March 12 will go down as a surreal memorable day for me.... I had just landed in Washington DC for a weekend trip and I was in Alexandria eating lunch and the calls and texts came about that all the major tournaments were getting cancelled and all my plans for the weekend were getting snuffed out. By the end of the next night I was back in Ohio..... I will never take anything for granted again... I completely understood why the NCAA cancelled everything in 2020
What a sad day... I was in school and it was 12:10. I check my phone to see what time it was and what game was about to play. I am a cuse fan and they were about to play later that day. I pick up my phone and it said, canceled. Those words hurt. Real bad. You just get that feeling. Of sadness.
My wife, friends, and I attended the Georgia Tech vs Pitt game on March 4, 2020. Senior Night for Tech. We had club tickets and access to the pregame and halftime buffets. Hand sanitizer was prevalent, a new thing. Fans and even the refs had small bottles of hand sanitizer clipped to their belt loops. We definitely noticed it. That would be the last sporting event I attended in-person until the start of the 2021-22 basketball season in October 2021.
I was actually at this tournament. I remember hearing rumblings through the coliseum on wed night that the rest of the tourney was going to be played without fans
I was at The games Weds …. Had planned to attend rest of the weekend as I had in years prior Thru out my childhood….. had no clue making the hour drive home to Salisbury it would be my last
The 1994 MLB strike is why there's no longer a team in Montreal. The Expos were having the best season in team history when the strike hit. Had there been no strike, the Expos win the World Series and MLB is still in Quebec.
@@drewzuhosky6826really thought if you think about it no one had cov 19 on either team at the time and if they did they would have speard it during the first so at that point everyone there hass it so younshould have just played on and then call it again
Looking back at this at the two year anniversary of when the world stopped, it was an overreaction. First off, pulling the plug on the conference tournaments meant pulling the plug on the big dance. The big dance is seeded by the conference tournaments. So, to try and have the NCAA tournament minus the conference tournaments is like trying to paint a masterpiece with little to no supplies. Secondly, cancellations weren't warranted. Postponement, yes, but NOT an outright cancellation. The 2020 college basketball postseason could have been put off for a few weeks and played minus fans. The Ivy League kicked that first rock down the hill that eventually turned into an avalanche

Kinda like the college basketball version of the "1994 major league baseball season "
We were supposed to play you guys late that night before everything closed down.

Let's pray this never ever happens again!
The 2020 Florida State team is like the 1994 Montreal Expos

Eligibility issues would have been a concern. Keep in mind, this isn't a pro sport.
@@drewzuhosky6826 But didn’t they grant an extra year of eligibility to any athlete that wanted it?
@@montecarlo4294yes but only for future seasons, players for this season in question didn't get that year back.
