Great video for those starting out! I wish your video was around when I first starting with handguns. The military taught me zip about holsters or even the 1911 I was issued. Yes I’m old (66), but the point is knowledge is king.
Good video. For every handgun that I own, I have purchased a good quality holster. For me, gone are the days of leather holsters. Since the birth of Kydex, it has become my preferred form of holster. They don't break down like leather and the retention is great as well as being adjustable. I own a few OWB's but prefer to carry IWB 95% of the time at 4:00.
If you switch back and forth between IWB and OWB, keep the holsters in the same position; no sense messing up all that practice just because you switch holsters.
Yup, when i first started carrying, i bought a cheap nylon holster. That didn't last long after doing my research on kydex manufactures.Been carrying OWB( i don't open carry btw) for three years and these holsters fit perfectly.I wear shorts and t-shirts most of the year and my firearms conceal without an issue.Tried appendix/iwb carry a couple years back, but it just wasn't for me.I also rotate my carry firearms monthly(gotta keep all my girls happy) ;) I now own the G26, Walther PPS, Shield, XD9sc, Sig P320sc and recently acquired and possibly my favorite M&P9c.And yes, i have multiple colored holsters for each firearm.I'm almost as bad as my wife is with her shoes. ;)
I love doing owb concealed at 4 and putting the shirt behind the pistol at 3 when switching between concealed and open. Especially at home after a long day.
Although I know it's not practical, it sure would be nice to try a holster out before first having to buy one. Have just ordered a Vedder appendix holster for my G43. Fingers crossed that I will like it.
I want to see a small group of people wear diffrent holsters and compete in a crossfit race like a tough mudder or that sort , if the firearm is still in the holster and in place i might consider it. 🤔. Wait what if that was a competition. 🤯
If you are a bit overweight (ie have a gut) is it still possible to carry IWB or does it make more sense (for comfort and access) to carry OWB? Thank you and very nice video.
Concealed only counts of the weapon is not visible. So even if it's an owb concealment holster, I believe if your shirt is tucked in then that would count as open
I am wondering if you have an opinion on the alien gear holster 4.0 they came out with since I bought it for summer time concealment but sadly the place I am applying to work won’t allow concealed carry since it is a hospital
Can you provide a link for IWB holster that also come with the clips that you suggested? Picking up my S&W SD9VE next Tuesday. Still looking for the right holster. Thank you in advance!
So, as long as I stay consistent.. it doesn’t really matter what kind of holster I use? I know the situation may very. I currently have a iwb holster/mag pouch. But I’ve recently purchased a owb mag pouch and I’m wondering the same for my holster.
I've asked something similar before, but are "accidental" discharges more likely from holstering or unholstering nylon holsters? Do the custom kydex holsters (similar to AlienGear) completely eliminate the possibility of those kinds of discharges if you have theoretically perfect trigger discipline?
Love your videos. Have you tested the Urban Carry IWB pouch style holster? What are your thoughts. Thank you for all of your great information, keep up the good work.
newbie question. 1st: great videos! good teacher. 2nd: what is the difference between a left hand and right hand holster? if you carry at the 4 oclock position, on the right side, do u need a right hand or left hand for most comfortable carry and drawing?
Looking at your body as a clock 4 o'clock is where you would carry of you're right handed, 7 o'clock would be the same if your left hand. And yes the belt attachment will be on the opposite side left hand holsters vs right hand holsters. Thanks for watching!
I am old school. Back in the day I used IWB Safariland leather holster with Rossi S&W model 36 clone in the small of my back...In your opinion, what type now days would be good for similar carry of a J frame .38? Or, should I consider carrying a semi-auto? Thanks...
The holster material I prefer is leather...very durable, holds the pistol securely, conforms well to the contours of the pistol (looks good too)... I carry OWB for accessibility, and it doesn't move around; it's always exactly where you left it... nine is a Gilco with two belt loops, with each on either side of the loop on my jeans or khakis... it's comfortable and easily concealed under a jacket (I always wear a blazer, windbreaker, or vest, depending on the weather... thanks for the video... 😎🍀😎🍀😎🍀😎🍀
Great video.. I am a first time buyer and finally got approved for my purchase after a 7 month delayed background check!. Thanks for the advise and I'll be sure to watch all of your videos .
Oregon State Police approve the applications in Oregon. They had a false record of a burglary arrest on me (someone used my name when arrested I guess). I have always had a clean record. I even went to the county and district attorneys office and they confirmed they had no record of an arrest. It took 7 months for the county to complete the research for the State Police!! I read others have had to deal with the same thing here in Oregon.
I carry owb a glock 19 or a Springfield xd in a small little desantis holster at the 4:30 position. All seasons and to the best of my knowledge have never been made. You'd really be surprised what people "DONT" notice. Nice vid .... thx

Nice, glad to hear you have it all worked out now!
Thanks, still a good vid 6 years after you posted it.
Great video. I spent a lot of money buying holsters to learn what you just showed us.
Thanks for watching! That's not uncommon most shooters have a box full of holsters they tried.
@@neilnemetz I've only been shooting for about 14 months and I already have a drawer full!!
Got the speed clips for owb. Best config of em all. Very fast on and off and secure. Conceals better than anything else
I love doing owb concealed at 4 and putting the shirt behind the pistol at 3 when switching between concealed and open. Especially at home after a long day.
Great video! Finally someone broke it down perfectly!
Just starting the research for a CCW holster. Good information on both IWB and OWB. Thank you!
Teach Loomis thanks for watching. make sure you check out our Concealed Carry Positions: How to Carry Video on holsters. You may find it helpful

I just started with OWB concealed. I don' think I can ever go back to inside holsters.
What specifically was the issue?
If you are a bit overweight (ie have a gut) is it still possible to carry IWB or does it make more sense (for comfort and access) to carry OWB? Thank you and very nice video.
Look into Black Diamond Guns and Gear for fat guy holsters
Serious question. As long as your shirt is tucked in, can you still open carry inside the waistband? Or is that still considered concealed?

Clark Kent aliengearholsters.com
Thank you for the response, literally just stumbled across them while doing a quick Google Search.
Clark Kent if you haven't got a holster already try www.n82tactical.com I have one that fits my SD9VE as well

Holstering. If the trigger isn't press when its put into the holster the kydex will do its job protecting the trigger guard.
Love your videos.
Have you tested the Urban Carry IWB pouch style holster?
What are your thoughts.
Thank you for all of your great information, keep up the good work.
Dayan I do not think that holster is an improvement or nessary compared to a quality IWB holster. I would not recommend it.
Thank you
Thanks for the great review!
great videos, have you done one on pros and cons on leather holsters? I see you mostly deal with kydex.
For Iwb carrying do u get a bigger Pant size or could u stay with ur normal pant size depending on how loose they fit on u?
What if we want to carry without wearing a belt? Say I have leggings on? Any Holsters for that?
Look into a belly band my daughter has one she really likes it

Tony V i would encourage you to shoot the Springfield XDs and the Shield. see what you think.
great video! can you do a full video on appendix carry?
Thanks for the video! Where can one find the belt loops for the alien gear holster? I notice they only sell the clips on their website.
Nope they sell them just click on clips under the shop now tab and they are the first item.
I see them now, thanks!

Thank you sir very good imfo
can you convert OWB loops to IWB loops on your own?
yourarkangel yes, on many kydex holsters you can. It will say when you buy it.
Sick intro 👍🏾😎
You tell it straight.
thank you my brother
Thanks for watching
Thank you.
thanks for the info!
How can you conceal carry with a tucked in button up shirt?
Just use a tuck-able holster.
What is the reasoning for nylon being garbage?
If only one could try on holsters before purchasing one.
can i carry a paddle closer to the 4:30 it is a little more comfortable.
Daniel Sexton yes if that works for you.
+Geauga Firearms Academy thanks i also jist got a good gun belt felt a difference with in sec.

Well awesome job to you sir for staying with it and getting your permit!
can you carry outside waist band now in America?
Timothy S yes
You've always been able to in most states.
I carry owb a glock 19 or a Springfield xd in a small little desantis holster at the 4:30 position. All seasons and to the best of my knowledge have never been made. You'd really be surprised what people "DONT" notice. Nice vid .... thx
Ohio IS Siberia! lol
Joseph Decker lol thanks for watching.
Did he say he lives in Siberia? Like Russia?? Lol
Я думаю, что он шутил.
