I find these Squad Leader tips videos interesting because I always find myself having to go SL and it's not an easy role to play properly. Always looking for ways to improve and these help me out alot.

@@Ivelio1 supply doesn't need to be a permanent role tbh.. if SL needs supplies, just switch to support, lay supplies - usually you should be free to switch back to whatever role you wanna play within no time. What i find most disturbing when playing SL is a squad that just doesn't listen and does their own thing. If i be SL, listen to me, or at least talk to me if you think you have better ideas - kinda on that line. Respect to every long term SL able to cope with that.

One thing is - don't go into Officer wanting to be mister/misses Combat Master SL. The Officers job goes well beyond a high kill rate. Your squad, some of your squad, are the guns. Not the officer.

@MadAtMax (Kaegan) personal kill rate should be the least of SL's concerns as their mind is occupied with other things anyway.

Make sure to keep in mind that your squad mates won’t always listen to your requests and orders. Just be consistent, be reminding, and continue to show that you have some sort of authority and knowledge and they usually should come around and start following your lead and movements.

Monoespecial excellent video sir and I love the whole thing. Also thank you for all the squad tips. As a squad leader myself I generally do some of the things that you bring on up and I try to put my outpost in spots where it's a good position for my swan but also at the same time is hard for the enemy to even know where it is exactly. Also my placement of some of the outpost journaling means that my squad has a travel a little bit longer of a distance but at least we have a safe spawn point to work from which is more important to me.
Also I have one minor suggestion for your video on the first part. You might want to consider try putting a highlight on your mouse pointer since it has a tendency to blend into the background of the map and we can hear you talking but we can't see where your mouse pointer is going.
In addition, I have one other idea for another video you might want to consider making. I have noticed that a lot of players don't fully understand all the different symbols on the map and what they mean and I think it might be a good idea to do a video talking about that since any information can be helpful.

Attacking AA from the wheatfields to the east works as a suprise attack once you draw their defense westward a little. I find attack order works if you go west flank, south flank them bombing run and suprise east. If you can make it to the wheatfields, its just a dash across the road with some smoke 👍

2:00 the biggest fight for AA is always the small cluster of buildings right next to it. You basically have to build some defenses on it and have a squad or two holding it just to keep a good chance at holding AA.
I’d say 3/5 times you lose that little villa you end up losing the point just because of the flanking advantage it gives the attacking team.

One thing the real US Army does, is utilize "Commanders Intent". That's the understanding of the commanders overall goal for a successful mission. It prevents micro managing and allows the ground forces to adapt to the changing battle without direct guidance. This is exactly what you say in the video, when you let your squad operate by themselves. They know the objective and can execute as they see fit

This positioning discussion really helps, as Im often someone who uses myself as a Guinea pig to see whether enemies are nearby lol. So hopefully now I won’t need to do that as often

Honestly i think squad leading comes naturally. You either know what you want to do or you dont. Just cant explain strategy to everyone lol. Best thing to say is create a plan revolving around the blue dots involving your squad either def or att, follow your plan and expect the enemy to know your plan, learn from mistakes

Think you can do a short on Garrison placement? I know the vets have talked to hell and back about single garrisons, but I see people making mistakes like replacing garrisons in the same location or too obvious positions for certain points. Worth looking into I think.

I wish HLL had some maps with more hilly terrain for maneuver and such. But that would by certain need to amplify the size of game maps, I don't know if it would be possible. Right now, the mountainous maps we have basically are composed of one large hill and such, not a conjunction of different hills within a more complex terrain, and with a little bit less tree cover as well.

  • @Liopleurodon
    @Liopleurodon Год назад +1

Like the format... actually, the only minor "critisism" I would suggest is, maybe to mix strategy with the actuall gameplay.
1st I think it gives us a better idea of your perspective (literally, looking at the slight terrain details and hight differences) but also gives us a better idea of the situation you faced there (how did the enemy move/position for example).
2nd: I'd say its more entertaining and so hooking people easier (well not so strategy-nerds like me and likeminded people at least), than just a long analysis and then the gameplay 😉

Mono I really want your truthful opinion, I have been playing since 2019. and I know that this game has been going downhill after every update. especially after update 7, this game went really downhill. For me, this just doesn't feel like the same game anymore. Everyone seems to know what they are doing now and there isn't much of a skill gap anymore. The game feels quite linear as there really arent that many routes to take on each map. Let alone all of the problems the devs are bringing with their updates. Now I am level 150 something and have about 1300 hours in this game. I only build nodes when they are needed and NEVER exp farm at all. I think this game is just a fraction of what it used to feel like. It was so good, there was actual team coordination instead of everyone doing their own thing like how it is now. And there weren't as many automatic guns everywhere either. How do you feel about this game now compared to how it used to feel pre-update 7? I genuinely can not have fun on this game anymore. The amount of hackers and spies have increased drastically as well, and sometimes it just feels like a garrison building simulator.

Your HLL and my HLL experience is very different. You're standing on a hill, in the open, shooting at an enemy gary...armor (3 of them) just roll past you...enemy players standing in the open begging to be shot (some not even facing you).
My HLL experience; spawn on OP, move righ...ded. Spawn on OP, move lef...ded. Spawn on OP, go prone, move rig....ded. Spawn on OP, go prone, pop smoke, move righ...ded. Spawn on Garry, exploded. Spawn on West gary, I'm alive and moving...take a defensive position while trying to be offensive? watch a field for 7 full minutes, sees no one, goes crouch, headshotted by LMG 2 fields over.
Here's the sad part...I'm not exaggerating. Okay, maybe not all matches...but I'll put it this way; IF there was an achievement for spending more time in the respawn screen than playing the game, I'm your King baby!

I never leave my squads open as I don't want people to join expecting me to use comms. I'm happy to use proxy and squad voice, but command voice is chaos most of the time.
