JR. Nice video, but I think the layout may have been drilled a bit on the strong side for you. I tend to get my pieces drilled mid strength so I can control the hook from whatever zone I choose to throw it from.
JR I'm 100 percent with you about the Hyroad OG and Phaze II! I also couldn't stand any of Belmos early balls but I do have a Trend 2 and Fate I heard good things about that I need to invest some time with for practice.
Thank you for mentioning the Phaze II and Hyroad. I did the exact same thing as you with half a dozen pin layouts and everything I could possibly try. Huge over under for me to the point I changed mechanics thinking it was me. On a house shot some times it could be thrown gutter to gutter and make it to the pocket. Sometimes it would just wash out or come in high and would give me crappy pin counts. That being said I'm a two hander that still uses strong layouts on Sure Locks/Alpha Crux/Proton Physix and benchmark layouts on !Q Ruby/!Q Nano/OG Phaze I/Trend 2/Idol Pro lol. I'm oldschool! Trend 2 is the ONLY Belmo ball other than possibly a Pro Motion I came close to matching up with. Promotion 100 times over a Phaze II for me
2:54 Hi J R, I’m curious to know what your typical rev rate and ball speed is. I purchased a Storm Absolute not yet a year ago, thinking it’s going to hook a lot more than I’m used to. Although I can/do pretty well with it, I have shot a 300 with it, it just doesn’t have that big hooking stand at the ball return, throw it over 18-20 board and watch come around the moon. I’m a pretty fair bowler and have bowling for years, I’m 56 yrs old, so it’s not like I’m new at this. Why can’t I hook like I see in RUclips videos?
@@lamarmoore7117 The vast majority of the time equipment is gonna be like that on house shots that don't have a ton of games on them. A ball that's not clean through the fronts is not gonna give you a lot of strikes (unless it's a urethane ball, those are designed to hook super early). With these ball reviews, try to think about them in reference to other balls thrown on similar conditions when making decisions on what to get.
@@grillmaster95 But almost all "reviewers" also called the Gem clean. When the strongest, earliest hooking reactive ball on the market is called "clean" then the term has lost all meaning.
@@BornIn1500 tbh tho the gem does look very clean to us high rev players, its too strong for it to get any motion with us lmao, also I’d say the jackal ambush is stronger than the gem, just storm ppl claim they have the strongest ball ever
Anyone else notice that when he steps up on the approach to throw, JR's head, amazingly, looks like the ball he's testing?
You are correct, the Journey has a pearlized version of TX-16, the coverstock of the solid Phaze II. The core is the F-8 core of the Storm Fate.
So glad to see that TX-16 cover is back!
i finally ordered my Journey and cant wait to drill it and throw it!

This is the one I have been waiting for!

I had the same issue with every the phase 2 and hyroad. Extremely over under. Then I also have that same issue with the Venom Shock and IQ
So is this ball good for dry lanes or medium lanes? I like the motion but not sure of the ball.
So if i was going to build a JR ball, it would be a swag ball. Thinking Royal Diamond core with the Archive cover.
I want you to do a ball review on the original hyroad.
Curious to know, did you throw it out the box or did you put some surface on it?
Definitely OG ALpha Crux pour color vibes....
What do you recommend for a left handed

Man, Belmo is making bank with all the Storm bowling balls he’s endorsed.
If threw marbles people would start buying marbles
Nice video sir 😊
Timeless could have been called strikeless
I’d buy a JR Raymond SWAG urethane ball ;)
Cool video talk tech bowling bowling ball
Rev rate 75 less than belmo? i laughed out loud.
I'm new to bowling but it seems every ball review I have ever seen every ball is so called clean through the fronts

More like 200 less
My pro shop guy doesn't think knowing your pap is important.
They never reply to comments it’s ridiculous
Why you dont do your researches of the product before testing it and talking about it..? Lol
Silly ball.
I still keep a hy road in my arsenal
I still can throw 230’s with it.
The ball is too strong for you
