looked at some sheets of the pros and some of them is good to the point they mark every setting on c-d block and al the other setups gets useless when you dont know where to set the rollcenter.
Sooo many settings. I'm still learning how to drive, so most of those settings are too much for me. Tires is my first thing to make sure I dial in, then suspension oil and diffs. Nice to see the importance that this is an ensemble and not just unique points here and there.
Thank you, I appreciate all your support and help. I knew about the set up sheet but didn't know about how to make it work to an individual advantage. Thanks
Thank you, thank you! this kind of content is amazing for me as a newbie (and my 10yr old son) to be able to comprehend the sport better and increase the fun we have without having to figure out everything through trial and error. Mucho gracias!
Great video, Ryan, setup is key! One note though, using Ryan Harris' setup but not driving like Ryan Harris can lead to a lot of frustration. I recommend the kit setup in most cases, then the racer can make setup changes as their skills progress.
Hi Ryan you have very good videos and I appreciate all of your hard work I am new to rc and I just bought a used Tekno nb48.3 how would I find someone in my area to help me to get my buggy ready for its first lap around the track?
I’m completely new to RC and your vids are amazing and has helped me so much to understand what does what and things to consider. Thanks a bunch from London
super good video. makes sense. and just want to say thank you for all your b64 videos. it was them that got me started driving. and of course bought a b64 for god's sake continue with the good videos
Awesome informative video as always! If you need a video idea, one thing I've always been fuzzy on is all of the FLUIDS involved in RC. It would be awesome to see a comprehensive overview of all the different types of fluids you use and which ones to keep multiples of. I feel like fluids/oils/greases/threadlocks/glues/cleaners are kinda overlooked and your presentation style would be perfect for explaining all of it.
Hope to see more on setups and loved the how to videos hope to see more of them. As a long time RC enthusiast but new to racing they are helping me tremendously.
Hey Ryan like your videos on the RC set ups and stuff just now getting around to building a 22.5.0 AC For carpet small tight track do you have a current set up sheet for a car like this thank you it is a 17.5 spec class
Thanks for the great info, Ryan. I have been in the RC for quite some time, and I'm fairly knowledgeable about the basics, but have just decided to start trying my hand at racing. Picked up an EB410.2, and I'm ready to start diving into the more intricate stuff. LOL I think I'll be watching a lot of your videos! Thanks again!
It would be cool to see a video on setup changes from a high traction clay setup to a old school loamy dirt “Mx” style setup and how they’re opposite changes to make more grip in each track
Nice video. I really think that having access to more setup sheets is very helpful. Maybe you can talk more Team Losi guys into sharing their setups more often. Even a "generic" setup kind of like the one in your video would help tremendously. BTW, I noticed the photo of Mr. Densford was in front of the famous Golden Driller in Tulsa, probably taken at the Chili Bowl race. They have both a Chili Bowl RC, and a big boy Chili Bowl every season at that venue.
Ryan, The work you do is the best! I would like to know if you could create a travel itinerary of the tracks in your area for a travelers to visit. Track a day we'll say. Let us say a two week period, no more than 150 miles between the most distant tracks. All points from your desination. Sound feasible? Not a stocker, Spouse travels for work.
Still a little confused on pill inserts. When you see a set up sheet showing C-D blocks I can’t tell where you would be looking at the block from. Is this looking at the block on the side where you would be able to see the .5 or 1 on the pill or looking from the rear or front of the car? Tia for any help, it’s greatly appreciated. I come from some old school e buggy roots and am just getting into racing 1/10. Im not used to car with this level of tuning ability and these newer ways of tuning(pills). Car is a tlr 22 5.0 btw. Cheers everyone and let’s have a great year of racing!
Ryan, I was watching your Quarastream video from 1 year ago and you went over Dakota and Zeke setups on the 5.0 TLR. You didn’t go very in depth on what the crazy pistons they were running on their setups. Can you please do a video on what they crazy piston setups actually mean with a visual showing what is actually happening with their pistons on the setup sheets?
I have the 22-4 from TLR, the previous 4wd buggy. They had whole parts for the rear for adjusting toe and anti-squat. I kind of like the pill system better and wish I could convert it to use that, but oh well.
Great topic, is there any way you can go through a video of going through an actual setup like you doing the setup on your car. This is a great explanation but would like to see what you are saying related to the car.
Not related, but I'm having a hard time to find an avenue to present my question, which is: sportsman / pro drivers... how do you decide who gets to stand where on the driver's stand? Is it order of qualifying first pick? I know I like certain angles better than others. How do you figure out where you get to stand in the mains?
Hello Ryan "styles" Harris, ive been lovin your videos! I was wondering if you would be able to do like a full 1-2 hour video, or break it up into a numerical series where you explain and show how to adjust all these parameters in order. and maybe like explain what most commonly happens to the vehicle after each thing is adjusted. I know it can very per vehicle but it would still be really helpful! Thats probably a lot to ask but youre the man! haha
This is awsome ryan.Like i said before great info. How big a differants is it from indoor set up to outside set up?Have a wonderful day.Stay Safe Stay Healthy
I'm fairly new to rc cars but have quite some experience with suspension setups on bikes and cars. The main thing I don't understand is why the shocks are so hard to tune. Both compression and rebound are locked to each other. I find that I'd like to get much more compression dampening, but have a fast rebound for the rough terrain driving that I do. Is there a way to get 2-way adjustability on shocks, or are they just too small for those complex valve systems?
Do you think you can do a follow up video on pills, on like how the car reacts, what they do how the car responds those Kind of things And maybe some other topics that might need more detail like shock tower positions and A-arm points, camber link, Why would you have it on position 5 vs say position 2 and why you would want a longer link other than a short link while still having 1 or 2 degrees of camber. Another topic could be ball stud placing and spacing what are the hidden secrets within them Super awesome video, I definitely learned some new things I did not know an hour ago👍
@@RyanHarrisRC I agree with you, but it would also be nice to know as a beginner what the general reaction of the car is going to be, before going in there willy nilly and burning up a motor or something, thats honestly my biggest fear haha
What do you thank is better 4wd buggy TLR 22x4 or team associated b74 1d or tekno what is the best one for the track on handling and as a kit to put together
Love your videos Ryan, Setup sheet, what's that, I'm always being told by fellow racers I need to set up my cars, i just stick them on the track and if it goes I'm happy, lol
First the resource for setups doesn't work. Second, anywhere we can see your set up sheets? Of all the spec sheets on the TLR site, 1 is 17.5 and same track conditions. And already variances from what i have. Bought a lot of what you recommended in videos for set up so figured ask before i go buying more gears, springs, etc. Running a 5.0 DC Elite with a Trinity 17.5 for stock spec.
TLR setup sheets are so complicated and hard to decipher so annoying. Its crazy to me that a company like Tekno can come along and blow them completely out of the water as far as manuals and setup sheets go all that money that Horizon Hobby has and you think the would step it up but no.
Great video, chassis setup took me an age before ever figuring out. Always something new to learn. On a side note for you or anyone that races outdoors. With these new skeletonize motors. How do they handle the loose dirt that can enter the motor. Will it accelerate the wear and tear on the motor?
Hey Ryan I’m gonna be in Florida March 11-16 and I’ll at beachline that weekend and was wondering if you would maybe stop on by or race with me it will really cool for that to happen you don’t have to just asking because ngl it was really fun to race with you and I want a rematch.

TLR oil is thicker than Associated, if you compare the CST values.

Use Tom's setup from the TLR page for OCRC. He has one specifically for that track!
