there is no similarity between them. Bhansali is an art director, Rajamouli is a mass director.

@@thestoryteller_z aesthetics are also different. Just the grandeur part is common, but the way of presenting grandeur is different. Rajamouli like things big, grand, jostling; SLB goes for more landscape and clean frames. Watch Bahubali and Padmavat, there is a stark difference of aesthetic...

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is amongst one of those people from non Hindi region artist of Hindi cinema like the people of Punjabi nepotim, who have heavily exploited our UP/Ganga valley region culture in his movies, he used all our history, culture, languages, arts: Hindi Urdu Awadhi etc, Kathak Hindustani music, our Ancient and Medieval history, copy of our old directors like K Asif and Kamal Amrohi. And he uses our culture to take it from us and add it to other regions to elevate there cultures in his movies. And also taking our space in our own language cinema.

That said this appropriation bs is extremely overrated at this point… India’s art and culture is not always restricted to regions.. kathak itself has several gharanas. Sadly your present directors ( *from UP- Bihar) fail to live upto the glory of whatever yester year glory you mentioned to promote culture.. does not mean you let it die.. if anyone can glorify or romanticise the art I think SLB is your best bet.

Bro!! Chill gangubai was popular too in America when it released in usa ,Rrr had more impact tho... I know that and yes it should be Indian cinema..
Gangubai was one of the films selected in the official Oscars reminder list. It was in top 10 in several countries too.. and in terms of global viewership of the two Indian films- #1 RRR with 72 Mn viewing hours followed by #2 50.6 Mn of Gangubai (and that’s without the global hype)
RRR was hyped and I am happy for it too as a lover of Indian films but I am not gonna downgrade other films for it
Also Telugu movies, Hindi movies, Bengali movies are ALL INDIAN CINEMA :)
P.s. in order to qualify for the list you have to screen the movie in US theatres for at least a week.. and not just nominate yourself. I am aware of the terms so please refrain from calling someone an “idiot” just because you cannot put forth reasonable points

So excited to watch Heeramandi, especially excited for Manisha Koirala. She working with SLB after such a long time and this was perfect for her. She was his first heroine and now acting in his dream project 25 years later. It couldn't be better than this.

but women-centric films have, anyway paved its path since 2010 onwards. Vidya Balan's TDP & Kahaani made a lot of money. Which gave courage to producers to invest in films like English Vinglish, Highway, Queen, Tanu weds Manu, Dear Zindgi, Piku, Neerja, Bareily ki Barfi, Tumhari Sulu, Mardaani, Raazi, and many more. Gangubai wasn't the first so called women centric film to make it big. the market is already there. Why would smbdy ask u not to make it?
