plot and make sense within the context story otherwise its just random nonsense to the general Audience especially since there are no fantastic Beast novels you can read.
@@nyikomaswanganyi5983 But that's exactly my point! General audience will not easily spot the references, it's not only the references, it's the subplot with Dumbledore, Nagini etc... That doesn't say anything to a lot people, they'll just be like "Oh Ok then..." Also do you really think the movie needs a lot to make money? It's the god damned Harry Potter universe, it was successful before it even came out.
Can your please use the contracted form of "Should + to have"? Do you think it would be something like "should'f"? No? Then why do you use "should of" instead of "should have"?
Honestly i loved and enjoyed the movie!! Sure the movie had too many plots and tried to do too much all in one movie... but it did alot of world building and connected us the Harry Potter world with alot of Easter Eggs, Johnny Depp KILLED it as Grindelwald and was sooo badass!! The twist with Credence was amazing!! SO wasn't expecting that!!! The tension btwn Newt and Tina was super cute and entertaining to watch!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE CLAUDIA KIM!! She is SOOOOO beautiful and i lowkey had a HUGE smile on my face with ALL of her scenes!! kinda sucks she didnt really do much in the movie... hope they give her a bigger role in the future movies!! Overall action was engaging and visual effects were on point, directing and cinematography was amazing!! 7.5+/10 from me!!
I ve seen the movie two days ago I liked it Queenie.Dumbledore,Leta and Grindelwald were the best part Especially Grindelwald But its bloated, and some parts are not needed It should have been trimmed down a bit Honestly something was a bit off..cant explain it....and this is coming from a huge HP fan
Optimus you thought that Queenie and Leta were one of the best parts? I honestly didn’t. Queenie’s character makes no sense. She loves Jacob and should care about his safety but keeps him at the rally. That’s like keeping a Jew at a Nazi rally. And how does she think that Grindelwald is what they want when he wants the subjugation of muggles. How was she so easily manipulated by obvious lies. And Leta’s backstory regarding her brother is just stupid. She just wanted to be free of him yet didn’t tell the parents that she did that even when they were leaving.
I was actually hurting watching this...I've always been a huge Harry Potter fan and to hear that they made a movie that isn't at least good is so insanely disappointing, I think I'll just go see Bohemian Rhapsody again or even better wait for Creed II
@@MajinLordVegeta waiting for reviews and then making a decision on wether or not to go spend your money on something isn't "letting someone else dictate what you watch". Its smart comsumerism, its listening to opinions and making a decision based on them instead of spending money on something you don't think you'll like.
I felt pretty much the same. I thought the first fantastic beasts felt like an introduction to the new story and I was excited for the real story to begin now, but now the second one also felt like another introduction. I hope these movies won’t continue to just make me interested in the next one, without actually being relevant themselves.
I was so mad that apparently, Nagini is a person?? Voldemort would never have cared about/ shown affection to a human. That's the whole point of his character...
Nico Leu Nope, Voldemort was attached to the snake before it was a horcrux. He turned it into a Horcrux with the death of the muggle at the beginning of goblet of fire.
You can say a lot of things about this movie. But on an artistic level I don't think cashgrab is it. It is definitely very inspired by Rowling and clearly a story she needs to tell. And as a production these films have never looked better. The problem is Rowling has no idea what "kill your darlings" means. It seems she got super inspired and came up with 18 ideas for things that could be in this movie. And then put all of them in it. Which is fine when you are writing a 600+ page book. But a screenplay should be kept under 120 pages to be able to work as a 2-2.5 hour movie. I don't believe this script can have been a sentence shorter than 180. This movie could have been rad. But as is it is borderline unwatchable at a Batman V Superman theatrical cut level. Maybe they'll release an 3.5 hour extended cut and I'll gladly watch that. But for the next one Rowling needs to bring in a real screenwriter to edit her ideas down to something that is paced for the screen. You say you don't like the big exposition scene. But that is very classic Rowling. She always does that in every one of her works. There is some mystery and at the beginning and end of the third act there are loooong scenes og exposition with all the answers to the mystery that was set up before. It works in books, and in a movie it is at best confucing and at worst you instantly check out.
@Discount Xiumin It is so many ideas executing all of them properly is literally impossible in a feature. Somehow the series that is not based on books ended up with more important characters...
Oh god, I agree so hard. The editing and pace was so strange, you can tell JK really does need 600+ pages to tell her story. This movie leaves one thinking “oh I bet if I read the book it’ll make a lot more sense.”, except of course - there is no book! The mysteries and twists are not fun, as they should be - to me they were just frustrating and mostly unsatisfying. She needs editors to clean up her screenwriting, big time.
I loved the movie. I hear that there's no story, that it's just Grindlewald is setting it up. But that is the plot! This movie was about the rise of this new dark cult, with our pals experiencing it first hand. I'm interested about the nagini story line and I think credence is the Rey of the series that we want to know more of. You didn't feel magic, but I did. Like during Newts house, that weird gold magic search scene, and the graveyard sequence reminded me why I love magic. I agree about it being convoluted, and I do think this film will be the most forgettable of the 5, but it's the beginning of something epic, I can feel it.
I envy the fans who still like these movies because, the further I think about it, the more I dislike it. You say that you don't mind that the plot of this movie was Grindelwald setting it up. I think this movie was not necessary at all, they extended a five minute scene into a 2 hr film. I agree this movie will be the most forgettable out of the 5 because they could have absorbed it between the other two.
On the contrary, I truly loved the movie, which is full of many plot twists and serves as a bridge between its future instalments. There are many revelations that must be made and many unanswered questions that need to be answered, which I am sure JKR will address at her own pace being the perfect story teller she is. I have full faith on her and her thinking abilities, which by far is way ahead of most of us Potterheads. Yes, there were a few screenplay mistakes here and there, but I could gladly let them go as the story, performances, twists and complexities alone made up for those for me. One thing that people need to understand is that it’s not a Harry Potter story at all. It’s an expansion of the universe that JKR created, and is much more darker and complex than a story that’s set in a school. We don’t have a book to refer to, which makes it even more difficult to make sense of. But Comparing it to a lose fan fiction is an insult to Rowling’s abilities who, as we have seen, always has legit answers and explanations for almost every twist she introduces. I remember people having mixed opinions about the Harry Potter movies when they first started with the franchise. It’s only after the third movie that people actually started taking them seriously. Like with all Rowling creations, I believe we just need to give the story some time and have some faith on the woman that started it all for us at the first place. Al lose ends will be tied up and all randoms dots will keep getting connected as the story and movie progresses. JKR is a great novelist, and she writes extremely detailed and well explained stories. But may be a good screenplay writer should come on board to help her keep track of all this immense amount of information, so that we don’t have to see an ‘unknown’ McGonagall stuck in a wrong time period.
@@diyabhattacharya6911 I agree. So many "Potter" fans say they've been disappointed with not just this movie, but the idea of the series as a whole, but how could a true fan lose trust in Rowling so easily? She has this incredible story share and we've barely seen the surface of it. I'm so excited for the next movies. If this movie was as intense and crazy as it is, it definitely sets the stage for the next ones to up that level of intensity, and I can't wait!

I agree totally with your point about Nagini. She could have been an interesting character with her links to Credence but it felt like the fact she was Nagini was tacked on as an afterthought so JKR didn't have to write a decent character arc
I Saw it in Tuesday and I thought it was amazing better then the first definitely gonna see it again. And I honestly thought this movie was a bit more enchanting. But hey that’s just my opinion
All my friends and I enjoyed it too. I don't get how people didn't follow the movie because it made sense to us. We are going to watch it again because it was amazing!
I feel the same way, I did like it. I also believe that we will actually appreciate and love the movies once we have all of them. So, probably in 6 years, everyone will start adoring it all.
It sucks that you felt that way watching the movie. And we all love the Potter universe which inherently makes us expect greatness every time there's a new movie coming out. Still can't wait to see it though. 🙂
If really just like them to make a quiditch movie. Just do remember the Titans but with quidditch. Instead of black people have mud bloods, heck that can be the team / movie name in the end.
There is three plots in this movie. Credence’s search for his identity, leta lestrange’s story about how she killed Corvus and grindelwald trying to gain followers. In my opinion the should have cut Credence’s identity plot and 3 quarters of Grindelwald’s plot cause his ties up leta’s plot.
I hate everything, but I liked this movie. Johnny Depp was fantastic and Grindelwald is a really interesting character that actually has a fairly 'good' reason for what he's doing. I liked the complexity of his character. Film definitely didn't have enough beasts or Newt in it though, that's for sure. Also that whole scene where Leta Lestrange switches the babies around was the most retarded plot device ever! They must develop on that in the next film because it just made absolutely no sense. The baby was slightly annoying so she put the baby in another room and then didn't tell everyone when they mixed the babies up?! That part was really terrible and just made her look like an idiot. One thing I can say for sure though, is that this 'reboot' of the HP franchise has already been infinitely better than what Disney did to Star Wars.
Jacob remembered because if you "listened" in the first movie Newt says that the the rain cause by the bird removed bad memories and not all of Jacobs memories to do with magic we're bad. AND THEY LITERALLY SAYS THIS IN THE SECOND MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also if you "listening" again they said that Nigani would eventually not be able to transform back.
I think what you said is important. We still HAVE the Harry Potter movies. Even though these mediocre films exist, they DON'T take away from the magic of the original series.
Fantastic beasts so far has been setting up for alot in the next 3 movies. Yet, what people forget is that comparing them to Harry potter is really hard. Harry potter movies/books are mysterious wrapped in fantasy fiction. With an admitted very narrow story, if we compare the two is it not fair to say anything. One is a series where a kid defeats a big baddy causing a civil war with the power of love and a minimum of three spells. Also comparing the "two" villains is also a fallacy. One caused a civil war with little to no success beside ONLY making one country afraid of him. While grindawald made countries bend the knee and the world afraid. The main hero's of this are also very much adults. With different outlooks of what can and should be in the world. Grindawald destroyed the world while Voldemort came to pick up the extremes that occur after the dust has settled.
Gabriel Kainer A anthologyseries of different stories in the Harry Potter universe would be better, because it would show more in the Harry Potter universe and make it feel like a bigger world than a movie prequel series of five movies nobody asked for

darklighter66 Agreed, Fantastic Beasts should have just been one movie and then a prequel trilogy about Dumbledore instead of Newt being the main character for five movies, at least a prequel movie trilogy about a younger Dumbledore would be more interesting because we actually care about the character and can see more to his side of the story as the main character instead of him being a character to help out the other main protagonist and be a side character compared to the other characters

He DEFINITELY missed out on things I think Harry Potter fans would pick up on
@Copy-striked Guy no its not worse first fantastic beasts is
I did watch it at the pre-screening.

Expecting disappointment from hollywood these days it a legitimate thing these days, since it happens so often. Having that expected disappointment confirmed by a review is just a consequence, not a result of bias. So many sequels are simply an attempt to milk more money from a franchise, don't hate just because people see it coming.

@@angellocastro9448 Yes, we can't expect the same level that the Harry Potter put out but some fans actually prefer Fantastic Beasts over Harry Potter because the first movie was amazing and it posted such a high level of screenplay, acting, setting etc., I think most people expected the story to go in it's natural direction, what this movie did was a mess, it made me more confused than satisfied with the whole movie experience, but kudos to Johny Depp for the amazing acting. harry potter chamber of secrets .. slowly following the sequels with voldemorts younger days as a slytherin student and how he wanted to find out abt the secret chamber to later becoming the dark lord!
I got a boner just thinking of this
That would be pretty cool, way better than this. Also all of the Easter eggs would be a lot more relevant to the plot and make more sense.
These two movies are waste. you got 10 films coming in the next 20 years at least, and this flop is just the start
Movie sucked. Mechanically it had weird transition scenes. The humor was lame and predictable. So many random “important “ people. The story line was choppy.
This movie will now forever be known as "Fantastic Cash Grab: The Grime of Grumblewad"
Yep.
Or…
It won’t even be known at all because people would only remember Fantastic Beasts (and Where to Find Them) as a standalone movie.
You are asking for the same shit this movie had: easter eggs and cheap fan service.
Exactly. Thank you for saying that.
Yeah the last scene of the first movie even shows him getting a standard Hollywood memory return scene. I'm glad they just went right into him having them all back in this movie and not waste another sideplot on it.
Jasper van Heycop exactly! I thought they ended the first movie perfectly hinting that he was going to remember right away
Can we also talk about how this movie has the worst and most awkward title ever. It has literally no flow to it.
Not even the damn radio hosts giving out tickets could say the name
You have to remember it's part of the Fantastic Beasts franchise like Harry Potter is a franchise but I do see your point about calling it Wizarding World. However as its a direct sequel to the original Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie then it has to take on the Fantastic Beasts prefix
I think they should let someone other than David Yates direct a Fantastic Beasts film.
When I saw his name at the end I immediately understood why this movie was so slow
MVCreviews Agreed
@@WaynePhilmore But he directed The prisoner of Azkaban and it was the best Harry Potter movie ever.
@@9yearoldepicgamersoldier129 No, Alfonso Cuarón directed PoA.
The directing isn't the problem though. Rowling just isn't great at filmscripts.
Haunting of hill house Netflix original series review please Jeremy!! Everyone like this comment so Jeremy can see this!
I'm supporting this comment. :D
He never reviewed punisher so he probably won't do hill house. I also don't get the hype for that show.
Big K have you even watched the whole show? It’s amazing, not just for a horror show but for any show in general.
Big K tell me what you would consider a great/really good show.
same, waiting for that review
Just give us a cameo with Tom Riddle, Rowling. Or a movie about him.
Yes, please.
Or a Marauders movie, which is what people actually wanted...and Tom, too, of course.
Tom wasn't born yet in the first movie, with the 2nd movie. Hes only a few months old. The 5th movie is in 1945, when Tom leaves Hogwarts wait till the other movies
JK Rowling is gonna make Grindelwald be Tom Riddles dad
Tbh im scared if they do a movie abt Tom ;-; they mught totally fck up wat made Tom,tom(?) like adding a love interest to him n stuff like that... :/
I just want to see Jude Law kill it as Dumbledore.
Well you will definitely get that
Prepare to be disappointed. Their is a lack of him doing anything of note in this movie besides confirming his . . .ummm ... sexuality.
Oh NO! I said my Opinion!?! Dumbledore is the man who will eventually defeat Grindelwald.
And I loved the sweet moment between Tina and Newt, and the niffler saving the day (my friend next to me said “good boy”)
Also I liked how they actually gave the whole “Dumbledore loved Grindelwald” thing more substance with the mirror scene.
The movie is far from perfect, but I totally agree. I absolutely adored the film and I can’t wait to see the next one!
Brett Merritt I agree! I loved it!
"Fantastic Cash Grab: the Grime of Grundlewad" IM SCREAMING 😂
I know right also question
The CCR joke cracked me up
Should've made whole series focused on Dumbledore. Who cares about some Newt Scamander and bunch of muggles?
You muggle racist!
Nagini being human= connection to The Force being Midichlorians 😹😹😹
how is that the same? the force isn't midiclorians though
In a parallel line of thinking, JK Rowling’s recent narrative shift that Nagini is a human rather than a non-human snake can fundamentally alter the audience/reader’s perception not only of Nagini herself, but also of Voldemort’s unique relationship with her, etc, even her Coup-De-Grace performed so heroically by Neville Longbottom takes on an entirely new effect here 😬😬😬
That kinda hurt to hear,
Taking my Wife & Father tonight
😳
@@JediBunny Maybe it's been a while, but I feel like you could make an argument that midi-chlorians are an indicator of force sensitivity, not force sensitivity itself. Like, the Force itself has an effect on the human body. I could be grasping though, and again... it's been a while.
Hahahah are people that stupid? Midichlorians aren't the force. They're only a measurement of how force sensitive someone is.
I haven't watched the movie yet, but just the idea of Nagini being a human makes me scared of this prequels ruining the lore just like "HP The cursed child" did, and that makes me afraid just to watch them..
Nagini isn't really a human by that point. She has a blood curse which means she will eventually change into a snake
Yeah They're pulling a George Lucas move on Harry potter too ..
it was always hinted that she was human. mostly in goblet of fire where hp dreams of events that happen with vold talking to the snake more as a companion then a pet/ henchmen.
N O S T A L G I A
Yeah, that's why i am glad the upcoming Harry Potter game drops the name Harry Potter completely.
I didn't love the first one, but this one gripped me to the core and I fucking loved it. I can totally see why others didn't enjoy it, but it really worked for me. Lucky me, I guess :P
Nordfjord that’s optimistic
The first movie was actually goid and felt as if it was made with attention and love but 2nd was just chopped and pushed in the world
Does JK even have any influence on these movies? I think she's just a producer which equals "Look at this person's name" in movie language.
@Adrijana Radosevic Oh. Did not know that. Yeah no, that explains everything.
Sad...i really liked the first movie. If It gets sequels,I Hope It gets the mission impossible treatment.

Yes I agree. I enjoyed it more than the actual Harry potter films. It displayed better magic and the evil was more threatening to a wider community.
Grindlewalds motivations(stopping world war 2 before it happens) really makes the protagonists deeply unlikable for opposing him
But we can understand that it is not the only goal of Grindelwald. He tries to rule muggles or kill them. That makes him bad
@@vishwanathh5029 it isnt that...it is that the wizarding world knew about world war 2 and did nothing to stop it. That is why it is unlikable

It was to show his charisma and wow did it make you think. However it was just smoke and mirrors trading one evil for another.
Cool motive, still murder

@Royal D. I actually enjoyed it while I was reading it but the more I thought about it afterward the more it sucked.
@Royal D. that was a fan story.
The cursed child is the worst fan fiction ever. To know it's "canon" is an insult to the HP legacy
how dare u exclude the magic that is a very potter musical
When I watched the movie I feel like I skip a movie before this one, cause who are all of these guys??they didn't appear in 1st movie, and the movie suddenly told me that these guys are crucial to the story where Newt was just....there
And where are the fantastic beasts??they should just change the title
i still believe newt belongs in his own fantastic beasts spinoff movie..very standalone fun whimsical adventures..where newt and friends are hunting down dragon egg smugglers in egypt or poachers in new zealand etc. then occassionally he pops up in the grindelwald storyline to assist dumbeldore as a side character. keep the fantastic beasts and rise of grindelwad storylines sepreate from each other.
and talking about the spoiler character... it is mentioned you will be remembered in history...apparently not cuz the future generation never remember or mentions that Character

What's the difference between The Dead Pool and Dirty Harry: The Dead Pool besides the fact that the latter title tells me it's actually a part of the series and not a marvel movie?
true. reminds me of "man with no name" spaghetti westerns with Clint.
I really enjoyed this review. Usually when a person reviews a movie/show they are a fan of, they come off as incredibly biased, but you made it more objective than it usually would, and your knowledge of the Harry Potter franchise helped you go in depth with your review.

They didn't make the movie for fans but the general audience. The fan bases aren't enough to help movies gross over a billion dollars.
I disagree. The general audience will feel lost within plots and references.

@@nyikomaswanganyi5983 But that's exactly my point! General audience will not easily spot the references, it's not only the references, it's the subplot with Dumbledore, Nagini etc... That doesn't say anything to a lot people, they'll just be like "Oh Ok then..."
Also do you really think the movie needs a lot to make money? It's the god damned Harry Potter universe, it was successful before it even came out.

I thought the first fantastic beasts felt like an introduction to the new story and I was excited for the real story to begin now, but now the second one also felt like another introduction. I hope these movies won’t continue to just make me interested in the next one, without actually being relevant themselves.
I agree with everything you said.
I sat in the theatre like... what is going on?!?!?
That Credence Clearwater revival reference lol
I was lost but i loved jonny depp performance
@@holliswoods did you guys also like the now fucked up canon with minerva mcgonagall being in hogwarts before 1927 when she was born on 1935 ? what about dumbledore teaching DADA not just as a replacement for merrythought ? what about the ultimate plot twist with credence and his real descent ? did u also like that ? oh and these are still details on the potter universe...did u guys like the fantastic beasts of this movie ? oh wait there were only 3 or 4 new....we just saw a kelpie swimming for 1 minute and a zouwu which was really nice, also an augurey for 5 seconds....why is the "fantastic beasts" still in the title ? will the third movie even have a magical creature ? what about the fifth ? but enough with the beasts....what about the whole blood pact bullshit ? thats a lazy excuse on rowling's part...albus couldnt move against gellert CUZ HE FUCKING LOVED HIM....and thats some "magic" gone from the original story. Honestly guys i m a hardcore potter fun and this universe is my favorite fictional universe among others (Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, George Lucas etc.) and it's REALLY SAD to see rowling being greedy and ruin it. I could go on about the movie and the plot, and the rush, and the overstuffing but i wont. Honestly i know this is my opinion but i was legit sad on my way home
Spot on Jeremy. I was bored and felt no connection to the characters. What a mess.
Depp and Nagini were without a doubt the best parts of this movie!
Wish Nagini had a bigger part though.
Leta Lestrange part with the baby was sooooooooooo forced for plot convenience and cringy to an extent that I was like WTF!?! When you watch the movie you will know what i mean
I had no idea what was even going on. It just felt forced.
Seen it five times, i still don't know what you mean.
my mother hates all things harry potter, and even she liked the leta storyline
This review could literally be applied to the first movie with a few minor changes
This review could literally be applied to *Star Wars™ - Rogue One* with a few minor changes.
"People vomiting exposition" "The characters were hollow" "They're just trying to fill in time" "If just Easter eggs are enough for you you'll have a good time"
Yep, seems about right.
@@LedPESRule am I the only one who doesn't give a rats ass about Darth Vader, he shows up for 2 freaking minutes and does absolute crap, even in the original trilogy he....... Showed up for a few minutes and did crap. If they are going to make a prequel movie, I want them to make one where Darth Vader does cool shit
@@LedPESRule Rogue One? You have a particular gripe with Rogue One? What about The Last Jedi? Possibly the most offensive, nonsensical, incoherent shite ever puked onto the silver screen? In comparison to what Rian Johnson did to Star Wars, Rogue One was, at the very least, bearable.
@@AlwaysRetr0 I liked Rogue One, thought it was better than bearable. I liked it even more after the Last Jedi came out and was complete shit. I was like "Compared to this, Rogue One is so much better."
@@AlwaysRetr0 Eh, The Last Jedi is a movie at least, there are some themes and shit happens, even though it's mostly shitty.
Plus, everybody hates on it anyways, whereas people seem to like Rogue One which isn't even a movie really, it's just a hollow shell filled to the brim with fan-service. The fact that the Vader scene that everybody loves is just as utterly pointless as the rest of the movie just goes to show that.
I agree totally with your point about Nagini. She could have been an interesting character with her links to Credence but it felt like the fact she was Nagini was tacked on as an afterthought so JKR didn't have to write a decent character arc
I for one really love Newt Schmander's character and really love this series
You’re the reason why they pump out half made movies. They know suckers will buy this stuff instead of demanding quality movies :/

Yeah, the reviewer must be on opioids or something. Movie was awesome !!
I don’t know, I liked the movie. Loved it, actually
Matthew Nash Agreed, the middle wasn’t particularly interesting. But everything else was amazing
I feel the same way, I did like it. I also believe that we will actually appreciate and love the movies once we have all of them. So, probably in 6 years, everyone will start adoring it all.
good on ya!
*clicks on video*
“I wonder what Jeremy is gonna day about the movie”
*watches first 15 seconds*
“That bad, huh?”
It sucks that you felt that way watching the movie. And we all love the Potter universe which inherently makes us expect greatness every time there's a new movie coming out. Still can't wait to see it though. 🙂
Vladimir Petroski This movie is boring just dont watch it.
@@deathgaming7408 I can't wait for 3 whole months for it to come out on Blu-ray, I'd rather get it out of the way now
If really just like them to make a quiditch movie. Just do remember the Titans but with quidditch. Instead of black people have mud bloods, heck that can be the team / movie name in the end.
This movie made me sleep the first part was so much better am from bahrain by the way love your reviews keep it up ❤️️❤️️🌹
There is three plots in this movie. Credence’s search for his identity, leta lestrange’s story about how she killed Corvus and grindelwald trying to gain followers. In my opinion the should have cut Credence’s identity plot and 3 quarters of Grindelwald’s plot cause his ties up leta’s plot.
Man I love the cake on the icing metaphor, that's life in a piping bag right there.
Grindelwald is looking for Credence for some Clearwater Revival 😂😂😂
I wasnt expecting much and I had fun with it
I hate everything, but I liked this movie.
So if a crying baby was in your room when you were trying to sleep you wouldnt move it?
Jacob remembered because if you "listened" in the first movie Newt says that the the rain cause by the bird removed bad memories and not all of Jacobs memories to do with magic we're bad. AND THEY LITERALLY SAYS THIS IN THE SECOND MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also if you "listening" again they said that Nigani would eventually not be able to transform back.
I really find your honesty refreshing. First video I've watched of yours. Subscribed. 🤣
I think what you said is important. We still HAVE the Harry Potter movies. Even though these mediocre films exist, they DON'T take away from the magic of the original series.
They just pile on shit on a good cake. All the "easter eggs" that just piss all over esatblished canon. That is what I hate most about this movie
@@DarkAkaike ohhh nooo that's the worst.
I just want a Quidditch Through the Ages movie. Or a movie about Lily and James Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as Voldemort is rising to power.
Gabriel Kainer A anthologyseries of different stories in the Harry Potter universe would be better, because it would show more in the Harry Potter universe and make it feel like a bigger world than a movie prequel series of five movies nobody asked for
@@emilykruger2844 I think an anthology series of Quidditch Through the Ages would be cool on Netflix or something.
