A Brit living on Mindanao here, I think the loneliness aspect might drive the initial impetus to make a fundamental change to one's life, but then as information is accumulated, all of the other reasons start to be recognised and come into play. Particularly after visiting the Philippines , it's realised just how wonderful the people are and how beautiful the country really is.
You’ve got it Brit. It happened to me. Thanks for joining us.

Alot of us can't afford to retire elsewhere...😢
@302Rmack indeed that is a sad fact, I freely admit that I was lucky in that a convergence of circumstances made it possible for me.
Life circumstances brought us to this point of conversation. This is really cool. Good luck to all of you guys. Wherever life takes you.
Sam, yours is a wonderful story. I lived in the Philippines in the late 1950's/early 1960's when I was little. My father was in the US Navy and we got stationed at Sangley Point Naval Station in the Cavite area. We traveled to many places in the world during my father's career, but none imprinted me with such positive memories as those from my short life in the Philippines. The memories of how lovely and welcoming Filipinos were. I had friends whose fathers worked on the base. I would visit their homes, which were Nepa huts built on stilts. It was so amazing to experience their province life, so different from the US. My father's Filipino friends would invite us to their province homes for parties, where we ate goat, monkey, snake and the pig roasted on a spit with a pole inserted in one end and out the other (sorry, its a memory I cant shake...lol).
When we first got to the Philippines, there was no housing for us on base. We stayed in an apartment complex in Cavite that was built just for service families waiting for base housing to become available. This is how safe it was back then: my mother would walk me out to the road and put me on a Jeepney that would would drop me off at the base entrance, where I would be transported to my school. Can you imagine today a parent putting their five year old on an open rickety bus for a ten minute ride and the Filipino people on board making sure I was safe and dropped off at the right place? Unbelievable, right? But this was the Philippines, a very common occurrence with such wonderful, gracious people. I so look forward to visiting again before I'm too old.
Ma'am Sangley Point now become Expanded Airport by Under Duterte Administration 2016-2022 it's beautiful airport and better not like before ....
User, I really appreciate your comment. The fact of the matter is. It’s still going on. I came here almost 16yrs ago and I saw that. And it reminded me when I was in the province of Taiwan as a child. And til this day it’s still the same. So when you come back those memories will be alive and well
Wow. Nice to know
Any commercial flights going into Sangley?

Awesome video! Thank you so much! Sam! I am alone in Tokyo. I still have connection with my friend, playing Judo with them. However I feel loneliness. In Philippines, people are very friendly and they are approachable! Filipino’s hospitality is one of reason that I want to move to the Philippines
That’s why I moved here. Although I have many friends and relatives in the USA. It just feels different here. You have a great day !
This person is correct. People in the Philippines are super friendly. 😊
To Japan Premiere, I am in Osaka, alone on my final year on assignment. Moving to Phil next March, I had enough of Japan, lol. This is a very good channel👍

Great video! My Father who is French has been living here in Dumaguete with my mother for 30 years now. He loves this country so much. In fact, I recently invited him over and filmed a vlog with him where he described how his life is here and what are his thoughts about the Philippines.
Wow, I would like to see that roam…is that your channel…@roamwithjoe…
Just watched your video on your dad Joe…loved it..
I saw your dad’s video. He did a great job in my opinion. Very logical thinker your dad!
I love the Philippines because the people are so friendly and helpful, they’re always happy and smiling. It’s definitely cheaper to live there than here in the UK. I hope to retire here in a couple of years time
Philippines will be ready for you when you are. 14yrs. The culture is still the same.

Hi Sam, I liked your good honest thoughts about why Westerners especially come to the Philippines. Many of the thoughts expressed by you by your male guest and the lady were spot on. Life in the Philippines is what it should be anywhere people exist. It's communal, it's what we yearn for and that allure is what brings us in, where we have face to face communication, where honesty is a hallmark of the society, being helpful without expecting remuneration for every little act of kindness and help in general, is not mandatory. Not knowing each other, and having a great distance between us is what is breaking Western Societies, when we we speak to each other in respectful tones, and practice a sense of humility, and an attitude of gratitude we will live a more peaceful and beneficial life style . That's what the Philippines has going for their society and so much more. It's what society was meant to be what it should be about, and be inclusive of everyone.
Lots of truth in your comments, Charles. Thank you so much for joining us

7) Loneliness 1) Loneliness
Twice married to Filipinas first was 15 yrs my current wife is 16 yrs and I am happy. No.1 reason why men go to Philippines is the women. I like the loneliness term, it’s a bit more diplomatic but The Philippines, Thailand and a couple of other countries in SE Asia are ‘Disneyland for adults’ in my experience the conversation with other men over a beer is a lot different than the video blogs here. Filipinas are the best wives by far however.
Don’t care much for that beer talk. But I’ve heard a lot of funny comments once they have a few beers. Thanks for joining us guy. You have a great day

😄 " takes a bath everyday rain or shine" 😄. Yeah, that's correct we take a bath everyday and twice a day during summer season 😁.
And would you believe, a storm whatever the signal be it 1, 2, or even 3 is never an exception to comply the deeply rooted habit.😁
I came here because my wife, whom I met in HK, is a Filipina, wanted to come home to raise our son. Since I was in my early 20s I have lived/worked all over the world - UK, USA, France,China, Laos, Hong Kong, Honduras - so I have no fixed roots. Loneliness is not an issue as I enjoy my own company and am happy with my books and movies and the opportunity to travel.
I’ve traveled over 50 countries and met a lot of people. Lots of smiles and kindness. But when the Filipino people smile you feel that genuine kindness behind it. I’ve never seen anything like it. And I see it almost everyday in the Philippines
"nose bleed" means you are talking English way too fast for them to understand, so, slow down when speaking English, use simple words and avoid using slang terms. You can also experience what "nose bleed" is like when listening to people of the Philippines speak in their native language--it can sound so fast to us foreigners that we don't recognize any of the words even when we know a few dozen words of their native language.
Ah , got it. Thanks for joining us napo
@@SAMLAMB I know a lot of Filipinos who understand English but are just too lazy to speak it, so they say ''bleeding nose''. Many times it's not because you are speaking too fast.
@@1967hashem I think that’s partly true. As long as they try I’m fine with that. I think I’m lazy too haha
Yes, I’m not gonna lie, loneliness is a major reason I’m seriously considering retiring in the Philippines. I’m coming from the US.
I could retire in Colombia, which is where I was born and where I have extended family, but I’m afraid I would be just as lonely there as I am in the US. No such fears in the Philippines.

@@mikecrook8434
Although, I was born there, I’ve been in the US since I was 3. So while it’s the place I was born, I wouldn’t call it my native country. I speak Spanish with a gringo accent, unfortunately. I’ve found people are friendlier in the Philippines, especially the ladies. Much easier for an old dude like me to find a girlfriend in the PI than it would be in Colombia.
I just read a comment and maybe I can answer that…if I had read this question before I heard from a new subscriber, my answer would of been, I DONT KNOW..but now I think I might know the answer to your question…the answer is INVISIBLE… although I had a great like, and I’ve gone through a divorce before…maybe it wasn’t loneliness…at the time I felt invincible to the world…and all sorts of negative thoughts were going through my mind…alright, mike be safe and have a great day…
I think money is what gets people to leave their home country, but there are plenty of place to do that, like Thailand. I think the fact they speak English is a big deciding point for many people to move to the Philippines. It allows for better communication between Filipinos and foreigners without learning a new language. Some have problems learning a new language. Even if you learn a new language, like Thai, there is still something lost in the translation.
Thank you stub. Great comment. Have a great day!

You make a great point. I retired 4 years ago and moved to Mexico. The "loneliness" I experience here is from my not being fluent in Spanish. I miss having conversations with people. I studied Spanish for a year but my progress wasn't triumphal. Language has never been easy for me to learn. That said, knowing that English is widely spoken in the Philippines it makes good sense to live in a country where I can communicate with others without having to use a translator app.
Great point, I felt that when I first moved here…everyone spoke English to me…
Nosebleed to mean inadequate fluency in English ? That's new to me as a Pinoy.
It’s true Mike they speak English and it makes it much easier but having said that they also misunderstand a far amount of what we are saying because the translate exactly and miss the truer meanings.
You know I had a to break up with a Filipina due to the language barrier or misunderstanding. Once you get passed the physical attraction. For me communication and me understanding what she is trying to say. If I can’t figure it out it stresses me. Also her understanding of my English is important too. My English is not very good when I’m upset.
I’m glad you learn something. Haha. Have a great day Manuel
IMO from USA Retired Citizen, live in the USA, married to Filipina and visit often: 1) Cost of living in USA, many people can not afford to live in the USA on social security alone. 2) Lonely yes. No one wants to be alone. For singles, in the USA, dating life not the same. The Philippines reminds Americans of 'how it used to be'. Couple that with attractive, friendly and accepting younger english speaking females, in a sun filled island life, and the Philippines is like a magnet for older single American guys.
My future video will address “ how it use to be. Thank you for your comment. Welcome
When I want to escape the US craziness, Philippines is one of the places I go. How is it that people that are considered so poor by most can be so happy? It's humbling. Our western values are truly warped. BTW, there are very few expats where I go/stay and I like it that way.
I felt that the first time I arrived in PI. That’s what made me come back time after time. The people’s attitudes is what keeps me here. I love them.

sometimes, me and other new generations are actually fed up with the attitude of our fellow filipinos, living in shack without enough food, and money, no gadgets, then here comes the typhoons and natural tragedies, and we are still able to laugh, I don't know how we are able to do that, but we are just happy people, whether there's a bad thing that's happening, we still find ways to look for the positive side and we don't let stress kill us.
It’s really hard for me to reply to your comment as I’m reading your story. Your hearts , your kindness I see it everyday even most of you guys are struggling. My man Sam ….your honesty and sincerity is spot on … for myself I’m 60
No#1 reason I believe for majority of men is to meet a Filipina who has a mutual attraction to them , age differences are less important there than in the west, so PHP attracts us foreigners. So your assessment is accurate.
Social status drives women more in the west than in PHP but it exist in every culture Your guest comments about the economic benefit is not untrue but there are several SE Asia countries where you do get better value ,,, I know because lived there.
Many guys I’ve spoken to for example in Vietnam which is better than PHP in many ways struggle to get noticed unless your flashing the “the bills around “ … but because English is more broadly spoken communication allows possibilities .
I’m a very social person with a dance background and bridge that language gap … wether I be in Manilla or Saigon or even Bangkok but despite this I do feel loneliness but less so when I’m away from Australia,
I will be back in PHP Cebu to continue the quest lol 😊
Keep up the sincerity my friend

Thanks guys I think this was your best video. I think you hit the nail on the head with the issue of loneliness. As we get older we do have less friends, and even though finances is also a major reason we do desire to find new friends as well as a potential relationship. Thanks again.

@@SAMLAMB Wow that’s a fast response !
Hi from Canada Sam, the main reason expat come to the Philippines is to have a better quality of life, here in Canada the inflation is insane, and most people who will reach the age of 65 won't be able to retire, the cost of living here is insane, if at your retirement you do not own a house or a condo and you need to rent forget about retirement. If you do own a house and a condo you will be living slim with what they give you.
I have been looking around the PHilippines and found Cebu a really nice place, IT park is modern and even with a simple pension most can live a good life in the Philippines.
The western women are a lost cause and many foreigners come to the Philippines to find a life partner a good women.
So far i have spoken to a few Filipinas online and its not the best way to meet, some are very nice, some are very quick to secure you up and some are real gold diggers. I rather wait to retire in the Philippines, find a place i like get my papers etc, and then try to find a good women.
I’ve been to Canada quite a few times for work. Even got my lasik surgery done there. Are the cities still clean. That was my impression 20yrs ago. Montreal , Vancouver, and Toronto.

Enjoyed your video today. Yes, Sam is correct. Loneliness does play a key role in leaving the U.S…..but for me, as I am coming in August, it’s a bit of loneliness and much more. America has decayed in its morale and ethical status. From daily shootings to undatable woman….the people in the Philippines is a culture that has been untarnished from the west with its strong family structure and Respectful society……..is it August yet? ……lol…Thanks for the great content Sam!
You should be doing the video. My follow up video really talks about the landscape of why American women are pushing the men out of the country unknowingly with their “ what have you done for me lately attitudes “.
Don't kid yourself you can easily get played in the Philippines if you're not careful but the probability of meeting someone nice with traditional values, kindness, and all the other attributes you always hear about is reasonable. While the odds are higher in finding someone, it helps if you've taken care of yourself or make an effort on some level as you settle in. Taking things slow as in not rushing into anything is the best advice I've heard from various vloggers which is common sense but still good to hear as a reminder.
@@DHarri9977 like always. Great comment Dharri
Untarnished by the west, that would be Laos or even touristic villages in Cambodia and Bali. Filipinos eat hamburgers and they have the word racist and mysogyny in their vocabulary. They get really possesive of their foreign friends and feel uncomfortable when their foreign friend get congenial with other people assumed to be locals.
@@eduardochavacano "untarnished" has nothing to do with diet or vocabulary. I'm sure they are talking about a different issue here. And girls being possessive with their partner is nothing but normal, regardless if your partner is a local or a foreigner.
This is what I think the top reasons are.
1) older divorced men are lonely
2) finances
3) more english being spoken
4) warm weather

Even in your fourties your friends are too busy with family and work. Keeping up with life’s stress is a major killer and your priorities change, you realise time is running out and you can’t buy it back all you have are just material possessions that really don’t mean anything. Hi Sam, this is the first time I've seen your vlog. I've seen the full cast of the Expats of Dumaguete !! and all there drama. I think you hit it on the head, no matter what the guy says it all comes back to some sort of loneliness, wether they met a girl online or they watched RUclips vlogs.I actually was working off and on in China for eight years and to direct I dated a lot of beautiful, sexy, amazing Chinese women in that time. I got out of China in December 2019 when the Vid hit Wuhan. I flew out of Chengdu after fifty eight days of living with one of my girlfriends headed to Beijing then back home to San Diego, CA. The Chinese government held me in the airport in Beijing for three days! That's a whole other nightmare story in itself. Thankfully I had another girlfriend in Beijing to help me navigate through it. I was Tom Hanks in, The Terminal . I got out after paying ten thousnd Yuan. Chinese woman are very different than Filipinas, they are very sophisticated in the way they dress, the very expensive cars and big condos they own in the big cities. At least the ones I dated where two different people. There's one in public who is animated, over the top in dressing, perfect hair and makeup , talking direct and professional. Once you get them home, the sweats or jeans come on and now there laughing, extremely caring and romantic and very naughty. Back to the subject. I ended up meeting a beautiful Filipina online at the end of Covid. She was actually working oversees and we talked everyday for eight months until she went back to the Philippines in April. I flew to the Philippines April 20th and stayed until the end of May. So obviously I was lonely if I met her online. She is amazing! First off, I just turned sixty in March and she will be forty two In December and she looks twenty five. I'm almost six, six, two hundred and sixty five pounds, shes four foot eleven and ninty eight pounds😂😂😂. I can tell you hands down, if you find the right Filipina like I did they are the complete package and I couldn't be happier. Our eighteen year age gap doesn't even exist in the fact that we mesh on everything. I will be back there in October with the ring! Like they say stick with the province girl, shes from the small island of Pilar in the Comotes Islands, two hour ferry ride from Ormoc City, Leyte. For me it was a bit of loneliness to start but now it's also economics, I can retire at sixty two, rent my house out near the beach in San Diego for a very healthy chunk of change and build in the Phil near the beach after where married. I might sell my small company of ten employees or I can run it remotely. So for me love first, money second. I hope enjoy my novel! Sorry I have way to much free time this morning. I got carried away 😅😅😂😅😂😅😂
I love all of it. Great story guy. Best of luck in PILAR. if you’re ever in Duma give me a buzz. My dad was an American. He was in the air force. About 6’2” and my mom was about 4’11”. Anyway. I just love stories like yours.

I looked at many options in retirement. The first reason was the cost of living. Retirement in the US is not cracked up to what it is supposed to. At my age taking on another language was not what I was looking for. English in the Philippines is passable. Icing on the cake is the acceptance, and friendliness by the Filipinos.
Wow, well said, Philip..have a great day
In reality foreigners travel and live all over the world. The Philippines has American roots and many of our military serviced in the Philippines. I agree that loneliness is one of the major reasons. Unfortunately people bring their problems with them and those individuals problems will surface. Most of us are good people but life has its challenges and we all deal with those challenges differently. I have a British friend who is in Duma now deciding where life is going to take him.
It’s also easy to be a bum, feel important, survive and just about everything else you want to be or do in the Philippines. There are also many pitfalls. As they say It’s up to you!
Well said Tom…be safe..

Ouch that hurts
Well said loneliness is a problem and here you can meet someone who would care for you and life has to go on and fulfill your missing link in your life.
It's a shame there is a few back stabbing vloggers but just all live together and be happy life is to short.
I have been here 4 years and very happy
Thank you for joining us Martin. Life is a journey, right. And my last four yrs in Dumaguete has been a blessing.
Are you joking.
Interesting perspectives. Thanks for the video.
Thank you my friend. Welcome to the channel
Hello Sam, I just found your channel today. I also subbed. Nice job!
Thanks Kurt. We appreciate your support. You have a great day
what keeps people there is the fact its peaceful and serene. i retired there once and came back to usa when i ran out of money. when i arrived back in USA not only was it a rat race they went woke which i had no idea what was about until i was attacked by all sides. i miss the simplicity of the Philippines. i miss how the people there treat you like family especially when you show interest in their culture. i miss waking up in the middle of the night and able to step out to the street and not feel threatened. i miss getting on my scooter and just riding and taking roro till i hit the half way point of the money in my pocket and heading back home. i miss stopping at a sari sari to buy a cigarette and some old lady drags you into a nipa hut to take a picture with you. its just a beautiful place even though there really isn't full of infrastructure. its the people and culture.
Great comment William. We really appreciate your story, Philippine will always be here waiting …hope you make it back again…have a great day.
It's in our culture to respect the older person in general while other countries generally shove their elders in nursing homes and that alone speaks volumes. I feel really bad especially for old people with dementia being surrounded by strangers, it's a terrible combo. They should be around the whole tribe where they are constantly reminded and kids to keep them young.
Thanks for the great comment, Prince. You have greats day and be safe
Thank you for doing this ,you gave us so much ideas and informations .
Thank you Maribel. Welcome to the channel. You have a great day
Sam, I loved the video and you have a new fan. Thanks.
Thank you William. We really appreciate you joining us. You have great day and merry Christmas.
DEFINITELY. I WILL retire in the Philippines. Just be happy! dont overthink. Philippines is our haven!

You hit the nail right in the head with your main reason why Americans especially men flocked to the Phils. 🙂
Thank you Manuel… thanks for joining us.
Nice upbeat video, you present yourself well!
Thanks , Are you a falcon fan? I’m a big bulldog fan and falcons fan. I’m just not happy with those falcons, right now 😂 lol
@@SAMLAMB actually, I’m not a falcon fan I am a Green Bay Packer fan and a Notre Dame fan. Lol I just live outside of Atlanta. :)
You are right on the money. I moved here to the Philippines for good last year. I'm 64 and had just finished working in June '21 as a long haul truck driver. Between taking SS that year and getting injured on the job and placed on workman's comp, I moved back closer to family in Texas. All my kids are grown and my girls have their own children + careers. I wasn't spending as much time with them as I thought I would. I actually rented a room in an old friend's house. He and I ran around a lot. It's just the way it is when you get older. I had a home and wife waiting for me in the Philippines and I'm never alone here. I will go back to the US to visit family, but my life is here now.
Mine too, William. Philippines is my home now. We are in the same situation. I was use to a room from my best friend for over 10yrs, so when I go back to the USA to see my kids I’ll have a place to stay. .. until I brought him to the Philippines. He met a Filipina brought her back to the USA. Got married and I was the best man… now I’m out of the room hahaha
I want to go there because; The cost of living is inexpensive.
You could most likely build a home in the province practically without any permits, and how ever you want to.
The foods are incredibly delicious and affordable.
The People are humble.
The weather is amazing as in a tropical paradise.
Too much to list.
All of the above, Vade. Thanks for joining us. Have a great day

Welcome friend!
Watching from Mindanao.
Thank you! 😃… I love this country
Hi, I just want to say your reason for Americans and the like coming may start out as loneliness, but for me its not so much that, the Philippines is absolutely beautiful, beaches for days, temperate for the most part not extremely hot and not extremely cold either, but also for me its the fact the people there are so loving, kind, compassionate, and mostly raised old school to be submissive, and actual wife type, its not all about the drama, and there in the Philippines you don't have to deal with all the women's lib, I don't need a man, I am better than a man crap. Most of the people I have met here in the states from there in the Philippines are super sweet, nice, and its not all about themselves so to speak. One Day I hope to find my mate for life from in the Philippines. I hope I can afford to move there one day before I get too old I'm coming up on 50 fast!
I just made a video talking about that. I was afraid to post it. Didn’t want to offend the girls back in the USA. So I’m doing a bit of editing. But I’ll get it posted in the next week or so. Thank you so much for joining us
@@SAMLAMB sorry hope I didn't offend anyone. not my intent. but the women there in the Philippines are to me better hands down.
You love TRUMP i bet.
You just can't handle an educated strong minded woman who makes a good income. Many older guys can't adapt to us younger generation.
@@phil-be-health I think you totally missed the point, I am sure he can handle a strong minded woman who makes a good income, but its not about that, where you fail to read between the lines is that he /we are looking for a woman who wants to raise a family, have children, stay home, and take care of the kids, the home, actually be able to cook, who will be submissive and not some smart ass who wants everything her way or no way. to know we are wanted and not be a stepping mat, its not all about herself and the constant drama or the thinking is a competition, IT'S NOT! it's about really getting to know your wife on an intimate level, conversating, being satisfied in the bedroom, WORKING TOGETHER in the home to make it a happy home.
I'm American and Don't want Any Part of Dramaguete! I'm living in Naval, Biliran with Peace and Quiet and No Expat Drama! lol I've been here since March 9th, no Expat Buddies Yet, they all keep to themselves here, wave and go on, no conversing.
Haha, you’re really in heaven.

Thanks for watching Ryan
No doubt that people go there to unwind and feel wanted whether from boredom or loneliness is anybody's guess. The money can go a long way and that is the great plus of the Phils. But then again, you can end up supporting several families when you get here. Give or don't give...is entirely up to you. The Phils. can be lots of fun but can also be depressing seeing so many people struggling financially. I go there coz I have a large farm there and finally have time to tend to it coming so close to retirement. The USA is a great place too - w/ lots of opportunities as much as you are willing to try. I love my hobbies and past times in the states of which I can never do in the PHils. My families are all here in the states too. I have many friends from school there in the Phils. and many struggle..not all of course. If people can find themselves by going to the Phils. then that is all that counts - enjoy. IMO>
Great comment Rabid. I agree w u 100%

@10:20 The one thing that concern me is the more americans come, especially the more financialy free ones, the higer the price will go. It's simply the rules of supply and demand. The more americans, the more pricer it becomes. Next thing you know, the locals can't afford to stay on thier own land. I pray the Philippines dont end up being like Mexico.
Good point.
Been here 14yrs. When I first moved here I thought if that. But prices hasn’t change that much. But the real estate prices in Valencia is going bonkers.
There will not be enough Americans to move the real estate price up. Besides, the Americans settling in the Philippines will eventually build his own house so they will be out of the rental market. It is the Chinese who were able to push the real estate rentals in Metro Manila during the POGO (another term for the online Chinese casino) boom during the time of Duterte. They usually decide to buy or rent properties in a very short time and they are willing to pay a lot more than the existing market price. A lot of locals were priced out of the market because of the Chinese. Luckily covid happened and a lot of POGO companies closed shop. Real estate rentals went back to normal after they left.
Up and down, up and down, …..mostly flat and down…I wouldn’t touch the condos in Manila…but always invest where you know the market like the back of your hand..ok, no more real estate talk…I can go on for hours…have a great day guys
@SAMLAMB All engagement is good for your channel. More especially long treds. Would be interested in knowing why you feel you should stay away from condos in Manila.
The wife was shocked at how expensive the USA is..Needless to say now that she is a US citizen, and we can come and go,,we will be heading to the Philippines in a few short years..
Philippines is waiting for you guys. Thank you for the comment, Rick.
There are also older American women settling in the Philippines. Interviewing them will get the point of view of female expats on why they moved to the Philippines.

The best way to explain the Meaning of "Nose Bleed" is if you talk to a FIlipina and your English is way over her head (difficult to explain or understand) ...she means you are speaking high above her ability to understand or comprehend your words. NOSE BLEED. TOO HIGH

" foreigners and Americans coming to the Philippines".... NEWSFLASH...Americans are foreigners too in the Philippines! Shows how egocentric Americans are thinking the world revolves around them 😂
You are somewhat correct. I see that attitude with the Americans. No all , quite a few
Thank you for your comment Mr who
It does
Yeah i personally think it's the English that's the star attraction (yeah the girls, the cost of living, the weather, etc is very important) but you can get that just about everywhere in S.E.A (like Thailand) The only thing that sucks about the Philippines in my opinion is the freakin Natural disasters they get (earth quakes, typhoons, volcano eruptions, etc)
I agree with you. 99%. I had 5houses in Florida all in different locations and all were damaged my typhoon ( hurricane ) at one point or another. I currently dealing with one now. Hit by IAN back in I think September. Just finally getting the insurance money to repair it. Ironically I was at ALONA BEACH, Bohol, Philippines when it hit. My neighbor text me and said “ Sam , I think part of your house is in my backyard lol. Thanks for joining us, Craig
@@SAMLAMB Part of your house is in my backyard lol that's funny yeah that's the reason i never moved to Florida either (i never wanted to deal with any of those hurricanes every year) that's why i currently live in Las Vegas (but planning on moving some where in S.E.A either Thailand, Malaysia, or The Philippines soon) Your Welcome, glad to join your channel.

Sam, i am American interested in moving to the Phillipines later this year. I have never been there. Do you offer consulting to Americans about the do's and don'ts, reasonable expectations, nice places to visit, and potential good places to live there, etc. If yes, is there a way to contact you such as an email to discuss further ?
What I offer is my experience and it’s always free. Contact me on facebook…Sam Lamb we can chat on messenger…I’m helping others now as we speak. I don’t know why some can find me and some can’t. you’ll see a pics of RAZEL and I …good luck my friend…
Living in the US must be really bad when they always mention that the friendliness and hospitality in the Philippines is so much better. Life is what you make in your own country or abroad. I came to the Philippines in the 80th met my wife and married now since 30 plus years and I always will be a Kanno. I didn't run away from my native country because my job brought me here. After so many years living in Asia it's almost not possible going back because the western countries changed a lot in a direction l don't like to live in.
Most of foreigners come because the weather, cost of living, freedom of living, less regulations, nice local people and less foreigners.... The last time I met a white person was 3 years ago because wherel live I am the only white guy....
Then you’ve found the perfect paradise, klause. Everyone has his own journey, right. Welcome to the channel guy. Thank you for the comment
Pssssst, don't tell anyone where you live ;-)
Thanks Gary…
A very small percentage of female retirees retire in the Philippines. Whereas many retire in Mexico or Guatemala, where the 'female' dynamic is less 'positive' than in the Philippines - it certainly would be less of a draw.
So, I agree, it is mainly older men who are now lonely - and female companionship is much easier in the Philippines.
Thanks for joining us tony. You are correct in your assessment.
I just found you today while looking up Dumugete. Very refreshing style and kind manner. Both you Sam and Nikki, right? You keep it simple. Very good. I am visiting Dumugete July 23-?😊 I currently rent in Puerto Galera. Nice couple, great, fun info

Even the gringos who are not lonely. Once they arrive in the Philippines, they become lonely because they don't speak the language. And the Filipino English is limited in conversation.
So a lot of gringos always want to go where other gringos live.
You’ve got a point there.
The Baby boomer Generation is coming to this country, dumaguete feels almost Like a nursing Home for elderly
😂 haha love it
Sadly there are some visitors who want to make it that.
@@dumaguetedreaming I agree with you. Thanks for joining us, Dreaming.
Maybe, but given the choice would you rather a nursing home that cost 4 times as much with a crap tempreture and no good looking and available women that will care for you.
So top 3 reasons someone might choose the PI,
1, Cost (cheaper that the west)
2, Communication (language) english mostly.
3,Lovely caring women (Loneliness) appeasement for men.
I'm an older Gen X but this is starting to look like my future. And it looks pretty good. The US is unrecognizable and gone wacko.

Economics 101. The dollar stretches. The fact that the dollar stretches, also leaves plenty of opportunities, for everything else (including ladies).
Oh My Gosh. Lol. Great comment
Philippines is not for every foreigner. One should have a social n emotional intelligence to deal with other people n culture. Along with living in other parts of the workd is a skill for adaptability.
I can agree with that Ara. Thanks for joining us.
I think that nosebleed (sunggo in Cebuano/Bisaya) in such a joking context is sort of a euphemism for a Filipino's futile effort to understand and/or effectively reply during a conversation (usually in English), hence the mental struggle causes a nosebleed. It is actually a very funny euphemism. Anyway, sometimes we tend to over-analyze why people do certain things. When I get asked these types of questions, I keep it simple and reply succinctly: because I can and I felt like doing it. Food for thought: in general, Filipino men don't usually get that 'special' treatment that American / foreigner men (specifically white folks) get from Filipinas.
I totally agree Raul. Thanks for the comment. You have a great day.
Filipinas don't even attempt that " Special treatment " to Filipino men because Filipino men are not that gullible. You really think a 20 year old woman would really like to hang out with an old man because of love. LOL. Anyway most Americans are broke, To escape financial hardship in the USA they come to the Philippines. Most of my co workers here in the US are over 55 and should be retired already but they are still working, We make close to $40/ hour yet one of my co worker is living in his car. For most Filipinos you're the winning Lotto ticket.I'm just being real.
Easy to understand, non-accented, American classroom English, that's a valuable gift from Uncle Sam.
Remember that loneliness makes a person more vulnerable hence be careful. Let's face it, the Philippines is part of the U.S. as a colony.
I can agree with that. Once again. Thank you for your opinion
i was in Coco Grove in Feb,, amazing place. Though I loved Infiniti Sands down the street because I get to know the people there.
Yeah, we’ve stayed at infinity 3times. It’s nice and cheaper. We use to sneak into the beach at coco grove from the side to snorkel in the sanctuary. But this time I decided to bite the bullet and stay at coco It was RAZELs birthday hehe
