First, a little context. Every member is an outstanding musician. All the girls are multi-instrumentalists. Bass (Miho) and Drums (Haruna) come from the legendary all-female metal band Destrose. They were actually awesome. Check them out. The girl on right on Dean guitar (Miyako) - we are not worthy - no, really. She will probably put over 90% of any hard rock and metal players to shame - she will outclass them. She is a classically trained concert level pianist (for real) with University BA degree in Music (26 years piano). Guitar is her 2nd instrument; she can play bass and drums, too. She picked up guitar at 18 years. She composes over 50% of their songs. Midori on ESP guitar (on left) picked up guitar at 20 years old - she went to ESP Guitar School). Before that, she used to play piano. Asami (vocal) used to learn ballet and sing R&B. She can also play piano. She went to high school in Hawaii on an exchange program for a year. She writes most of their lyrics. All their songs are in English.

There's a reason why Mikko and Mika are involved. LoveBites is currently the only Japanese band signed to a western-world label: Nuclear Blast Records, which is the same label that Nightwish, Sabaton, Jinjer, Children of Bodom, and Stratovarius are on.

I just went to Nuclear Blast website and they don't list LOVEBITES with their "Bands" list and when I searched it showed (1) "upcoming release" with no name and no picture and no information, though I have seen, I think, a LOVEBITES music video or song on u2b associated with Nuclear Blast (because I find associating the name with Japan a bit uncomfortable, yet LOVEBITES has the most legit 'claim' to such an association, from an historical perspective.) I certainly admire LOVEBITES attitude in their songs "The Apocalypse" and "Under The Red Sky". I'm gonna see if NB Records has a 'channel'... Also, Wikipedia does not list NB as an associated label, but Wiki has gone downhill for years now...

The only reason I would say they don't get mainstream recognition is because their music is meant to be complicated, ambiguous, melodic and you need to listen to it multiple times to dissect it. In other words, it took a ton of effort to make compared to most garbage on the radio that all sounds the same

Once they start playing a 2 hour concert they turn into Metal Goddesses. Yes, another one bitten. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level. You picked one of the best "starter" songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano. They are amazing live. Not, this is Helloween vibes! Lovebites is a classic band. You can check more this band, Lovebites play thrash metal, power metal, speed metal, metal shymponic, heavy metal and hard rock, very classic metal with influences (Iron Maiden, Helloween, Judas Priest, Metallica, etc) and yes, Lovebites in 2019 open for Dragonforce. Check Hammer of Wrath (Trash Metal) or Rising (speed metal) with more epic solos, in live is the best.
Welcome to the Wolf Pack. This is a rare band who plays better in live than studio recording. Try the albums, Five of a Kind at Zepp Diver City Tokyo 2020, or Daughters of the Dawn 2019, or studio live Awakening Again from the Abyss. Don't try Bloodstock Open Air, the recording is just poor. You'll receive tons of request, take any of them. They are all good. There is no fillers for Lovebites. But one thing, in the case of Swan Song, you've got to play it with the preceding truck which is Chopin Revolutionary Etude, they are one set, a suite. You'll know the reason when you watch the clip. Edge of the World and We the united are the last two songs of the 2 hour live Five of a Kind at Zepp 2020. Those two pieces a kind of connected. You can see the grand finare.

@@salsaucedo Well, with my preference yes. You may have your own preference that is totally alright with me. I don't deny your opinion. Let me tell you how I feel about MVs. MVs have more back trucks and retouched, and I feel that is a little artificial to me. I'm not so naive that I deny retouch and back truck at all. The balance is difficult and I feel more comfortable with their lives. My preference may be different from yours but that the way I am.
I think the premise to "LIVE is better" comes from people not being accustomed to any band that can perform so flawlessly in a LIVE setting. I also prefer the 'mix' with the guitars distinctly panned left & right and the minimal 'enhancements', the RAW energy and WATCHING them, as individuals and their unity as a group, the ensemble nature of their presentation. The songs are fantastic, and honestly, I am just becoming familiar with the CDs as I only recently got them while having gotten the Blu-rays & DVDs months ago, even listening to the LIVE audio in my car. There are numerous songs not yet available LIVE, so I am becoming familiar with them now. The new song "Paranoia" 'triggered' that interest. LOVEBITES is quite prolific making it a 'full time' pleasure to 'get acquainted' with all their material. As "CudaHitz" commented, it takes several listens to absorb all that happens in just one song...

It's easy to compare them to Dragonforce, but their inspiration goes further back than that. In the eighties there were 2 singers named Bruce Dickinson and Michael Kiske. Why they're so important is that they represented a little change of direction which lead to the birth of powermetal. When Bruce took over in Maiden it was for a more shouty and punkish style of singer. His range and amazing voice opened up so many new possibilities and they ended up in an melodious heavy metal sound with galloping basslines. In Germany 18 year old Mike had just joined Helloween, where he took over for the more "shouty" guitarist, Kai Hansen as vocalist. Before it they were a more of a speed metal band. Though hardly being 18, Kiske was an enormous talent and brought a more polished but powerful voice, which lead to them cleaning up the sound, taking on a more melodious path, like Maiden, but in many ways keeping the speed. My tip? Listen to their cover of Helloweens " Eagle fly free" (live, Abyss) and their own "the Crusade" (mv) which has some similarities to Maidens "Aces high". ...and yeah: both bands have been a great inspiration to them.
There is a reason why this band already played at the Wacken Open Air Festival only two years after their formation. The biggest metal festival in the world! As the first Japanese female band ever. A concert of Lovebites is definitely on my bucket list. The really sad thing is that they only have 47,000 subscribers. How can that be? Women who blow dry their hair have more than that. But such a talentless zone like Lil Pump has 1,7000,000? I don't get it.

Lovebites, play this well live. The mix for most of their live material is first class. You can pick any live song from material available on RUclips and it would be very suprising if you were disappointed. The one exception to this rule is the 30 minute set they did for the BloodStock Festival. Through no fault of the Lovebites lady's, the stage was set up for a different band and there was little time to change settings from my understanding. Avoid any live footage from BloodStock for a reaction. By all means watch it for yourself 😀
Yeah, man they're ridiculously skilled. I believe they won a "Best New Band" award in 2018, and deservably so. I absolutely love them. Glad you reacted to them. If you ever get a chance do another reaction of Lovebites, do "Epilogue", it's a power metal ballad. Nothing extreme, I just think the guitar melodies are top tier imo. 👌 You'll see what I mean

You need to react to videos of Lovebites live. Their live perforances are better than their studei recordings - louder, heavier, more brutal - and the vocalist's voice sounds fuller in an auditorium than in the studeo. If you choose anything from their concert at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo, 2020 and you can't go wrong. I suggest Holy War, Break thr Wall, Edge of the World, Swan Song and Epilogue for starters. Lovebites are definitely the real deal. I would put them up against any male metal band and I think they would probably slay the opposition with their technical ability, songwriting skills and live performance. And no tattoos, no multiple piercings, no ragged jeans and T-shirts, no gurning while soloing, no drug or alcohol problem. Lovebites' members are not girls they are five well-educated, sophisticated women, all around thirty years old, who are also insanely talented musicians at the top of their game and play metal for the love of the music.
Their albums are mixed in Finland by the same people who worked on NightWish albums. Fantastic musicians all of them, and even better Live! Haruna on the drums uses triggers for her double bass Live, im not sure if it's the same in studio. Check out "Holy War" or "Break the Wall" both Live 2020.

I have noticed that she uses a dbl-pedal (can see the connecting rod twisting) instead of the two bass drums with individual pedals, but didn't know about "triggers". Thanks! @@dregeye My blood is there for sure. 😀 Haruna uses Roland triggers and 2 Roland modules to run them. 100% that is her Live setup, at least for this last Japan tour. If you go on Lovebites sub on Reddit, there's a post named "Great article with photos of the musical instruments..." That post links to a Japanese magazine that did an article on their Japan tour. The article goes in excellent detail on everything they used, member by member. Lots of great photos, and all the info on all the gear. I would send you the link but youtube will delete it instantly...

In my honest opinion comparing them to Dragonforce is an insult they are so much more like Iron Maiden and way better than Dragonforce who did what 1 song and got famous? they have way over 60 songs all awesome.

First, a little context. Every member is an outstanding musician. All the girls are multi-instrumentalists. Bass (Miho) and Drums (Haruna) come from the legendary all-female metal band Destrose. They were actually awesome. Check them out. The girl on right on Dean guitar (Miyako) - we are not worthy - no, really. She will probably put over 90% of any hard rock and metal players to shame - she will outclass them. She is a classically trained concert level pianist (for real) with University BA degree in Music (26 years piano). Guitar is her 2nd instrument; she can play bass and drums, too. She picked up guitar at 18 years. She composes over 50% of their songs. Midori on ESP guitar (on left) picked up guitar at 20 years old - she went to ESP Guitar School). Before that, she used to play piano. Asami (vocal) used to learn ballet and sing R&B. She can also play piano. She went to high school in Hawaii on an exchange program for a year. She writes most of their lyrics. All their songs are in English.

There's a reason why Mikko and Mika are involved. LoveBites is currently the only Japanese band signed to a western-world label: Nuclear Blast Records, which is the same label that Nightwish, Sabaton, Jinjer, Children of Bodom, and Stratovarius are on.

I just went to Nuclear Blast website and they don't list LOVEBITES with their "Bands" list and when I searched it showed (1) "upcoming release" with no name and no picture and no information, though I have seen, I think, a LOVEBITES music video or song on u2b associated with Nuclear Blast (because I find associating the name with Japan a bit uncomfortable, yet LOVEBITES has the most legit 'claim' to such an association, from an historical perspective.) I certainly admire LOVEBITES attitude in their songs "The Apocalypse" and "Under The Red Sky". I'm gonna see if NB Records has a 'channel'... Also, Wikipedia does not list NB as an associated label, but Wiki has gone downhill for years now...

The only reason I would say they don't get mainstream recognition is because their music is meant to be complicated, ambiguous, melodic and you need to listen to it multiple times to dissect it. In other words, it took a ton of effort to make compared to most garbage on the radio that all sounds the same

Yes, another one bitten. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background:
They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics.
They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level.
You picked one of the best "starter" songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano.

You can check more this band, Lovebites play thrash metal, power metal, speed metal, metal shymponic, heavy metal and hard rock, very classic metal with influences (Iron Maiden, Helloween, Judas Priest, Metallica, etc) and yes, Lovebites in 2019 open for Dragonforce. Check Hammer of Wrath (Trash Metal) or Rising (speed metal) with more epic solos, in live is the best.

Welcome to the Wolf Pack. This is a rare band who plays better in live than studio recording. Try the albums, Five of a Kind at Zepp Diver City Tokyo 2020, or Daughters of the Dawn 2019, or studio live Awakening Again from the Abyss. Don't try Bloodstock Open Air, the recording is just poor.
You'll receive tons of request, take any of them. They are all good. There is no fillers for Lovebites. But one thing, in the case of Swan Song, you've got to play it with the preceding truck which is Chopin Revolutionary Etude, they are one set, a suite. You'll know the reason when you watch the clip. Edge of the World and We the united are the last two songs of the 2 hour live Five of a Kind at Zepp 2020. Those two pieces a kind of connected. You can see the grand finare.

Let me tell you how I feel about MVs. MVs have more back trucks and retouched, and I feel that is a little artificial to me. I'm not so naive that I deny retouch and back truck at all. The balance is difficult and I feel more comfortable with their lives.
My preference may be different from yours but that the way I am.
I was going to say, everyone is saying they are better live so I'm excited to see their live work!
I think the premise to "LIVE is better" comes from people not being accustomed to any band that can perform so flawlessly in a LIVE setting. I also prefer the 'mix' with the guitars distinctly panned left & right and the minimal 'enhancements', the RAW energy and WATCHING them, as individuals and their unity as a group, the ensemble nature of their presentation. The songs are fantastic, and honestly, I am just becoming familiar with the CDs as I only recently got them while having gotten the Blu-rays & DVDs months ago, even listening to the LIVE audio in my car. There are numerous songs not yet available LIVE, so I am becoming familiar with them now. The new song "Paranoia" 'triggered' that interest. LOVEBITES is quite prolific making it a 'full time' pleasure to 'get acquainted' with all their material. As "CudaHitz" commented, it takes several listens to absorb all that happens in just one song...

It's easy to compare them to Dragonforce, but their inspiration goes further back than that.
In the eighties there were 2 singers named Bruce Dickinson and Michael Kiske. Why they're so important is that they represented a little change of direction which lead to the birth of powermetal. When Bruce took over in Maiden it was for a more shouty and punkish style of singer.
His range and amazing voice opened up so many new possibilities and they ended up in an melodious heavy metal sound with galloping basslines. In Germany 18 year old Mike had just joined Helloween, where he took over for the more "shouty" guitarist, Kai Hansen as vocalist. Before it they were a more of a speed metal band.
Though hardly being 18, Kiske was an enormous talent and brought a more polished but powerful voice, which lead to them cleaning up the sound, taking on a more melodious path, like Maiden, but in many ways keeping the speed. My tip? Listen to their cover of Helloweens " Eagle fly free" (live, Abyss) and their own "the Crusade" (mv) which has some similarities to Maidens "Aces high". ...and yeah: both bands have been a great inspiration to them.
There is a reason why this band already played at the Wacken Open Air Festival only two years after their formation.

Lovebites, play this well live. The mix for most of their live material is first class. You can pick any live song from material available on RUclips and it would be very suprising if you were disappointed. The one exception to this rule is the 30 minute set they did for the BloodStock Festival. Through no fault of the Lovebites lady's, the stage was set up for a different band and there was little time to change settings from my understanding. Avoid any live footage from BloodStock for a reaction. By all means watch it for yourself 😀

You gotta check out Nemophila. Another incredible all female Japanese metal band.
You need to react to videos of Lovebites live. Their live perforances are better than their studei recordings - louder, heavier, more brutal - and the vocalist's voice sounds fuller in an auditorium than in the studeo. If you choose anything from their concert at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo, 2020 and you can't go wrong. I suggest Holy War, Break thr Wall, Edge of the World, Swan Song and Epilogue for starters.
Lovebites are definitely the real deal. I would put them up against any male metal band and I think they would probably slay the opposition with their technical ability, songwriting skills and live performance. And no tattoos, no multiple piercings, no ragged jeans and T-shirts, no gurning while soloing, no drug or alcohol problem. Lovebites' members are not girls they are five well-educated, sophisticated women, all around thirty years old, who are also insanely talented musicians at the top of their game and play metal for the love of the music.
Their albums are mixed in Finland by the same people who worked on NightWish albums.

Haruna on the drums uses triggers for her double bass Live, im not sure if it's the same in studio.
Check out "Holy War" or "Break the Wall" both Live 2020.
@Jorge, I'm interested where you got the "triggers" info... I have noticed that she uses a dbl-pedal (can see the connecting rod twisting) instead of the two bass drums with individual pedals, but didn't know about "triggers".

Haruna uses Roland triggers and 2 Roland modules to run them. 100% that is her Live setup, at least for this last Japan tour.
If you go on Lovebites sub on Reddit, there's a post named "Great article with photos of the musical instruments..." That post links to a Japanese magazine that did an article on their Japan tour. The article goes in excellent detail on everything they used, member by member. Lots of great photos, and all the info on all the gear.

If you are truly a metalhead, you must stick with Japanese bends. My beloved wolfpack will tell you what to listen next from Lovebites, but I will recommand a few more excellent bands.
BAND MAID (mostly hard rock, with heavy metal, funk, pop-punk elements), songs Domination, Freedom, Play (all of them live), Warning (MV), and about 1000 more of them...
NEMOPHILA (modern metal, heavy metal, all over), songs Dessension (MV), Oiran (studio live)
UNLUCKY MORPHEUS (They described their genre of music as "Technical Melodic Speed Metal"), songs Black pentagram, Unending sorceress, Cadaver

Come on guys really! they are better live? then what the hell did we just witnessed for the 1000th time and you still claim the same BS. it doesn't matter if it's a live, studio recording, and or an MV they are the best of the best. you are giving the impression that their albums are not worthy of purchase because they are only good live, this is getting way out of hand, and most of you new dudes are the cause of this stop disrespecting the originals and only claiming they are only good live. Now, you Youngman this is your first Lovebites MV and you acknowledged how good the MV was, but a word of advice don't assume that they are equal to dragon force or there some similarities, these ladies are far better than dragon force and if you continue on this Lovebites journey you will see. Even the guys from dragon force know exactly just how amazing they are and have great respect for them.

In my honest opinion comparing them to Dragonforce is an insult they are so much more like Iron Maiden and way better than Dragonforce who did what 1 song and got famous? they have way over 60 songs all awesome.
