I got this on Sunday. I was gonna change the bridge pickup on one of my guitars, but I plugged it into this on clean 2, split the coil and got the clean sound I dreamed of my whole life. 😂 I’m not changing a thing. I love this pedal. So much fun.
Hey man. You’re the only person to show some love and knowledge of the actual Tom Schultz sounds and songs. Yes there are some great guitarists out there but your rendition of the Boston sound and technique wins them all. This is where this brilliant sound began after all and that is why I will buy this pedal. Rock on dude and keep it up. 🤘🏻
As a "Recovered Rockman Gear Hoarder" I just bought one of these, added TC Electronic Quintessence Harmony Pedal, second Stereo Chorus, a Stereo Reverb and a Stereo Delay Pedal then run them into Stereo Interface Channels in my DAW. Total cost $550. I dumped all the Rockam Rack stuff and recovered over $6K. :)
It’s great to see MXR bring this pedal out in 2025. I was fortunate to get a vintage Rockman Sustainor and GOAT Stereo Chorus (1.0) recently so won’t be adding the MXR right now. Rock on! 🤘🏻🎸🖖🏻
I was talking about this on another guys review of the pedal that was saying people were getting noise. I guess people dont understand this was designed to mainly be used with an interface, and secondly with a guitar amp. But even still people dont know how to gain stage, they have grounding issues, shielding issues etc etc. Not surprising people didnt read the manual to find out about the internal stereo switching. Mine will be here saturday and boy was it hard to find someone that actually had them in stock, im hoping its an indication we will get some good music coming out lol I will be using a stereo 1/4 in that splits into L and R cables without an adapter because I have one. Rock On!
Be patient, it’s worth the wait. Trying it first with as little in your signal chain as possible is key. This video was a straight shoot from Guitar to MXR to a Rockman stereo 2 channel amp to speaker cabs, simple- no other effects or EQ. Properly shielded cables, and correctly installed pickups with proper grounds also very helpful. Best of luck - enjoy!
Good Video. Very informative. The box has a nice sound. But, don’t like the fact you need to buy an extra switch to change channels. Also, a little expensive for a distortion pedal.
Hello Anthony. I just found you. I like the idea of this box because I have a clean amp. I use pedals for and I love the 80s Boston tone. I had one of the original Rockman's. Sounds great man. Very cool. Does your Les Paul have a trem? When you were playing at the start of this video it sounded like so. Very cool. I will subscribe brother. ❤ God speed man. Regards from South Central Indiana. The heartland . Tim. ❤
dang, i ordered mine thursday morning on the day it was released and it's not suppoed to be back in stock until some time in february. you got yours pretty quick. thumbs up on the video! ah you must have per-ordered yours. i didn't.😥
I stated in the video that this was a totally dry run of just the pedal and no other effects. I would normally use the vintage Rockman stereo Echo rack module.
Thanks for the video. If you leave it in stereo will it still work in mono? (ie) if in stereo mode would the mono output be half of what it would be if the pedal was in mono mode?
@@steve_one it surely would work, but yes you’d lose that separation sound of the chorus and Dist. You would lose tone, not signal volume. Try both for your tastes. To me, that’s the special sauce.
Cool top cabinet! Did Vince Risso build that for you? I use to have alot of Rockman gear back in the day. Still have the A1250 combo and a few modules. Nice demo. You obviously know how they were designed to work judging by the Rockman gear you have. Another interesting note is that Rockman also marketed a single rack power amp made by Randall
Thanks buddy- I know Vin very well, but he didn’t build that cabinet . Nice to hear your love of the Rockman products. If you ever want to sell the A1250 combo give me a holler. Subscribe to this Channel so you can reach me at a later date if you decide. If not, I’m on FB too. Thanks again buddy!
I love the concept of the Rockman, but the huge midrange hump inherent to its tone is too extreme for me. There's a roaring/thrumming quality to it that's pretty fatiguing (to my ears, at least) after a while.
Some of the channels here treating this like a headphone amp/direct box might have been sent the pedal for free because they're "influencers"(have hundreds of thousands or even millions of views)and they're just trying to "make it work" for clicks and well nothing really relevant rhymes with clicks. Dunlop views youtube channels as a better advertising method than some rich rock star who might not even use it. Beats paying thousands when you can selectively hand out $100 to people who may sell the pedal better than the average guy in the music store. The 1st video I watched I was thinking, surely UA Audio has a more practical plugin with way more complex sounds but 274k subscribers. I was like, what does it sound like through an amp? I don't know input and output stuff but if you are already smoking some tubes and then you add a pedal with high output distortion, it's bound to get too fuzzy. It's good to have an amp with multiple channels or one with multiple volumes.
Shoulda put the echo on it.i own one i think it's best used with an interface to your computer program.a bit spikey, and no eq at all either.shoulda waited.put it back in the box after half hour.never opened the provided power souce.(standard neg.center.) just like knew.gonna sit on it for a while.Or send it back.got 2 more days to decide.Major problem here is it doesn't play well at all with anything.Clean amp.?Turn your hi-end down alot, bass down alot aswell.it may have a use for a song or 2.but that's it.
Honestly I hope they work on the other Modules like the Chorus and Echo in pedal form. Right now I'm happy with the GOAT TC Gakki pedal clones so I don't to risk blowing out my originals :P
I will have to pass on this pedal. I have some nice Rockman tones on my Axe Fx that sound very believable. I also made some TONEX presets that sound good for that sound.
Personally see this as a musical bedroom toy... I'm sure that thing would sound like ass if you tried to play with it live... And who the hell would want to sound like Tom Scholz anyway?
Just did a gig with this last night! 3000 sold out immediately, 2nd wave also sold out, wave #3 currently on back order, I’d say plenty of Tom Scholz time fans.
They sounded like shit then, sound worse now. Peavey has a few great amps, maybe a guitar or 2...but this line ain't it.. I'd buy an old gorilla or pig nose before this
Too bad they didn’t put the stereo/ mono select switch on the outside of the pedal? Can you just select ‘stereo’, put the back panel back on and use it stereo or mono ( mode sensed dependent on whether you use a TRS cable or a mono instrument cable)? What an unnecessary pain in the butt. Just put the select switch on the outside of the pedal, problem solved.
By the way, your demo is the best I've seen on this pedal
@@rmsavig2204 that’s awesome- glad you enjoyed it!

I stated in the video that this was a totally dry run of just the pedal and no other effects. I would normally use the vintage Rockman stereo Echo rack module.
@anthonygarofalo4151 ok it sounded like it has reverb or echo on it

Maybe the room acoustics are echoey or something. Thanks
Thanks for the video. If you leave it in stereo will it still work in mono? (ie) if in stereo mode would the mono output be half of what it would be if the pedal was in mono mode?
Put it in Stereo mode and use a Stereo cable OR put it in Stereo and use a MONO cable and it driven by the TYPE of Cable used. There is no "halfing".

I think the pedal sounds better in mono. Set it and forget it.
Most situations for a guitarist will be mono. You need to be in the center, That being said, life is too short not to be in stereo 🤘🏼
