    Thank you for sharing this. I just finished a weekend seminar with Li Laoshi and your focus on single palm change is just what I needed to consolidate my understanding.

    Those hand and arm movements are kind of like Tan Sau in Wing Chun. It has something to do with the joint structure of your arm. Tan Sau is the best for blocking or diverting your opponent's straight punches if you know how to do it, that is. LOL But real kung fu masters had figured that out hundreds and thousands of years ago. LOL

    Actually his step is very connected. Then we have to look at whether it is used from a medium to large standpoint. The chracter Bai has another meaning to throw open. Such as throwing open the coat of the old style long coat. Could you enlighten us of your lineage? Obviously I have the same teacher as this man.

    Inner martial arts must cultivate Qi… or else it’s just… movements…

    • @swatsoninchina
      @swatsoninchina  Год назад +1

      How to define qi? 气 is the simplified character for qi but it is not complete. It only represents part of the story. This character is typically used for a word pertaining to a "gas" The traditional character for qi 気 (I think this is still somewhat simplified) tells a more complete story. That qi can be defined as something that exists between two polar opposites: for example something as light and ethereal as gas and something as hard and dense as a solid (like rice). Everything we do either consumes qi or produces it. All movement does this. Some movements will do this more efficiently: Traditional martial arts and qigong to be more specific. What are your thoughts?
