Little Tokyo could really use an AYCE buffet again. Until 8 years ago, there was a place in the Village called "Oiwake" and it was like $8 for lunch only.
I go to the one in Costa Mesa on a weekly basis. The croquettes, mini okonomiyaki and takoyaki are my favorite things there, as well as the tray of salmon sushi. All their stuff is great.
A few yrs ago when we travel out west we find H-Mart Asian grocery stores and other ethnic international food stores for fresh made meals. Often you can find the nicest produce departments. Thanks for your video and all the info👍

I helped brothers move and we found Plano texas . Damn. Huge homes, acres , yea that’s the back yard. Well, stay out of Arkansas . All confederate flags wee taken down. I also tried the poke and it is really good. I want to start making poke bowls at home but I dont know which salmon or tuna is sushi grade. Does anyone know how to identify which fish is sushi grade?
My go to sashimi place if I wanna go cheap and not spend $100/person at restaurant, they have great toro and uni!! Feel bad for the lady behind!! I was watching her while listening to you, at least blur her out!! 🤣
My favorite when it was Marukai was eel over rice, chicken katsu curry over rice, the cool fizzy drinks, the pancake fish with red bean paste inside, and the chestnuts. :) I haven't been by that part of Gardena for a long time since moving away. More power to you, Tokyo Central Market!
I know that Marukai had at least three to five locations. And there were Mitsuwa too. But I forgot what the third brand market was called but it started with the letter i, Isu something? I am confusing it with the ramen places Ichimian but it did start with an i.
Hi, I'm a local of Southern California (basically this area hes eating food in). HUGE DISCLAIMER ABOUT TOKYO CENTRAL: not all Tokyo Centrals are made equally! Hence, the quality of the sushi will vary. One location I do NOT recommend getting sushi at is the location at West Covina, California. Their fish quality is BAD and the sushi is horrible because you can taste that frostbite taste of food thats been left in the freezer too long. Good locations are going to be particularly in the rich areas like Fullerton. I've never been to this particular location in Gardena so I can't confirm.
Have you ever been in an Asian grocery store? aside from the amazing variety available, most are exceptionally clean. Most are so clean, it's noticeable as soon as you enter.

I think Torrance had one of the largest Japanese communities outside of Japan (besides HI, of course).

There is one in the Yorba Linda location as well. It looks so good, but tastes meh in general. I guess that's the case with most buffets.
