    Thank you for that simple explanation, the wall really helps with the head back, still struggling with getting hips forward.

    Such a critical move and impact position. Has really improved my driving. Seems counterintuitive because people are always trying to shift onto the lead side and get through and inevitably take their head with them. Don’t do it lol. Do what Eric says!!

    Excellent stuff! I find that if my head doesn't stay back, I push, and if my hip doesn't move forward, I pull. When both of them are in proper positions, it's a straight hit!

      This looks like what used to be referred to as the “ reverse C”! I always hit my best shots when I FELT like I was falling back! THAT probably wasn’t really happening but my HEAD staying back made it FEEL that way! Biggest problem is getting HIPS to move forward while HOLDING the head BACK!?

    Great video! This helps a lot when looking face-on the golfer. What about when looking from behind the golfer, on the downswing, should the head move slightly towards ball, slightly back away from ball, or stay relatively neutral?

    • @CogornoGolf

      Neutral

    Great video! Would you use the wall exercise for an iron swing and keeping your head back when left arm is at parallel during the downswing?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 года назад +1

      Hey Ron!
      Yes that can work if you go too far forward.
      Typically you would see a slight down and forward movement of the head with an iron from top of backswing to left arm parallel in downswing and then a staying there.
      Here is more on the iron aspect:

    I was on this last night watching slow motion swings. Watch with driver iron and wedge. They don’t look at the ball. They find a spot with driver about 3-4 inches or so behind the ball and fixate their attention and head on that spot. They don’t look up until the ball is launched. Amateur golfers are fixated on the ball and as soon as we hit it we are looking up. Irons they’re a little more over the ball maybe an inch ahead, and wedges they’re about 2-3 inches ahead. I think it’s to get a full swing. They’re focused on their spot and swinging the club. They’re never fixated on the ball ever

      I know this was 7 months ago, but I really appreciate your input on where we should fixate our attention when hitting the ball. This is really great advice!

    Great video Eric. I feel like this is where I really struggle in my golf swing. Question - can you also start your swing maybe 6 inches from the ball while still maintaining the tilt? Thanks!

    • @CogornoGolf

      You can if that works for you.....but I would be careful not to over do it from there

    Go out and chop some wood. Notice how you stay behind the tree (ball) and you clear your hips when you deliver the axe to the side of the tree. That is the golf swing. Hold the axe in a split hand set up, as you normally would. Toss the axe up into the air (back swing). Notice how you raise up and your shoulders and back turn away from the tree? Then, when you deliver the axe into the side of the tree, notice how you go down (squat) to clear your hips out of the way so that you can deliver the axe to the side of the tree and how your head naturally stays back without thinking about it!! That, in essence, is the golf swing. Don't believe me?? Go out and try it!!
