Food companies are still making record profits and doing massive stock buybacks. . The stresses caused by a cost of living increase don't abate instantly. Many people out there have gone into debt, can't pay their taxes, have had to skimp, and those shortfalls are still real even if the impetus stopped last year. I do not know what those graphs say but as an American consumer I can say that grocery prices continue to go up since the pandemic . They never went down after the supply chain caught up with demand. I live just above the poverty level. I have not had a raise in five years. I have cut my grocery budget every way I can. And the price of groceries goes up every week. May not be the place, but I just want to throw it out there: Part of me wants to see Harris embrace her lack of tangible policies and keep the election about values. It’s pretty clear from her time with President Biden that she’s willing to work with republicans to come up with solutions to problems. I think they’re being absolutely fair. If you don’t be a bit charitable to both sides, then you just become propaganda. Trump didn’t have control over the republican’s state policies the last 4 years, and he’s not responsible for the decisions of the Supreme Court, although it _is_ thanks to him that they are so stacked. Calling it ‘Trump’s abortion ban,’ is just not consistent with reality.

The irony is downunder its compulsory to vote. We don't have these massive political conferences. Most of us don't even listen to the speeches of the 2 main parties and usually vote the same party unless you get dropkicks like Scomo who get voted out. He was the DonOLD of Downunder.
I think the rise in smaller parties and independents shows that quite a few Australian are paying attention and are politically engaged. Could of course be stronger but seems to be heading in a good direction.

We don’t have massive political conferences because here the party chooses the leader of the party well before election year and they run with that leader. We vote for a party.
