- Being retired in the Philippines means you're constantly exposed to pop music and love ballads. Dumaguete has an escape or two, and for live rock and reggae bands the Hayahay restobar is a good option. I also learned a local hangover preventative - and it works!
Found your channel Via the Video you did with Kevin an Jen. I lived in our house in Mindanao in 2017, then moved to Dumaguete for 2 years. We returned due to Covid Lockdowns. I'm a karaoke singer, but am planning to take it to the next level in the Philippines. I sing Karaoke regularly in Nashville Tenn, at curiously enough AJs Bar on Nashville. I sing old country, rock (spenning 50s until 2020, mostly 70-80-90) and while the Pinays may be into newer stuff with the advent of free FB, Tick Tock, I feel there's a market to entertain Expats who want to hear country and or rock. I sing over 2,000 songs, and hope to find musicians who are good. I can tailor my show to what the hosts of a party, or an establishment wants. I'll probably have a 13A visa, but may just be on Balikbayan status. I'm not looking to play for personal income, the band and manager can have the money. I will watch some of your content to help you out and to learn things too!
Haha great!
great live music.....
Yeah it was great to see and hear original rock music in Dumaguete.
Live band sucks, nothing close to Americans bands, these guys are amateurs.
Cool man
glad you loved it
Looking forward to the hacks video.
Great, I'll update that in a few days
good to see having fun with a few beers ahhhh nice cheers
Hahaha yeah I like watching live rock bands
@@ajphilippineexpat Tamara lookinglike she was going to hop into the drinks too 😋😋
I can't lie, I miss the Blue Oyster Cult "Godzilla" intro music...that aside, I enjoy your vlog and having owned a few motorcycls in my time, I'm glad you survived you brush with disaster. Too many stray dogs in the Phils...
Yes, totally too many dogs! BOC Godzilla was one of my favourites for back in Aus during summer when you drive your car around with the windows down.
Was thinking about you then your video popped up. Band was ok but not as awesome as the Kiss concert in Sydney last week! I'm still on a high 🤣
Haha, big international acts don't come to play in the Philippines as most people could never afford the tickets. So we settle for passionate local talent.
@@ajphilippineexpat you'd be surprised, some big names have come to Manila and ticket prices are Sydney prices too. Shows how there is a massive difference between rich and poor here
As a fellow Aussie, where would you suggest I go on a 4 week holiday in the Phils. I have no girlfriend if that makes any difference. I'm thinking of 1 week in Cebu and 1 in Davao so far. It might make an interesting video for your channel.
I'd say don't holiday in the big cities, unless you enjoy traffic jams and air pollution as a dream holiday. Try instead for beautiful relaxing places.
Ok, that makes sense. Thanks
