I remember doing this shit in boot camp. People also had to hold flags too. We sang weird shit like this, such as: "Don't let your dingle-dongle dangle in the snow, pick up your dingle-dongle and let it go"
Now we have a new Woke Army so the chants are slightly different now - "I don't know but I been told! Getting woke is good as gold! Being woke is mighty fine! You had better get in line! When you're woke you feel real good! Marching in this neighborhood! Sound off! 1-2! Louder! 3-4! Gotta be woke now! 1-2-3-4 - we're woke!"
Starting at 1:54 that is the first obstacle of the confidence course. It is nicknamed "the ballbreaker." Look at the bolts protruding on the upright posts and you'll see why. If you try to use the post head on to stop from swinging under the crossbeam, you crush your balls. One technique to use if you don't have much strength is to jump up as close to either post as possible...while jumping, swing a leg to catch the post. It will stop you from swinging under the crossbeam, and all your arm and shoulder strength can be used to get you up and over the crossbeam. We had a few heavies do this and it worked.
"When I die, please bury me deep! Place an M16 down by my feet! Don't cry for me, don't shed a tear! Just pack my box with PT gear! 'Cuz one early morning 'bout zero five! The ground will rumble, there'll be lightning in the sky! Don't you worry, don't come undone! It's just my ghost on a PT run!"

I need to confess, I am disgusting fat body like Pvt. Pyle. So now I am listening to this every morning before a do a full set of situps and pushups. Hopefully this will amount to something.
This scene is filmed at ATR Bassinbourne in England. The place they are running passed is stores and the right near to the parade ground. The place aint changed one bit. The lads that were there at the time were pissing there sides at the actors. The drill sgt actor was funny with his morale songs when filming. Some cracking photos up in the barracks. CLASSIC FILM.
Lmao, I used to wake up my son to him crying or hearing his mom yell to wake him up. Recently I have calmly turned my jam box on full blast, walk up to him and push play. And success the kid is tear free and house is yell free. 😂😂 #subliminalmessages?
Vincent d’Onofrio did some serious physical acting. A giant college football player and athlete, there was still a lot of work and effort that had to go into those falls.
I did my basic training where this was filmed (in the UK) they got rid of the obstacle course by then but I recognise and remember everything they ran passed.
Un chef d'oeuvre , an achievement, a masterpiece, an iconic movie. This film must be watched in its original version 🇺🇸 with subtitles for people who don't practice or manage enough US/UK language.Otherwise it is a bloody damned of a hell sacrilege, heresy, insult ! A translated scenario makes the overbearing and anxiogenic atmosphere, charged with an extreme physical and psycho violences, utterly incredible.
No. As someone pointed out earlier, the training base (Paris Island) part was filmed at Queens Division Depot (as was - don't know if it still exists) Bassingbourne Barracks, Royston Hertfordshire in the UK. At 1:30 (as they run past (The exit to the old mess hall)) you can see a wooden fence held by a stick. Behind which were two red GPO phone boxes, that I used to phone from. The 'Vietnam' sequence was filmed in Docklands and Palm trees were indeed brought there. The young female VC killed in the building was in my Brothers class at secondary school in South London. The VC extras and cast (in the fighting sequences) were all Vietnamese refugees that settled in London. It is well known that Stanley Kubrick didn't fly - so had the whole film made in UK. When you get the DLR to City Airport as you go past Pontoon Dock station the building used in a lot of the fighting sequences is still there and still bares the scars of the pyrotechnics used in filming. The building is still used for film location shoots.
My grandpa was in Vietnam, he said when it was time for the gas chamber, the drill instructor said to not rub your eyes when you get out of the chamber. After he got out of the chamber, he was sitting near a rock hoping to get a cigarette in. The drill instructor came up to him and asked "Does it burn your eyes?" My grandpa told him how bad it burned and the instructor said "why don't you rub your eyes then private?" My grandpa rubbed his eyes and said, of course the burn got worse, but that wasn't the worst part. The drill instructor started yelling at him telling him he was an idiot for not listening when they said don't rub your eyes before going in. My grandpa said he doesn't know how he got through his army days, but he did it. He was the best man ever, my best friend in life, passed away this past February. Rip Grandpa.
